So I just been offered a position in Cargill Malaysia located at Klang as a Regulatory Affairs. I would like to know if any of you guys happen to have/know what kind of working environment there. Still waiting for email on details about the position but from the phone call, the job description seems quite interesting. Besides the salary, I need to make my decision making clear to justify the worthiness for me to travel from East to West Malaysia.

Thanks.

resigned twice

My friend recently come to me for her problem.

She joined a company for almost 2 years. During her first year, she tendered resignation letter because of another job offer. The new job offer will need her to travel away from her family which she don't really have problem with. At the same time, her mother fell sick. Since only her and her little sister live with family, she felt guilty to leave. Furthermore, her boss counter offer so she decided to withdraw the resignation letter.

But recently, she just said that she re-resigned because she doesn't like to work in that company anymore due to management issue which terribly effect her job. I think she kind of determine to do so but her boss still asked her to stay until 3 days before her last day in the company.

I don't know what happen but she made a decision to stay...again!! So now she regret her decision to stay because she kind of said like 'eventhough the boss give assurance to change the way things happen that affect her job, but she just realize how bullshit is that'

So now she keep haunted me saying that she hate her job every single day. she's too embarrassed to resign for the 3rd time plus her record will be bad. wants to wait for bonus until next year but 3 months feels like 3 years if everyday also complaining to me.

So actually is there such a thing like resigning many times in the same company? what is the best she can do at the moment because I can see (we're quite close friends) that she's really not happy with her life anymore.

Any HR sifu or anyone who knows about labour law

1) Salary just been revised from RM 1400 (basic) to RM 1400 + RM 500 (fix allowance) = RM 1900 (new, revised salary). So this one HR(A) said that i'm entitled for new OT rate which is based on the RM1900 because fix allowance is included in OT calculation. Another HR (B) said the same thing when I asked later. Then, the result is they just calculate my OT based on basic which is RM 1400 only. When I asked the HR (A) about it, she just said that it's not included and reply "ala...got fix allowance plus OT suda banyak la u punya salary...cukupla"....
Is there any such issue like Basic+fix allowance for OT computation, or is it depends on the company how to rate the OT?

2) Fix allowance actually for night shift + transportation. So the HR (A) just declared that I cannot claim OT anymore when I come at night because I have allowance already means that I already being paid for my night work. The thing is I claim if exceed 8 hour of working. Is it wrong?

3) Does anyone know for night shift working, is there any special rules? e.g. from what I heard the salary computation should be different from morning team. Or anything like given additional rest day before night shift? Anything from labor law? am really not sure so pls help here.

I personally feel it's totally different when working during morning and night plus, in manufacturing environment with 100 ++ of workers u need to take care of with only 2,3 management personnel. So can't we be more loose on working time? e.g. when the work finish early, not yet 8 hours but we just go back without completing the 8 hours of working time?

I just tender my resignation letter yesterday....talked with my boss (A) together with another boss (B)

Of course both are shocked...they tried to convince me to stay longer but as I already made up my mind, I still choose to leave but said that I'll help to finish my remaining work.

Boss B seems to understand and wish me luck in the future.Boss A (my direct reporting boss) not say anything...

so until today she not say even 1 word to me...she just ignore me like i'm not exist...it's really hurt to get this kind of silent treatment cause we usually quite close even share some personal stories.

any of u got this kind of treatment from boss when u give resignation letter?
I really want the job

I had this phone interview around 2-3 weeks ago with a job that i'm really interested, in terms of job scope and nature of work (which need one to travel most of time, doing audit to supplier etc2). I like the job to the point that I don't really mind if I got the salary slightly below from what I expected it to be.

During the interview, the interviewee even said that she likes me, she's happy with my answer and positive response, everything's good etc2 which put me in high hope for the position.

Then next few days, I called again to ask how long the interview result will come out but she said she still have other candidates so should be around 1st week of march so I believe around this week.

