Tips on protecting your website

Good tips on protecting your website!!!

Try to keep your website admin out of sight, if its easily seen by users, there is usually a problem as hackers will do everything to have access to it...

Its also adviseable to move your configs files outside the root folder...

Its good to redirect all IP addresses except yours, also using .htaccess: For secured login areas...

Password Protect delicate folders/files via Cpanel..

Its good to rename you admin folder or take it somewhere hidden...

Always delete Installation folder of file after installation, mainly for scripts that requires auto installation...

Set your files,eg. config.php, admin/config.php etc to 444,644 and more secure permissions which you have...

Might also be good to set index.php to 444,644 etc, execpt (777) to avoid any outside script attacks, as these typically try to edit all index.php and config.php files globally do this after website setup, incase it needs to be set before website set up, not the case for all..

If you have a blog be sure to use a very secure password, do not use a simple name or your name, use something completely different and complex

Upgrate your scripts and software regulary, PHPBB and Vbulletin etc, always ensure you get the latest version to avoid getting hacked

Always make backup of your site from time to time, don't just upload and upload, back up and prevent looseing everything all of a sudden

Make a Very Strong Password for your Cpanel and FTP

Finally the use of CHMOD 777 (read/write/execute), is not really safe, it gives hackers full access to your files/folders...

Test your website from time to time, for bugs very important!!!

All i can think of, if you have any please contribute....

Hello all, this link here http://www.realtranslatorjobs.com/ is a scam 100%, i got to know about it yesterday, it got displayed on Google ad, might look real from there and their sweet words might too, but the thing is "ITS SCAM" 100%, tell your friends and families, this is just another stupid rip off website, and i Googled about this website, and found out that there are over 7 of it still existing onlien trying to claim it nt scam, below is posts from a review website and an image of the stupid scam website!!

from
http://tjsdaily.blogspot.com/2011/06/realt...w-100-scam.html

Realtranslatorjobs.com has a Page Rank of 0 and an Alexa Rank of 1,834,794. Meanwhile, this blog ranks 267,176. The reason why all these fake websites are topping the Google SERPs is that no one gives half a mind with this scam.

So anyway, I googled for the phrase "realtranslatorjobs.com." Guess what? The first 10 pages you'll see in the SERPs about the said website are all fake review websites saying that realtranslatorjobs.com isn't a scam. There's more: Each fake .com site has a hop link to Clickbank. This means that if you click through these fake website links to realtranslatorjobs.com and you pay $34.00 as a membership fee, the owners of those fake websites will also get a cut of your money. Wow, is that pure greed or what? But wait, there's absolutely more!: All these fake websites literally are copies of each other. And even if you go to page 15 of the SERPs, you'll still get lot of fake review websites. And if you still signed up and paid $34.00, I'm sorry to say this but you're a moronic idiot buffoon living in a cave with your momma.

Realtranslatorjobs.com has a Page Rank of 0 and an Alexa Rank of 1,834,794. Meanwhile, this blog ranks 267,176. The reason why all these fake websites are topping the Google SERPs is that no one gives half a mind with this scam.
---------------------------

Stay away from this junkies, and think about this, if you can earn $180,000 as a translator online, then everybody will be translators....

Warn everybody you know, especially those desperately looking for jobs online or work at home programs they might just be another victim...

Create a shopping cart

This is the first tutorial, i hope that it will be useful to someone and that you will like it.

In this tutorial i will show you how a basic shopping cart works, and how to build your first PHP shopping cart.

First of all, let's imagine a supermarket crowded by people buying goods. Every client has it's own shopping cart and that's why we need to keep track of everyone's purchases without mixing them up with each other. The simplest way to do this is giving every shopping cart a unique ID. The products that the clients will buy will also have a unique ID. Finally, we will have to link the single shopping cart with the client. In this following example, users do not need to register to shop so we will not have a list of users to link user name and shopping cart ID. We can use several other methods instead, but i will explain this further during the tutorial. The next image is a schema of what written up here:

In the upper illustration you can see three tables, everyone used to store different information.
We have a table that contains data about every item, with a random generated ID, like:

ID: 47JER32DN0
NAME: Water Melons
PRICE: 1,95
DESCRIPTION: Fresh water melons. Country of provenience: Turkey.

The ID is also the primary key of the table witch means that it can not be duplicated (it will be impossible to have two items with the same ID).

The table that contains data for every shopping cart is made pretty much like the items table, every shopping cart having it's own unique ID, so there can not be two shopping carts with the same ID, just like the items.

