Sony X8 VS HTC Wildfire S

Hi there guys.

I need help with choosing between Sony X8 and HTC Wildfire S. I have been a sony user almost all my life and when it comes to Android, I have no experience. HTC is something new to me and I don't know if its good. I have tried it in a couple of shops but could not decide. I like the idea of the X8 but its on 2.1 without multi-touch. However the Wildfire S is 2.3 and I have no idea if its good or not. My budget is RM600 and I saw the Digi deal for HTC WS RM499 and the X8 (AP) - RM450. So can you guys help me decide which one is a phone that can last and which of these models is better in the aspect of the touch screen and OS upgrade path?

Regards,
