Character Education to be introduced in 2027 school curriculum, says Fadhlina

KUALA LUMPUR: A new subject, titled Character Education, will be introduced in the 2027 School Curriculum to better instil moral values and virtues in students, says Fadhlina Sidek.

The Education Minister said the new planned subject would be first implemented at preschool levels beginning next year, as part of its 2026 preschool curriculum.

“We identified character education as one of the most important components that should be part of the curriculum as part of recommendations.

“As such, Character Education will form the core foundation of the new curriculum, which will begin in 2026.

“This will then serve as the main pillar of national education to fulfill the aspirations of the education community for character education,” she said.

Fadhlina was responding to a supplementary question from Salamiah Mohd Nor (PN-Temerloh) on the ministry's steps to review and reform the current school curriculum to invoke better character building while instilling integrity and values in students.

ChatGPT will soon allow erotica for verified adults, says OpenAI boss

OpenAI plans to allow a wider range of content, including erotica, on its popular chatbot ChatGPT as part of its push to "treat adult users like adults", says its boss Sam Altman.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Mr Altman said upcoming versions of the popular chatbot would enable it to behave in a more human-like way - "but only if you want it, not because we are usage maxxing".

The move, reminiscent of Elon Musk's xAI's recent introduction of two sexually explicit chatbots to Grok, could help OpenAI attract more paying subscribers.

It is also likely to intensify pressure on lawmakers to introduce tighter restrictions on chatbot companions.

OpenAI did not respond to the BBC's requests for comment.

Mr Altman said OpenAI had previously made ChatGPT "pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues".

These changes were announced in a blog post in August, which no longer appears on OpenAI's website.

"We realise this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right," Mr Altman posted on Tuesday.

He said ChatGPT could soon relax the restrictions "now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools".

He added: "In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our 'treat adult users like adults' principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults."

PENAMPANG: Pelaksanaan penyasaran subsidi petrol RON95 akan menggunakan pelbagai mekanisme pembayaran, dan bukan bergantung pada penggunaan MyKad fizikal semata-mata, kata Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

Justeru, katanya orang ramai tidak perlu bimbang sekiranya berdepan kesukaran apabila ingin membeli petrol bersubsidi akibat MyKad yang rosak kerana mereka boleh memilih pelbagai mekanisme disediakan untuk mendapatkan subsidi itu.

Beliau berkata antaranya melalui aplikasi yang telah disediakan syarikat minyak seperti Setel dan Shell App yang membolehkan orang ramai menikmati subsidi itu dengan lebih mudah dan cepat.

"Pengguna juga boleh menggunakan kaedah pembayaran di terminal pembayaran di luar atau di dalam stesen minyak untuk membeli petrol bersubsidi itu. Jadi, jangan khuatir, jangan anggap bahawa MyKad (fizikal) hanya satu-satunya kaedah.

"Walaupun semuanya akan disandarkan kepada kelayakan yang ada dalam MyKad, pembelian itu tidaklah hanya bergantung pada satu kaedah semata-mata," katanya kepada pemberita di sini hari ini.

Terdahulu, beliau menghadiri Konvensyen Mahasiswa Sabah yang diadakan selama sehari di sini dan dirasmikan oleh Ketua Menteri, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor serta dihadiri lebih 1,000 mahasiswa dari seluruh negeri.

Armizan menegaskan bahawa kerajaan memastikan persiapan yang teliti telah dilakukan sejak awal tahun demi kelancaran pelaksanaan penyasaran subsidi petrol RON95 yang akan diumumkan Kementerian Kewangan dalam masa terdekat.

"Kita akan memastikan langkah ini berjalan dengan lancar dan tidak akan membebankan rakyat, apatah lagi menyebabkan ada tuduhan bahawa rakyat akan terpaksa beratur panjang nanti," katanya. – BERNAMA

Living in Klang can mitigate your sentence for carrying a weapon.
(In very specific circumstances of course)

In PP v Wan Hasrul Nizam Wan Hizamuddin [2017] 4 CLJ 389, the accused pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place - a 45cm long sword. Accordingly he was convicted under s.6(1) Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958

In mitigation, he pled that he has trauma from being robbed and felt unsafe in Klang, hence he felt the need to carry the said weapon.

The High Court judge considered, among other factors, that being in Klang could mitigate the severity of the sentence.