Problem is, I feel like I can't wait because I really want the job and what if someone else get it?
Do you think it's a right thing to call and ask again about the result or just wait? I don't want to sound so pushy and desperate but at the same time, I'm afraid if I didn't get any response from them, it would be hurt even more.

Seniority

We have this newly hired manager in our processing plant. He's still young, early 30. And we have this production supervisor who've been working for 3yrs in the company and older than the new manager. Around 50 ++ if not mistaken.

This manager has a good knowledge. He's helping a lot by delivering his idea for our plant's improvement. He's really strict with workers following the rules like no playing and make noise during working, no extra rest time etc.
But of course as a manager he didn't do it himself. He just ordering people to do that. He just expect the supervisors will report to him whenever there's a problem/issue in the production. If the management ask for something, he will then ask the supervisors or the assistant to do it. The thing is, this manager is too relax and since our processing is at night he even sleep in his car when he's sleepy.

Then this one supervisor, he's not strict AT ALL. He like to build good relationship with the workers because from what I observe, he want to gain their trust over him. Since we are a food processing company, many rules regarding food safety must be followed. But for this supervisor, he's not really particular in this issue. Evidence, I've been working here for almost a year and never did I see any improvement especially regarding the food safety issue before the manager came. This supervisor actually alert with all the issues. It's just that he only take it for granted. Talk with no action.

Recently, these 2 have gotten into a not really a fight but more or less like that. It's because this manager asked the supervisors to do many works. He asked 1, finished then asked another one then another one then another one. The supervisor later was very angry and he said "he also have many works to do, you keep asking me to do something while you only sit and resting there".
Then the supervisor called our Director afterwards to inform about the issue and telling her that he won't be coming to work for 2 nights. Maybe need to calm down.

Then the Director talk to the manager, sort of blaming him to not manage the plant well. Then now after few days the manager also on leave for 2 days maybe needs to calm down.

The thing is, I listened from both sides. They told me. But what I don't like is eventhough they already reconcile to each other you still can feel the tension between them. And I don't think there'll be an improvement after this also.

So what do you think? How should I face this? What I do now is just pretend to not care and do my work like usual but sometimes I just can't stand when both sides start to pull me plus outsiders start to talk about it.

So...I got a call just now from this company asking me to go for interview for management trainee position.
But the thing is I don't exactly sure what is their core business. I know it's involve in some kind of sales and marketing or consultancy or whatever service.

From what I know/read/hear they're some kind of scam company that asked you to go sales door to door or something like that. Their website seems promising though. Also, people always connect the company with asia titan, cobra e.g. Are they the same?

I can just go and try but I am from east malaysia so it's sure will be a waste to go there only to find out that it's one of the scam company nowadays. I didn't confirm with them yet either I'll go or not to the interview.

So any info/advice?

I tried searching for F&N topic in LYN but couldn't find one.

Actually I applied for line leader position for F&N last year, called for interview but didn't pass the stage. It's a group interview so about 13 people with me at that time. seems like only 3/4 persons who really eager/interested to join F&N from what i got during our chit chatting session. The rest either don't know or just attending because they have nothing better to do.

Same as me,at that time I was really desperate to get a job so I just apply and attend as much interview as I got. In the end, I forgot to really prepare myself and took the interview for granted. Now I'm working at this medium scale chinaman company and feeling like wanted to try for F&N again.

So maybe you guys who ever experienced/know someone/somehow know about F&N working environment, benefits etc2 can share here.

p/s: During the interview, the HR lady was really secretive about benefits, salary and all. She only told that salary will be based on skills and experience and the usual benefits like medical expenses

i want you guys opinion about this matter.

i have problems with my coworkers regarding jobs at workplace. this guy working at store.3 weeks ago we conducted a training for the workers so my boss asked him to put the chair from store room into the conference room.after the training finished, i reminded him to not forget to take out the chairs back. he said, he's busy at that time so will do in the evening.i asked again in the evening and he said will do tomorrow.when i came back to him the next day, he said later they'll do as they have other works to do. then i just remind him not to forget about it. i couldn't keep reminding him as i have my own works to do.

