1. Seems to take out at me personally for reasons best known to himself.

JOHOREANS, this topic is especially for you all who are all eagerly waiting for YTL Wimax YES to come to your place......yes, YES is coming to your hometowns as well.

You all JOHOREANS must have heard that while our 4G network remains as fast and strong as it is, we’re facing some teething problems which we’re improving them as we speak. We are now ready to expand our network coverage and sales & marketing presence in all other areas to serve the underserved broadband communities across the nation.

I’m in the midst of compiling feedbacks/inquiries from the consumers in Johor for Yes4G service. I need info such as consumer inquiries on Yes coverage, requests for coverage, inquiries for high speed broadband service here in Lowyat forums, other internet forums, blogs, twitter, facebook, etc, etc.

With these info, we shall bring up to the authorities in Johor for approvals to expand coverage in Johor.

. Yes, all the 8 Johor major towns [ Kluang, Muar, Batu Pahat, Segamat, Kulai, Skudai, Mersing, Pontian] are very much in our target expansion areas and we target to complete all of them in stages by end-2011 if not earlier, subject to other issues such as local authority approval, etc.
· Current focus is UTM Skudai / Taman Universiti, greater JB areas, high density and areas along NS highways.
· Sales & marketing activities will go northern states soon in 1st half of 2011 and then coming down South.
· Yes package currently caters for mass consumers (light to medium / casual / student users) but we will introduce ‘Add on’ packages to serve higher usage customers in conjunction with our Yes Zoom (home gateway) device launch in January. We have special packages too for enterprise customers.
· We have live coverage in KL, most major towns in Klang Valley, NS highways, Kuala Selangor, Ipoh, Kampar, Penang, Alor Star, Seremban, Melaka, JB and Skudai area. We have put up towers in east coast main towns as well and will go live soon. Coverage is 65% of populated areas by end-2010 and target is 80% by end-2011.
· If you see some of the blogs and twitters you’ll see how our network has been performing in terms of speed and coverage.
· I need a real consumer feedback that they want Yes coverage in Johor for us to put up a stronger case to Johor authority to expand our network coverage there.

Just received some latest news personally from CEO’s Office , YTL Corporate Communications.

Our network engineering team members are currently very engrossed building the network to reach 65% of populated areas nationwide. Our device team are collaborating with a globally-known device manufacturer on a number of 4G mobile devices for more options to customers based on their needs and budget while our product team members are innovating the latest applications to run on the network. The Marketing team, meanwhile, is working on exciting, affordable service packages and the customer service team is building an interactive-based, world-class customer care infrastructure and all to be ready by our service commercial launch in Q4 this year for a wholly-new customer experience which will improve the way Malaysian learn, work, and play.

As an integral part of our 4G ecosystem, we are working with best-in-class partners such as Clearwire, Cisco, GCT, Samsung, and soon with the other world-class IT players to bring the best 4G device and customer experience to all Malaysians. In fact, today we signed a collaboration agreement with the world market leader in computer chipset which will include its extensive interoperability tests on our 4G network to profile their services as compatible with the wireless chipset. With this partnership, the power of our 4G network opens up to a whole new range of consumer devices, such as WiMAX-embedded netbooks and laptops.

We are actually in the ‘soft launch’ mode already with the robust 4 network is actually up and running with internal friendly user trials (FUT) is currently on-going to fine-tune the network and to test the mobile devices. By end-2010, we shall sign up with all public and selected main private universities to offer 4G experience to 400,000 students nationwide and help to achieve the country’s National Broadband Initiative (NBI) to reach the 50% penetration rate by year-end and become a ‘broadband nation’ as envisioned by our Prime Minister.

Kuala Lumpur, 24th February 2010 – YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, which will soon launch its 4G network in Malaysia, today entered into contracts with Samsung Electronics (SAMSUNG) to increase the numbers of base stations for its nationwide network buildout and to acquire innovative in-building solutions for superior in-building coverage.

Under the arrangement, SAMSUNG will provide additional 500 WiMAX 2.3 GHz radio base stations to expand coverage. This is in addition to the 1900 base stations currently being deployed. SAMSUNG will also supply 2000 units of smaller base stations, or picocells, for In-building network coverage. SAMSUNG picocells are innovative, small and cost effective base stations and best suited to provide superior in-building coverage.

The agreement underscores YTL Communications’ aggressive pursuit of building toward a broadband nation and marks SAMSUNG’s dedicated and full support of YTL Communications’ deployment of 4G services in Malaysia. SAMSUNG will share its WiMAX expertise and provide YTL Communications with best-in-class WiMAX base stations and picocells, enabling YTL Communications’ vision of creating a nationwide 4G network to bridge the digital divide.

YTL Comms set to launch nationwide 4G network

KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Communications Sdn Bhd is poised to become the first in the world to launch a nationwide 4G network, offering state-of-the-art mobile Internet connectivity to Malaysia.

The communications utility of YTL Power International Bhd said it is committed to purchasing one million units of WiMAX single chips from GCT Semiconductor.

“This purchase agreement demonstrates YTL Communications’ commitment and marks GCT’s dedication to fully support YTL Communications with its deployment of a nationwide 4G service in the country.

“GCT will share technical expertise and provide YTL Communications with the most advanced and lowest power WiMAX chips available on the market today, making YTL Communications’ vision of creating a complete ecosystem with nationwide mobile Internet service using 4G a reality,” it said.

The one million units purchased will be consigned to key original design manufacturers selected to provide innovative 4G devices to YTL Communications this year.
