Career Advice

Hello guys, brief introduction on myself, I am a fresh graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an Australian University. Result .. so so, not so good not so bad, 3.0 CGPA.

My actual plan before I graduated was just to join any O&G company since I'm from Miri, Sarawak. But then with the current layoffs and crude oil prices, not much luck for me. Applied for quite a few companies, waited for a few months, no news.

Fast forward to today, I accepted a job as an assistant service engineer in a Japanese MNC supplying light machinery (plastic injection molding machine) in PJ, doing after sales stuffs (installation and commisioning of new machines, service, technical training, visit clients all over West Malaysia and SG).

So my question is... there are alot of paths to go for a fresh graduate engineer, whether it be production, process, project, service, design, and etc.
-What is a good route to take as a mechanical graduate engineer?
-Is it advisable for me to stay in service route for 1 to 2 years, then go over doing other sort of engineering from scratch?

My reason for joining my current company is because i gain close to zero hands on technical skills in my university, so i figure it might be useful for me in the future, if I were to be on a managerial level or something.

I have never thought about my future so much while I was in my studying years, I was a pretty happy go lucky person. But now that I've graduated, been thinking a lot and its sort of stressing me out. Would like some advice from more experienced people out there.

Milky Way | Landscape

Um, I think I'll start with a brief introduction of myself first I'm Jonathan from Miri, just picked up photography recently, currently using an x100 and is very very interested in taking shots of landscape.

Truth is, I've been yearning to take photographs of the Milky Way since some time ago, but since I've been normally shooting alone and shooting Milky Way requires going to dark and rural area, with the addition of increasing crime rate nowadays, so I've never had the chance to go out and shoot during midnight.

So, the purpose of creating this thread is to find someone in Miri, Sarawak that shoots the Milky Way and that hopefully I'll be able to tag along during your next shoot, landscape shots will do too wishing to improve my skills as well