then 3 weeks later(yesterday) my boss told me the chairs still there and asked me again to tell the store guy. i went to the store and looking for the guy to asked him about it but he's not there at that time. only the new guy so i told him to take the chairs out and i said 'don't wait for complaint first to do your work'...without any other meaning.then when i came back to office this store guy suddenly call me and shouting at the phone that i'm complaining about their work. i went again to the store to face him and asked what's his problem to suddenly angry like that and asked what actually the new guy told him. i don't think i've done anything wrong.i'm not complaining whatsoever.

the quarrel went pretty bad because he's shouting at me like crazy and the worse thing is there're other people at the store at that time.the thing is he didn't like to be complaining as he also has works to do, and asked me to asked other people to take out the chair.it's just 30pcs of kerusi plastik and he complaining it's heavy, they tired etc2 while the conference room is just next to the store room.3 weeks is more than enough to do the job.

it became pretty bad.i just left the store and went back to my office.i don't want to tell my boss of what happen but then decided told her in the evening because i don't want her to know about it from other people. there're many complaints before about the store guy attitude like he's not really doing his job, late, not helpful whatsoever.my boss also always complaining before this (our jobs really need to always work together with store).

things like this make me so unmotivated going to work.especially when i know we need to work together again in the future.i know the guy been teasing me and not willing to help me when i want something from the store this whole time.maybe because i'm new, just 3months joining the company so he don't take me seriously or because i'm a girl so he felt superior i also don't know.things like this happen make me think of so many negative things.

how to go through this situation??

fresh grades no right to choose?

People always say don't be choosy/picky about your job when you're a fresh graduate. All you need is a work and experience.Stay for a year or two then you can go demand in your resume.

But then how if the fresh grades found out later that the job was not satisfying/interest them actually.Let's say this happen after 2/3 months working.
Reasons?vary like lack of training, lack of supervision, too many work to handle as their superior like to take advantage of the fresh grades, unclear job scope etc.
Or how if they realize that they're not actually like to work in the same field of what been studying before?

Can the fresh grades just resign and find another company?
Or spend the whole 1 year in the company before got to see some light?

Need opinions from the seniors

Stay or quit?

Ok here's the story
I've been working for this poultry processing company for one month now as a food technologist.
I realised that I can't get to like this job.If the only thing that makes me to do it because my bos is a nice person.
But the thing is, this is my very first real job (did several part times before) after graduated and they know I am not experienced in working. But they couldn't give me direct training as my bos is super duper busy with her work as well.
They have a practical student doing internship at the company right now in the same field as I am and I learn many from her.
I don't have problem with that.I can learn but the thing is,now I can start familiar with my job and can do it on my own,I feel like nothing more to do.
When I go to the processing plant and observe the workers then get back to my bos to report and discuss, that's all.At first I like doing it but then, doing the same thing everyday without visible result or at least corrective action is something like...pointless.I can't do anything on my own since I'm still in probationary period and my position not confirmed yet (according to my big boss).I can't push my bos either since she also busy with other jobs related to factory construction and workers welfare.

Ok...that's the time when I have something to do which is only like two days/week. Worst thing is the 4 days left (including saturday) where I'm not doing anything is just terrible...FYI, I don't have my own table, I'm sitting at the dispatch's place, no computer and the table is placed in front of the door.So it's really obvious for people to see me doing nothing most of the time when they in and out the office. My bos asked me to share computer with the practical student but she also want to use it sometimes. So my job is just sit and read books which I don't really remember the title and the content.I tried to make myself looks busy but it's been a month now and I don't know how much I can cope with it more.

I've been thinking to start find a new job and maybe will resign after I got a place. but finding a job in malaysia is not as easy as that. I've experienced it before and the whole 6months doing nothing is just like a nightmare. But I don't like either to feel like useless and not productive. Feels like I don't deserve the penny. So what should I do?stay longer or quit now? and do I need to mention in my resume about this work?
