KUALA LUMPUR 10 April – MiTV Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MiTV) akan memperkenalkan talian mudah alih 018 kepada pengguna di negara ini sebelum akhir tahun ini.

Sebelum itu, MiTV yang merupakan syarikat penyedia beberapa perkhidmatan akan melancarkan perkhidmatan 3G komersialnya terlebih dahulu, yang dijangka diperkenalkan pertengahan tahun ini.

MiTV akan menggunakan infrastruktur telekomunikasi Celcom (M) Bhd. liputan di kawasan-kawasan yang tidak mempunyai liputan 018.

Pengerusi MiTV, Datuk Ir Rosman Ridzwan berkata, kerjasama itu adalah yang pertama seumpamanya oleh mana-mana syarikat telekomunikasi di negara ini.

Katanya, melalui perjanjian tersebut, pemilik talian 018 mendapat kelebihan daripada segi infrastruktur yang disediakan oleh Celcom.

‘‘Pengguna 018 tidak perlu bimbang kerana MiTV bekerjasama dengan Celcom, sebuah syarikat telekomunikasi yang mempunyai rangkaian liputan yang meluas,’’ katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas majlis menandatangani perjanjian persefahaman (MoU) itu, di sini hari ini.

Turut hadir Menteri Tenaga, Air dan Komunikasi, Datuk Seri Dr. Lim Keng Yeik dan Pengerusi Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (MCMC), Datuk Dr. Halim Shafie.

Kata Rosman, perjanjian itu menyaksikan pelanggan akan menikmati liputan talian mudah alih ke seluruh negara tanpa sebarang kos tambahan.

Katanya, pelanggan bakal menikmati liputan meluas sehingga 97 peratus seperti yang dimiliki oleh Celcom di negara ini termasuk di Sabah dan Sarawak.

Tambahnya, MiTV pada masa ini sedang bekerja keras untuk melancarkan rangkaian miliknya, pakej akses berkelajuan tinggi (HSPA) dan rangkaian yang lebih besar dalam peningkatan data serta penggunaan aplikasi pelanggan 018.

MiTV going to use Celcom's infrastructures to offer their 3G service. It looks like we gonna have another prefix mobile number... but as i understand, 018 only offers 3G spectrum, donno whether they can provides normal voice communication or not... lets wait n see the price they can offer us...

It must be the answer to Digi's fu-yoh new promotion. hope they'll reduce the price for call rates in the future...

i read berita harian, about 4 million prepaid number terminated after the dateline.
1.5 million from both celcom n maxis customers, and 1 million from digi...
where's another 1.5 million? or maybe celcom = 1.5m and maxis = 1.5m...

wow... that's quite a big number rite?

hurm... lets wait n see 'who' is losing 'how much' market share...