"[18] ... In my considered judgment, the respondent's act is probable, that it is not safe for him to earn a living as shop assistant especially during night time in the area of Klang.

(a) This court takes judicial notice the notorious fact that there has been a rising crimes of robbery and murder in Klang, which constitutes a general knowledge based on media reports and number of cases registered in Klang and Shah Alam's courts ...".

The accused was sentenced to a good behaviour bond under s.294 Criminal Procedure Code.

Since it was first introduced, I've HATED the hole punch/notch on phone screens. Actually one of the main reasons I'm still rocking my Poco F2 Pro. I've never been into selfies (typical ktard with face problem). The only times I ever pop out the selfie cam is for apps that require selfie for verification. The main camera oso very rarely use.

The ZTE nubia Red Magic 9 Pro really ticks most of my boxes. Clean screen, no annoying camera bump, got 3.5mm jack, battery will last me all day. The under screen camera is nothing new, but very few phone makers adopt this. Understandable, since picture quality does suffer. But I do hope more mainstream phone makers would have this option on some models, rather than just niche, expensive gaming devices.

KUALA LUMPUR: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) dijadual mengeluarkan secara besar-besaran kenderaan elektrik (EV) mampu milik pada hujung tahun 2025.
Menurut Menteri Pelaburan, Perdagangan dan Industri, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, ia selaras dengan pelantikan syarikat pengeluar kenderaan itu untuk menerajui pengeluaran kenderaan elektrik mampu milik di bawah Pelan Induk Perindustrian Baharu 2030 (NIMP 2030).
"Projek kenderaan elektrik Perodua. Perodua telah bekerjasama dengan sebuah syarikat automotif antarabangsa untuk menghasilkan prototaip EV berkenaan.

"Terima kasih syarikat Perodua kerana membantu Malaysia dalam memajukan teknologi kenderaan elektrik dan memperkukuhkan mobiliti mampan Malaysia," katanya dalam satu muat naik di media sosial, pada Rabu.

Pada 29 November lalu, Perodua umum menyasar kenderaan elektrik (EV) dan hibrid jenamanya menyumbang sehingga 20 peratus daripada jualan keseluruhan kereta baharu menjelang 2030.
Presiden dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutifnya, Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad berkata, angka jualan itu mungkin boleh dicapai "jika semua pemain industri boleh bekerjasama."

"Kami bekerjasama dengan kerajaan dan rakan kongsi yang lain. Kami juga telah dilantik dalam pelan perindustrian baharu untuk menerajui pembangunan EV di Malaysia.

"Kita perlu menghasilkan produk baharu. Kita belum memuktamadkan masa pengeluarannya, tetapi sasaran yang diberikan oleh kerajaan - 20 peratus menjelang 2025 atau 2030 akan menjadi kenyataan jika semua pihak memberi kerjasama," katanya.

PETALING JAYA: Sanggup berkahwin empat untuk menubuhkan kartel syarikat bagi menguasai tender kerajaan, itu antara modus operandi dikesan Suruhanjaya Persaingan Malaysia (MyCC) dalam siasatannya terhadap kegiatan tipuan bida.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutifnya Iskandar Ismail berkata ketika ini pihaknya menyiasat 500 syarikat dipercayai terbabit dalam kegiatan tipuan bida projek, salah satu bentuk kartel menyebabkan kerugian terhadap dana kerajaan.

Menurutnya, syarikat terbabit berkomplot dengan memasuki tender projek sama dan menentukan pemenang berdasarkan harga telah ditetapkan.

“Macam-macam mereka buat, ada yang kahwin empat supaya boleh bina empayar syarikat…contohnya syarikat A bapa mentua bini nombor satu pegang manakala syarikat B bapa mentua bini nombor dua…begitulah seterusnya.

“Mereka boleh cipta satu empayar 50 syarikat masuk sekali (tender), jadi mereka monopoli tender yang sepatutnya dibuat untuk mendapat syarikat menawarkan perkhidmatan berkualiti pada harga terbaik,” katanya dalam temu bual dengan Astro Awani.

“Tetapi mereka buat satu ilusi bahawa itu yang terbaik, bila menang mereka sub kepada orang lain.”

Ismail berkata MyCC pada masa ini juga memfokuskan kepada komplot bidang makanan dan pertanian yang dapat dilihat menerusi denda berjumlah RM415 juta terhadap lima syarikat kerana membentuk “kartel makanan ayam” untuk menetapkan harga.