After building the two tables, we have to link it with each other and for that reason we will need a third table called rel because we need a many to many kind of relationship. A many to many kind of relationship stands for 1 item can be found in more than 1 shopping cart, 1 shopping cart can contain more than 1 item.

The table rel has a primary key composed of two elements that can not be duplicated together. To make more sense out of it, take a look at the image bellow:

The section in red shows what explained earlier.

Ok, it's time to create the three tables using the code below:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

CREATE TABLE `carts` (
`ID` VARCHAR( 10 ) NOT NULL ,
`DATE` DATE NOT NULL ,
`IP` VARCHAR( 20 ) NOT NULL ,
PRIMARY KEY ( `ID` )
) ENGINE = MYISAM;

CREATE TABLE `items` (
`ID` VARCHAR( 10 ) NOT NULL ,
`NAME` VARCHAR( 50 ) NOT NULL ,
`PRICE` FLOAT NOT NULL ,
`DESCRIPTION` VARCHAR( 100 ) NOT NULL ,
PRIMARY KEY ( `ID` )
) ENGINE = MYISAM;

CREATE TABLE `rel` (
`ID_CART` VARCHAR( 10 ) NOT NULL ,
`ID_ITEM` VARCHAR( 10 ) NOT NULL ,
`AMOUNT` INT NOT NULL ,
PRIMARY KEY ( `ID_CART` , `ID_ITEM` )
) ENGINE = MYISAM;

Pay attention at the data types used for the creation of the tables.
The id's are VARCHAR(10) which means that the ID will be alphanumerical composed of 10 characters and that it can not be null. Another important thing is that the connected fields between the tables must be the same data type.
The price of every item is FLOAT data type so we can store prices with decimals.

Download the code and insert it into your MySql. You should obtain:

Congratulations! You have now created the basis of your shopping cart. What's left to do is linking every single shopping cart with the client.

Considering that the users do not need to register in to place an order, we have to think about how to resolve this problem. A way of doing it is to link the tutorial's ID with the user's IP address, but what about users that have a dynamic IP address that changes every time they connect? This means that the link between the user and it's cart will be lost.

Another way of linking users and carts without forcing the user to register is through cookies.
You can set a cookie containing the shopping cart's ID related to the user and ask for the cookie every time the user accesses you website.
Watch the following example of code:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

<?php
if(isset($_COOKIE["shoppingcart_id"]))
{
//the user already has a shopping cart
}
else
{
//the user does not have a shopping cart.
}
?>

In case the cookie is not set, you can choose to create the user's personal shopping cart when he adds an item to it for the first time, or as soon as he visited your website for the first time.

I will create the shopping cart as soon as he accessed the page using the code below:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

<?php

//generate a random 10 characters code
$shoppingcart_id = generateid();

//get the current date
$today = date("Y-m-d");

//get the users's ip
$user_ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

//now, you can register the shopping cart into the DB
mysql_query("INSERT INTO carts (ID, DATE, IP) VALUES ('$shoppingcart_id' , '$today', '$user_ip')");

//after registering the new cart, set the cookie to the user's browser

//set the lifetime of the cookie
$expire = time()+60*60*24*30; // (1 month lifetime)

//set the domain for which the cookie is valid
$dom = $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'];
if($dom[0] == "w")
{
//truncate the first three characters
$domain = substr($dom, 3);
}
else
{
//add point
$domain = ".".$dom;
}

//finally, send the cookie to the user agent
setcookie("shoppingcart_id", $shoppingcart_id, $expire, "/", $domain);

?>

The function that generates the ID code could be built like this:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

function generateid()
{
$nrC = 0;
$chk_code = "";
$char = "";
while($nrC <= 9)
{
$c = rand(48, 90);
Great SEO Tips

It is not hard to be barking up the wrong tree when it comes to getting search engine traffic because there is so much out of date information being circulated.

Not only is there out of date or invalid SEO advice getting around, there is also information which if acted upon, can result in your pages being banned.

The SEO tips below should assist the reader in forming a basic understanding of how to create human friendly web pages which are easily understood by the most popular search engines.

Know this. There are thousands of search engines but only two of them will bring you most of the traffic. They are google and yahoo. Another search engine that brings me a little traffic is msn but I do not focus too much on tactics for that engine.

Focus your attention on the engines that will bring you the most visitors first and work your way down.

Basic SEO

1. Insert keywords within the title tag so that search engine robots will know what your page is about. The title tag is located right at the top of your document within the head tags. Inserting a keyword or key phrase will greatly improve your chances of bringing targeted traffic to your site.

