Overdraft from Home Loan

Hi guys,

recently i heard about overdraft from home loan.
i have a property which i bought last year.. the loan is under HSBC..
would i be able to do this overdraft thing? how does it work?
can i just go to the counter and request to make a withdrawal?
from my understanding, it's like taking out some money from your home loan, which means the money we take will be added to the home loan+interest. am i right? can i do this?

any help would be appreciated..

[addedon]January 31, 2012, 11:34 pm[/addedon]nobody has any info on this? any bankers around?
Personal loan or balance transfer

hi all..

just want to ask for all your opinions since im quite clueless in this whole thing.
last month i got into a big mess and ended up with debt in my credit cards:

i think i can use this balance to pay off the cc debt but im so scared of the accumulating interest.
so i am thinking to either do a personal loan or balance transfer to settle all this thing.

1) if i do a balance transfer, i am very sure i can pay off all this debt in within 6-12 mth. but i already have 3 cc, am i eligible to apply for another one?

2) if personal loan, i was thinking to take around 15K, pay what i could and the others settle normally by monthly payment. i applied for alliance PL 7.99% last 2 weeks but rejected because the promotion has ended. few days after i applied again for the 8.99% from alliance, from a different agent btu also got rejected which i dont know why. as i know my record is clean..

can anybody help to lighten me up? i mean, what should i do, which way should i go.. im really confused.. ;(

Calling for expert/opinions on upside down loan

Hi guys..

Trying to get some opinions from all of you here because i am really confused on what to do right now.
First, let me tell u the history/background of all this. About 5 years ago, a family member asked if he could use my name to buy a new car because his name wasn't usable at that time. i was ignorant, didn't understand the implications of such act and i thought, oh well, hes a family, i should help. So he bought a car, under my name and happily drove it for 3 years and decided to buy a new car because he could use his name then.

Long story short, i had to take the car which was bought under my name while he drives his new car. fortunately, i did not own any cars and i just got a new job which requires me to drive. what i had to do was just to continue paying for the 3yo car. fine with me at that moment. so as a new driver, i started to learn more about the loans and my interest in just everything about cars grows. it suddenly hit me hard when i learned that:

1) the car price is RM73,400.
2) under a 9 year loan with 3.75% interest
3) no down payment was paid upfront so in exchange to that, the monthly installment for the car grows each year:
1st year: RM599
2nd - 3rd year: RM709
4th - 6th year: RM940
7th - 8th year: RM1100
balance: RM728

This is an American car, with no good resale value, eats petrol like water and I am paying a whopping RM940 for it now. My dilemma came in when I am starting to feel that the future installment for it is going to be a burden to me. Not to mention for that for that kind of installment, i could get a much better car. most important of all, i just don't like this car!

So a friend suggested that I sell off this car ASAP and get a new car. The thing is:

1) Current resale value: RM24, 000
2) Full settlement amount with bank: RM46,878
3) Amount need to top up for settlement: RM22, 878

The top up amount is outrageous, I don't have that kind of money. Friend suggested I buy a new car and include the top up amount into my new loan (heard this is possible). My question is:

1) Is it wise to do this? just to simplify everything, let's say the new car price is RM70,000. So i'll take a loan of RM92,878 including the top up amount. if my calculation is correct, for a 7years loan and interest of 3.5%, my monthly installment would be RM1144.

2) Should i be better off just continue paying for the current car? I don't enjoy driving it and I am afraid that the value will go down the drain if i wait longer.

I am just trying to figure out the best options i have right now. If i have to pay RM1100 for the current car next year, i would rather pay the same amount for a new car that i actually like. Nevermind that i have to pay extra for the top up amount, at least i get some sort of satisfaction. The current car is already looking old and dated. If selling it is the better option, i would like to do so before it becomes a beater. But if keeping it is better, then i would have no other choice but to just deal with it.

Anybody who has any insights on this issue, please kindly help to advice me. Please do not flame me because I know well that i did a very stupid mistake by using my name 5 years ago for this. Thanks a lot in advance and hope to hear from u all soon.