Bagi meningkatkan fungsi MyCC dalam mencegah kartel, beliau berkata pihaknya merancang menambah 60 pegawai penyiasat pada tahun depan menerusi peruntukan RM10 juta di bawah Belanjawan 2024.

“Ketika ini hanya ada 17 pegawai penyiasat sahaja yang tidak mampu untuk ke pelbagai lapangan untuk siasatan.

“Fungsi dan peranan MyCC untuk menangani kartel perlu diperhebatkan tahun depan apabila kerajaan laksana kaedah subsidi bersasar,” katanya.

Serial killer bomoh

JAKARTA: A serial killer known as ‘Mbah Slamet’, who is believed to be able to magically multiply money, was arrested by the police in Central Java last Saturday.

He is suspected of killing 10 people.

Slamet Tohari, 45, was detained at his home in Desa Balun, Banjarnegara, along with an accomplice who was promoting money multiplying services on social media.

He has allegedly been killing his clients since 2020.

His activities came to light when Banjarnegara police conducted an investigation into the disappearance of his latest victim, whose family had been unable to contact him since March 24.

Banjarnegara police chief Hendri Yulianto said the victim informed his son that he was at Mbah Slamet’s house via a WhatsApp message.

“The victim from Sukabumi, West Java, told his family to contact the police if he didn’t return by March 26,” he said.

Police found the body of the victim, believed to have been poisoned, in a plantation.

Also discovered were the graves of three other victims.

The majority of the victims were from outside Banjarnegara, including from Palembang.

Some graves had two or three bodies in them.

At least 10 bodies have been recovered by the authorities so far.

All the victims were deceived by Mbah Slamet, who they believed could turn 40 million rupiah into 5 billion rupiah.

The case is being investigated under Article 340 of the Criminal Code which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment or a maximum of 20 years imprisonment.

Telegram auctioning usernames

Telegram announced today that will it hold an auction for usernames — for both individual accounts and channels — through a marketplace built on top of the TON blockchain.

At launch, the chat app is auctioning four- and five-character handles that will be available for everyone. Telegram users can also put up their own existing handles for auction. Each handle put up for auction will end in a week with an extra hour for final bidding. The company is setting a minimum auction value for four-character handles at 10,000 toncoins — which converts to roughly $18,400 at the time of writing.

PUTRAJAYA: Tablet PerantiSiswa yang diberikan secara percuma kepada mahasiswa golongan keluarga B40 mempunyai aplikasi sistem pengesan yang membolehkan lokasinya dikesan, termasuk sama ada berada di kawasan kampus atau sebaliknya.

Menteri Komunikasi dan Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa, memaklumkan sistem berkenaan dibina ketika ia mula ditempah.
Annuar menjelaskan, dengan adanya sistem pengesan itu, pihaknya dapat mengetahui sama ada ia diguna oleh penerima peranti tersebut atau sebaliknya.

Beliau menjelaskan, pihaknya memandang serius tindakan mahasiswa yang menjual peranti tersebut.

"Inilah adalah satu tindakan yang tidak wajar dan kementerian selaku agensi pelaksana memandang serius perkara ini.
"Saya ingin memaklumkan peranti ini sewaktu ditempah telah mempunyai aplikasi tertentu dibina termasuk tracking system dan kita boleh tahu peranti itu berada di mana sama ada di kampus atau dengan pihak lain yang tidak sepatutnya.

"Yang kedua, mahasiwa yang memohon telah membuat aku janji mereka layak dan akan menggunakan sendiri, menjual bermakna telah melanggar aku janji tersebut," katanya pada sidang media selepas mempengerusikan mesyuarat Pasukan Khas Jihad Tangani Inflasi pada Selasa.

Annuar menjelaskan Kementerian Komunikasi dan Multimedia mempunyai keupayaan untuk mengesan mahasiswa yang menjual peranti tersebut.

"Mereka-mereka yang mengambil tindakan sedemikian yakni menjual ada langkah-langkah tertentu yang boleh kita ambil.
"Antara tindakan yang boleh diambil adalah memaparkan nama-nama mereka kepada umum sama ada di portal PerantiSiswa dan juga memaklumkan kepada universiti yang berkenaan," katanya lagi.

