Ichthyosis Vulgaris

Hi all,

Initially I opened a thread on Dermal Therapy Alpha Hydroxy bulk orders, but I thought of opening up a thread where those with Ichthyosis Vulgaris dry skin disorder could share their tips and experience.

What is Ichthyosis Vulgaris or IV?
Ichthyosis vulgaris is a skin condition that causes dry, dead skin cells to accumulate in patches on the surface of your skin. It’s also known as “fish scale disease” because the dead skin accumulates in a similar pattern to a fish’s scales.

Personal experience
I have IV since 6 and have used MANY creams, lotions and potions available, but most just maintain the moisture but never reduce the appearance of the scales from The Body Shop cocoa butter, Nivea, Rosken, Vaseline, L'occitane, some other big tub of urea, which works a bit, but doesn't contribute much difference in terms of appearance). In late 2012, after reading Ichthyosis forums, I found out that someone has recommended 'alpha hydroxy lotion' to not only moisturize the skin, but it actually exfoliates as this disorder caused from disability to shed the scaly skin.

Potential products that could work for IV sufferers:

IV cannot be cured on one go, it takes a daily effort of maintenance since our skin regenerate constantly and have difficulty of shedding normally, hence the scaly skin appearance.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014, first of all!

I would like to re-stock my favorite lotion, Alpha Hydroxy Lotion from Dermal Therapy for this year. This is purchased all the way from Canada and like my other favorite product, Cetaphil, this product has TREMENDOUSLY HELPED AND CURED MY VERY DRY SKIN. Since the age 5, I have suffered a dry, scaly skin disorder called Ichthyosis Vulgaris (aka fish scale disease). If anyone with similar dry skin disorder would like to try out this product, you can reply thread below and PM me by Jan 10, 2014. I will re-order back for 2nd batch scheduled around May 2014.

One bottle would typically last me about 3 months. Though my main problematic area is my shin (legs), I also apply swiftly around my arms, shoulders, torso, thighs and my shins as these parts of my body are dry.

What I love about this product:

1. Reduced 80-90% of my scaly appearance
2. Moisturize, but not sticky and leave shiny finish on skin like other heavy cream
3. Exfoliates. I didn't understand this function at first when I read it cos its a lotion, not a scrub. But after using this, I started to understand. With other lotion/heavy cream, I still need to exfoliate regularly, but with this, I don't seem to have any excess dead skin to remove...

Company Trip Suggestions

Hi all,

I am in charge to look for a place for my company trip. So far places I found places like...

1) Pulau Gemia: is too small to fit 200 px, as they can only squeeze in 135 px. Nice place already but too bad maa...
2) Club Med Cherating: No budget..too expensive, haha!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Best if it's like a private island. Here are the requirements;

1) Date - April/May 2010 tentatively
2) Duration - 3days 2 nights (Fri-Sun)
3) Quantity - 200pax. Rooms are on twin sharing basis. F & B: Buffet meals with BBQ and alcohol drinks to be included.
4) Activities - Mixture of outdoor team-building events and light sports etc during leisure time.
1 themed night on the 2nd night with group performances.
5) Budget - RM700-900 (per pax)
6) Journey - About 4 hours or so (somewhere around peninsular)

Since this is a company getaway, the level of activities should be moderate (family-like), minus the kiddie playground. Not all the guys will snorkel since not all people 'can' snorkle, so places like Redang or Perhentian will be quite a bore. Activities like kayaking, friendly nature sightseeing..nothing too extreme...

Any cool experience, places to go would be HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

Where to print personalized Serviette?

Viva vs. Myvi

Okay, I'm getting a new car, and to be exact my very first car.

Parents's friend is selling 2nd hand Honda Accord '97 4AT RM25k. My friend keep saying its not worth buying old and boring car, parents said its cheap, safe, summore its my first car. Me, I just want to a car, hate depending on people to go back home, here and there.

So...skip, skip. What if I go for the new VIVA or MYVI?

Friend 1 who owns a Myvi said its good to get Myvi...she said that Viva is equivalent to Kancil. A bit bias, I guess since she never drove a Viva to begin with.

Friend 2 who used to drive a rent Viva said Viva is very fuel efficient, no doubt about that. Every article I've read said this.

Dad said go for Myvi. More safer, worth it...(for some reason I just hate the frog like exterior. No wonder ppl said Ah Soo prefers Myvi, Ah Moi likes Viva)

I visit the Perodua shop a month ago and did a price comparisons on these two cars. I would go for the higher specs (with ABS and all), and Myvi is RM11k more than Viva. A few other article sez its only RM5k, but that was like, 2007?

Personally, like some other girls, I like the sleekness of Viva but everyone keeps saying that Myvi is safer. I do want to live for another 20-30 yrs, so getting a bigger car kinda 'shielded' me from accident's impactl...aih aih... peniiing!

What do you think guys? I would prefer opinion from people who drove either or both of these cars. I want to know (safety, reliability, value, etc). Friends or relative opinions also okay lor. Dun la recommend other cars, I know other cars are good, but lets focus on these two cars k?

Going to singapore

Hi. I'll be driving to Singapore from Cyberjaya tomorrow. Never driven to Sg before, only fly. Was wondering whether I should stop in JB and park my car or should I just drive inside? I don't know much way around Sg only by train, haha. Gps got, but on the phone only.

Btw, where to buy cheap electronics and clothes in Sg ar?

Where to print custom logo on rubber balls?

I bought a few rubber balls and wanted to have a logo printed on it. Not sure whether its called engraving or what. I want to have the balloon print effect. Anyone knows where to find such services? I'm guessing places that can print logo on balloons?

In addition, I need to buy a few bulks of cool merchandise from freebies to electronics (preferably corporate gift) and have it custom printed in 4 days. Hmmm, anyone with experience can recommend me places to go?

Backup Storage Solution

Hi, I'm looking for a solution to backup large amount of data frequently over weekly or monthly periods. I was thinking of either getting an external hard disk or maybe something like a bluray burner.

I'm looking for the most reliable method so data can be recalled whenever necessary and want to avoid any corrupt data. My data for backup will initially will be 100 GB and will update smaller amounts of data following that.

If we're talking about hard disk, what is the most reliable brands and technologies available? I've heard of many cases where users experienced hard disk failure and faced lost data. The data is work related and I'm not able to tolerate any risk of data loss.

I'm on my way to Lowyat Plaza now, in car on 3G