Make sure that the title tag contains text which a human can relate to. The text within the title tag is what shows up in a search result. Treat it like a headline.

2. Use the same keywords as anchor text to link to the page from different pages on your site. This is especially useful if your site contains many pages. The more keywords that link to a specific page the better.

3. Make sure that the text within the title tag is also within the body of the page. It is unwise to have keywords in the title tag which are not contained within the body of the page.

Adding the exact same text for your h1 tag will tell the reader who clicks on your page from a search engine result that they have clicked on the correct link and have arrived at the page where they intended to visit. Robots like this too because now there is a relation between the title of your page and the headline.

Also, sprinkle your keywords throughout your article. The most important keywords can be bolded or colored in red. A good place to do this is once or twice in the body at the top of your article and in the sub-headings.

4. Do not use the exact same title tag on every page on your website. Search engine robots might determine that all your pages are the same if all your title tags are the same. If this happens, your pages might not get indexed.

I always use the headline of my pages as the title tag to help the robots know exactly what my page is about. A good place to insert the headline is within the h1 tag. So the headline is the same as the title tag text.

5. Do not spam the description or keyword meta tag by stuffing meaningless keywords or even spend too much time on this tag. SEO pros all agree that these tags are not as important today as they once were. I just place my headline once within the keywords and description tags.

6. Do not link to link-farms or other search engine unfriendly neighborhoods. A good rule of thumb is if your pages do not contain any words that reflect the content of the site you are linking to, do not link to it.

7. Do not use doorway pages. Doorway pages are designed for robots only, not humans. Search engines like to index human friendly pages which contain content which is relevant to the search.

8. Title tags for text links. Insert the title tag within the HTML of your text link to add weight to the link and the page where the link resides. This is like the alt tag for images.

My site contains navigation menus on the left and right of the page. The menu consists of links not images. The links are keywords. When you hover over the link with your mouse, the title of the link appears. View the source of this page to see how to add this tag to your links.

9. Describe your images with the use of the alt tag. This will help search engines that index images to find your pages and will also help readers who use text only web browsers.

10. Submit to the search engines yourself. Do not use a submission service or submission software. Doing so could get your site penalized or even banned.

Here is the submission page for Google.

Submit only once. There is no need to submit every two weeks. There is no need to submit more that one page. Robots follow links. If your site has a nice link trail, your entire site will get indexed.

One fact i put in mind about ranking N0.1 in a search engine is not about paying for an ad, for example from google "adwords", doing it the traditional way first then comes ad... In my own opinion!!!!

Why Google +1 will fail

As Google’s +1 Button gathers more data it will become part of Google search results algorithm but according to me Google +1 will fail drastically when implemented in search algorithm for multiple reasons.

1. +1 requires Google profile

Making a Google Profile a requirement for +1 buttons is a move on Google’s part to match Facebook’s user profiles. The aim of Google is to have more Google profiles which mean Google has more personal and demographic information about user than it has currently. The motivation for Google is obvious. It needs more user personal data to show more and more related ads to you.

2. +1 May be for SEO Spammers

Google Panda update took a big toll on search engine spammers but with +1 Google will open doors once again for spammer. Google +1 is clearly showing signal that it can give you search ranking benefits where as with Facebook like button, user only recommends the content to their friends. The more motivated user of +1 would be a person intensely interested in search engine ranking.

3. +1 in Google SERP’s May be useless

I am not sure if I could ever judge from Google Results (Read Google search result excerpt) the quality of a site or content. If a user doesn’t know the quality of a page before a visit, how can they honestly click on +1 for it? In short, Google needs other ways to gather data before they can show recommendation and so they need to convince webmaster’s to have the +1 button installed on their site.

4. Google needs Friend Information

Google is focusing more on getting user profiles but for +1 to work on search results page they also need to find people I know i.e. my friends. If I click on +1 it does not make sense to have the same recommendation shown to me again because I anyway know it is good but it makes lot more sense if my friends see my +1. How will Google gather information about people I know can be tricky and I hope it’s not using the GMail’s address book?

Google has tried this social network thing and failed many times, and this Google+1 is sounds like a clone of Facebook "Like" button to me!!!
I am not trying to predict anything, i just shared my taught.

What Google +1 means to you?
Creating a Perfect CMS

Tips for good CMS website!!!