Sehingga kini, katanya terdapat 14 kes membabitkan penerima dikesan cuba menjual tablet itu, dan ada peranti yang telah disekat penggunaannya.
Annuar memaklumkan setakat ini hampir 300,000 permohonan telah diluluskan bagi pemberian table PerantiSiswa.

I've noticed several times in the past few weeks that the Sunway toll (between Puchong and Sunway) deducts my card balance, although my ewallet still got more than enough money. Happened again today. Ewallet still got money. This happen to anybody else? Nasib I always keep some balance in my card.

Now I wonder if some cars that are stuck at the toll due to insufficient balance, actually not even their fault. Ewallet still go money, but toll die2 wanna deduct from card...

Dr.Strange Banned in China

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is certainly doing it’s part to raise eyebrows. After Saudi Arabia banned the movie over its representation of LGBTQ characters, China follows suit. the People’s Republic of China had already been playing coy with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Lack of a release date and promotional campaigns for the movie had already affected the movie’s PR status in asia’s biggest movie market. Now audiences can finally get some closure, as bitter as it may be. Doctor Strange will not be releasing in China as the country has officially passed a motion to ban it from Chinese theaters.

The official news came courtesy of Oliver Chen’s twitter handle. Oliver Chen is a renowned Chinese box office analyst and movie critic/expert. He has religiously followed all past events regarding the MCU in the Orient. Now he reports this:

The Chinese authorities haven’t given an official reason for cancellation of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness yet. But the reasons are quite evident. From the very beginning, Doctor Strange 2 has had multiple run-ins with the Chinese over many issues. Some of them are just way too ridiculous to even believe.

There have been absolutely no movement by Marvel Studios on the Chinese front ever since Far From Home. Many Marvel movies that came after, including Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, failed to hit Chinese theaters. The latter failed to get even an official release date in the country. Neither Marvel Studios nor Disney cited any official reasons as to why they let the biggest overseas box office market slip away multiple times.

But we may finally have concrete proof as to why the Chinese don’t want Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screen in their country. The movie apparently features a scene showing The Epoch Times, a publication that is thought to be widely against the views of the Chinese Government and the CCP. The social media supporters of the Chinese Communist Party came forward to express their views, claiming that Disney was crossing a line making things too geopolitical for its own taste.

We may never know if that is the official reasons since the Chinese authorities are notorious for being elusive. What we do know is that post the anti-CCP propaganda concerns in Multiverse of Madness, the movie failed to get a release date in China. It takes very little time to put two and two together. The is most likely why our Chinese pals will not get to see Doctor Strange 2.

Like we said, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been banned in Saudi Arabia and Egypt as well. Although they do have different but equally insane reasons. Saudi Arabia and Egypt denied screening the movie in their theaters because of America Chavez. The LGBTQ+ representation irked both these Middle Eastern nations. So they have decided to permanently blockade the movie from premiering in their countries.

That will be a resounding yes. China does have the firepower to make or break a movie. That is the reason why so many movies make it a primary objective to market the movie as much as possible in China. But there is a silver lining. Almost all recent Marvel movies that haven’t been released in China like No Way Home and Shang-Chi have done pretty well, box office wise. Disney is taking a tough stance against media censorship and it is good to see that they are still making enough bucks to keep the naysayers quiet.

Ahmah Maslan pinjam RM1.1juta bayar kompaun

Ahmad Maslan hanya mampu menjelaskan kompaun sebanyak RM1.1 juta - yang kemudian membawa kepada gugurnya kes mahkamah terhadap Setiausaha Agung Umno itu - selepas membuat pinjaman kepada rakan-rakannya.

Peguam yang mewakili Ahmad dalam perbicaraan tersebut menjelaskan situasi tersebut - yang dipersetujui bersama oleh pihak pendakwaan dan pembelaan - dalam kenyataan yang dikeluarkan pagi ini.

"Untuk makluman, jumlah kompaun yang dibayar iaitu RM 1,100,000 adalah (hasil) bantuan dan pinjaman daripada rakan-rakan yang telah menyokong Ahmad sepanjang perjuangan beliau," kata firma guaman Tetuan Shahrul Hamidi & Haziq.

Menjelaskan proses tersebut firma guaman itu juga berkata ia berlangsung sejak lama dulu dan pelbagai semakan dan usaha dibuat termasuk mengemukakan inkuiri kepada Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR).
