Requesting Help on Choosing a Gaming Laptop

I'm not experienced in these computing terms, and I'm hoping to get myself a decent gaming laptop that can last for at least 3-4 years. Of course, I will be using my laptop to do some university assignments too.

My friends introduced me to the Alienware M14x, and now I'm torn apart in choosing whether to have a better processor or graphic card since my budget is rather limiting. The specs of my choices are as below:

Choice 1:
Processor: 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2430M 2.4GHz (3.0GHz with Turbo Boost, 3MB Cache)
Video Card:3.0GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus™ technology

Choice 2:
Processor: 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM processor (2.2GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.1GHz, 6MB Cache)
Video Card: 1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus™ technology

Besides that, I welcome any recommendation of good gaming laptops.

I'm rather unhappy with M14x's 14inch screen and non full HD. I'm thinking of getting another Full HD monitor in order to enjoy the best out of the M14x, but that's kinda complicated IMO.

So if you know better laptops with >14' screen, full HD, good graphics (again, I'm not proficient in those names of graphic cards and processor, hence requiring forum-ers help) and within the price range (max at 4.5k), please do let me know.

I understand that for Alienware I'm paying alot only for the branding, but in my situation, in my school, a little show-off can help in order to get into a better social circle. I will do my consideration thoroughly, so feel free to give any sorts of comment. Thankyou.