1. The CMS you choose should be really good at whatever the main function of your website is.

What do you want your website to do? Is it going to be primarily a static website, like an online brochure? Or is it going to be a fully-functioning ecommerce site? Or maybe it’s going to be really media-heavy with tons of videos, photos, and audio files. Or is a blog going to be the primary focus?
Whatever your site’s primary function is going to be, you need to define it and then find a CMS that does that particular thing really, really well. If blogging is the main focus of the site, then use a blog platform. If images and video are the main focus, then you need to find a CMS that either has great support for media built-in or has great plugins for enabling those functions. If your site is going to focus on an online store, then the platform you choose needs to be able to seamlessly integrate that online store without a ton of extra work.
2. A CMS needs to work intuitively.

When you average user opens up the backend of the site, they should be able to figure out how to do basic functions without too much instruction. Different elements of the site should be clearly labeled. The basics of posting a new page, editing a page, and even changing themes or sidebar elements should all be relatively simple to figure out for the average computer user.
3. The backend needs to be standardized.

Things should all work basically the same way in the backend of the site. A good CMS should have a standardized format for each section of the backend. If one section uses a drop-down menu for selecting something, then all of the other sections should use the same type of menu for similar options—not radio buttons or some other selector.
The same goes for the way things are named or otherwise referred to. If something is called a “page” in one place and a “post” in another, that’s going to get confusing (plus, most people consider those two different things). If it’s a “sidebar” in one place and a “second column” somewhere else, that’s going to confuse your average user.
4. The backend needs to be logical and well-organized.

Things should be laid out logically in the backend. This means that all of the functions related to editing, or sidebars, or themes, or creating new content, should be grouped somehow or otherwise function the same. Alternatively, some CMSs put all of the things related to pages in one place, sidebars in another, plugins in another, etc. Either way, they’re laid out logically and once you know the basic architecture, it’s easy enough to figure out where things are supposed to be.
5. The right CMS shouldn’t have a ton of extra functionality you’ll never use.

This is a completely personal choice. Some sites will make use of tons of advanced functionality. Other sites won’t. If you’re never going to have an online store, why do you need a CMS that focuses on ecommerce? If you never plan to do anything beyond posting photos to your site, why have a CMS that does that plus a hundred other things? Instead, find a CMS that does the one thing you want to do really well and forget about the other features.
6. The right CMS should be easy for non-geeks to use.

Web designers and developers are very good at using web-based applications and pretty much anything else computer-related. A lot of their clients, on the other hand, probably aren’t. While most of the end-users of any CMS are going to have at least basic computer knowledge, they’re probably not super tech savvy. While you might love a particular CMS and think it’s the best thing since solid-state hard drives, your clients might find it confusing, hard to use, and overly complicated.
The question I always ask myself when considering this is, “Could my mother use this?” My mother is your typical business computer user. She can do spreadsheets, word processing, and email, but she’s definitely not a techy. If I’m confident that I could easily explain a CMS to her and she’d then be able to use it with a minimum of later support, then I know it’s going to be appropriate for 90% of other likely users.
7. It needs to include a WYSIWYG editor.

WYSIWYG editors make life easier for your clients. Most clients don’t know HTML and don’t care to learn. But they want to be able to use bold or italic text or use header tags to create sections within their pages. A WYSIWYG editor makes that all possible for non-tech-savvy users.
8. The pages it creates should be fast-loading and have simple code.

One of the major advantages of a CMS is that it simplifies the updating and management of a website. So the pages it produces should also be simple. There shouldn’t be a lot of extra code or provisions for unused functionality in the final page code. All that serves to do is slow the load times for the page and increase the likelihood that something will render wrong or throw an error.
9. The template engine should allow you complete creative control.

Some CMSs have very set ideas about what a website should look like. There needs to be a sidebar for navigation. You shouldn’t use navigation dropdowns. The content has to be arranged in nice, neat columns. Who’s the designer here? Whatever CMS you choose should let you design pages the way you want and should work around your needs.
10. The right CMS should have adequate support and documentation.

In all likelihood, you’re going to run into some sort of problems with any CMS you choose. Whether this is caused by add-ons or in the course of customizing some bit of code, or whether the CMs is doing something unexpected, having somewhere you can turn to to get advice on how to fix the problem is invaluable.
This doesn’t necessarily have to be some expensive tech support phone number or other paid support.

TOP TEN CMS OPTIONS

WordPress
Radiant CMS
SilverStripe
Joomla!
TYPOlight
Frog
Textpattern
ExpressionEngine
Drupal
CMS Made Simple
---------------------This are great tools when you think of creating a CMS website...
