hi all..imma 3rd year med student...which means, i have clinical practical where i go around in the ward to interview patients and also read tonnes of books.

Frenz United Football Academy or FUFA for short was recently introduced to the Malaysian public in conjunction with the launch of its tournament, the Frenz Trophy 2012

A priceless gem has been uncovered, nestled in the hills of Janda Baik.

On a piece of a 5-acre land, lies a football academy that has been hailed by the FA of Malaysia (FAM) as ground-breaking.

Frenz United Football Academy or FUFA for short, was recently introduced to the Malaysian public, in conjunction with the launch of its tournament, the Frenz Trophy 2012.

For many months, the project, a private initiative, was kept under the radar.

News of an academy equipped with state-of-the-art facilities began to circulate among football practitioners when Frenz went on a search for a technical man to head the project.

In came Omar Ali, a former Selangor youth coach who had trained among others Amri Yahyah, current skipper of the Red Giants. Omar is the technical director.

Chief coach is former international defender, Ahmad Fairuz Yunus, who has the experience of handling Malaysian juniors at the sports school in Bukit Jalil.

Modeled after football academies around Europe, the academy does not accept walk-in students.

FUFA is exclusive for talented footballers. Young players identified through the various age group tournaments are handpicked to enter FUFA, subject to the blessings of their parents. The players are housed at the dormitory and are sent to SM Saleha, a private secondary school in Genting Highlands.

Each player earns the privilege of a scholarship worth RM80,000 a year, which means their needs are taken care of.

The driving force behind this project, however, is not a Malaysian. FUFA chairman Rashid Maidin is a Singaporean.

An executive chairman of a company that dabbles in coal mining, shipping, hospitality and timber with business interests in Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Middle East, Rashid is a 40-year old football fan with money to burn.

Rashid and Frenz United chose to have a tournament held under their auspices to tell the public of its existence. A busload of media personnel were taken to the academy, a 40-minute drive from city centre to witness the launch of Frenz Trophy 2012, a tournament that caters for Under-14 players.

In what is unprecedented for a youth tournament, the opening match was telecast live over Malaysia’s first sports channel, Astro Arena 801. So will be the final on June 29. In the intervening weeks, a 30-minute weekly highlight of the tournament is shown over the same channel.

In his speech, Rashid spoke of the Academy’s objective to provide a platform, at grassroot level, for youths to compete among their peers. “Frenz’s ultimate aim is to cultivate a team of world class players to compete in international football arenas,” he said.

Recalling the day the academy began its operations, Rashid said: “This academy was officially started when the first batch of young recruits from a total of 52 shortlisted players from all over the country ranging from age 12 and 13 years, were welcomed to this premises on December 26, 2011.”

FA of Malaysia general secretary, Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, hailed Frenz United’s initiatives as ground-breaking. “We are impressed with the facilities available at this academy. Frenz United can be a model for others to emulate. We are pleased to be lending our technical support to Frenz United.

KUALA LUMPUR — Isteri Perdana Menteri, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor dinobatkan sebagai Tokoh Industri Sukan Negara 2012 pada Majlis Anugerah Industri Sukan Negara malam tadi.

Anugerah yang julung kali diperkenalkan itu disampaikan oleh Presiden Majlis Belia Malaysia (MBM), Mohamed Maliki Mohamed Rapiee dengan disaksikan Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, pada satu majlis makan malam di Menara Kuala Lumpur di sini.

Rosmah, yang juga penaung bagi Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) dan Yayasan Kebajikan Atlet Kebangsaan (Yakeb), merasmikan majlis tersebut.

Dalam ucapan beliau, Rosmah berkata, golongan belia perlu melihat penglibatan di dalam industri sukan sebagai peluang untuk meningkatkan tahap ekonomi diri dan keluarga.

“Kesemua kemajuan dan transformasi di dalam aktiviti-aktiviti yang berkaitan dengan sukan akan mewujudkan peluang ekonomi yang besar kepada belia,” katanya.

Turut menerima anugerah pada majlis berkenaan ialah Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Zokples Embong (Anugerah Pengurusan Sukan dan atlet skuasy kebangsaan, Azlan Iskandar (Anugerah Khidmat Masyarakat).

Persatuan Pengurusan Pelanggan dan Pusat Hubungan Malaysia (CCAM) meraih Anugerah Perkhidmatan Pelanggan manakala Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (Syabas) muncul penerima Anugerah Promosi Gaya Hidup Sihat Melalui Sukan. — BERNAMA

A New Jersey woman arrested for allegedly putting her 5-year-old daughter in a tanning booth says it was all a big misunderstanding.

Patricia Krentcil, 44, told NBC's local New York affiliate that she took her daughter with her to a local tanning salon but that the child was not exposed to the booth's synthetic UV rays.

"I tan, she doesn't tan," Krentcil said. "I'm in the booth, she's in the room. That's all there is to it."

Krentcil, of Nutley, N.J., was arrested last week, and charged Tuesday with felony child endangerment. She was released on a $25,000 bond and is due in court Wednesday.

"It's like taking your daughter to go food shopping," Krentcil said. "There's tons of moms that bring their children in."

Police, though, say Krentcil put her daughter in an upright tanning booth.

New Jersey state law prohibits children under the age of 14 from tanning booths. Children between the ages of 14 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Police were alerted by school officials, who say Krentcil's daughter showed up for school with what appeared to be a sunburn, then told classmates she "went tanning with Mommy."

Rich Krentcil, the girl's father, told NBC the teacher misinterpreted his daughter.

"This whole big thing happened, and everyone got involved," he said. "It was 85 degrees outside, she got sunburned. That's it. That's all that happened."

my waja is 2001 made...yesterday, i was driving my car and i notice that smoke is kambing out of the engine hood, i saw the temperature; >90 liao...

im sked, so stopped at the side of the road, and i saw water leaking out of the radiator..damn! my belt for alternator also reput ady...i just notice this now since i have no problem with the car before...plus, i always warm up the engine before i drive.

so, my question is, how much is the estimated repair cost for my car?

i draw comics for the purpose of presentation my assignments...since i study medicine, i find it easier for ppl to understand my presentation by reading my comic...that got me thinking, why don't i make a webcomic on my own?
