Redmi Note space running out problem

Hi, i'm using Mi Redmi Note running MIUI 7.5.1.0. But I keep getting this storage run out of space msg when I don't even have much application installed. It's like something running in the background and keep eating out the space. I've reformatted the phone coupe of times and the phone will run find for 1-2 weeks and the problem comes back. after formatting I have around 3GB of available space and this space will slowly reduce until 200-300mb, sometimes even to 0gb, the phone become very laggy and then hang. I've tried booting into recovery to clear cache but it doesn't seems to help. I don't think it's a hardware problem as the phone works fine after formatting, well at least at the beginning stage. What could be the problem. advise needed
