i always see so many people complening about

"nowadays young people dont want to work long hours, complain environment shit and so picky" and not willing to change their working style.

and thus they cant hire / high turnover.

whos the problem here?

like it or not, the world is evolving and this is the work culture now. millennials r going to take up prominent business roles over the next 10 years. and if u not willing to change ur work style to accommodate to the current work culture, u r not going to sustain ur business in the future / u will retire early.

what is the justification of a "fresh grad"

just curious what are the justifications made for someone to be labelled a "fresh grad" other than obviously freshly graduated from uni.

for example, started working many diff part time jobs since high school,

took gap year between high school - college, college - uni.

worked in actual big companies full time, retail management level.

many experience in assisting in start up, sales, management, customer service.

even during uni days work part time overseas, very active in societies, win many awards, results also above average.

after graduate, go to job interview, interviewer say:

"i understand that you have good qualifications, credentials and experience, but because you are just a fresh grad there is a certain benchmark so we cant offer you a higher pay"

they offered rm2.3k celery.

would you consider this person as a "fresh grad"?

how malaysian culture perceive tattoo

in light of recent booming trend of tattoos especially in the circle of millennials and pop culture, tattoo is now an industry over $3 bil.

studies shown that one in three millennials in the USA has tattoos.

one in five people in the UK has tattoos.

in malaysia, tattoo is also a booming industry with lots of new parlours, tattoo exhibitions happening all around and also, more and more people getting tattoos.

most of my friends has tattoos. most millennials in msia has tattoos. even me myself, i have a couple of tattoos.

but throughout history, especially in asian culture, tattoos are a taboo and it relates to gangsterism, criminal activities and slavery, etc. mostly examples that are unglamorous.

nowadays, people get tattoo for many different reasons - self identity, individuality, art, culture, tribute, memory, or even as scar coverup.

in western cultures, the mindset of tattoos = bad are fading out. people are accepting tattoos for what they represent now, and not what they use to represent.

even professionals, like doctors have tattoos.

however, in malaysia i believe it is a whole different story. many employers still despise people with tattoos.

people with clear visible tattoos will still get stares in public.

tattoos are still associated with gangsterism and criminal activities.

what are you guys thoughts on tattoos?

do you guys accept tattoos? do you think tattoos mean someone is unprofessional? you as an employer, would you strike someone off your list just because they have tattoos?

come back from overseas no friends

i just recently graduated from uk after a couple of years.

i come back from uk few months ago and i feel like cannot click with any of my friends anymore.

in a way i feel like their mind still stuck in high school. same old.

dont mean it in a way to say that im better. not being arrogant but all they do is just party and drink, cant have serious conversations with them.

dont want to go out with them cause feel like waste time.

not much chance to meet new friends too now that im working.

feel like my life just going to be like this forever.

anyone with same experience?

edit: i make this post coz feel lonely. just wan to release my thoughts cause no one to release to. lol

edit 2: i wan to talk to them about life. everytime i talk about career and goals they think i am humble bragging. they only wan to talk stuff like party and play.

engineering graduate to work in management

hello,

i've recently graduated mechanical engineering and my interest has always been revolving around business and commerce, management in particular. (don't ask me why i went for engineering i already graduated)

i've gotten a job offer in management and is heavy on corporate strategy, governance, communications, finance etc. (my first job)

i'm very interested in this field but i am also very worried i cannot pick up and will not perform as is totally diff from my degree.

any advice?

Hi, i just went to langkawi and rented a car, im a p driver and i didnt bring along the p sticker and kena road block by JPJ at langkawi, so end up kena summon.

the JPJ officer say just pay fine can already, but in the summon paper they said:

"KAMU ADALAH DENGAN INI DIPERINTAHKAN SUPAYA HADIR SENDIRI ATAU MELALUI PEGAUM DI HADAPAN MAHKAMAH MAJISTERET DI LANGKAWI
YOU ARE HEREBY ORDERED TO APPEAR IN PERSON OR BY COUNSEL BEFORE THE COURT OF A MAGISTRATE AT 14/9/15 JAM 8 PAGI DIKELUARKAN PADA 11/6/15 JAM 1130 PAGI."

What does this mean? Pls enlighten, thanks

Taylor's Lakeside Foundation

Hi, I'm a SPM leaver and I'm currently choosing the next path of my life.

Below will be a lot of bullshits, if you are too lazy to read, I will be highlighting my main concerns that needed help and advices from fellow members of LYN.

Anyway, I already made up my mind that I will be going for Engineering course. My dream is to go to the UK, but I'm not financial supported. So, I am taking the Universities loan PTPTN. What I have realized is there is a programme in Nottingham Msia that provides transfer programme that allows me to use Malaysia's school fee to go to the UK to study. Considering Nottingham is a well known and ranked University, this could be the best possible path I will choose.

Anyway, I do realize Nottingham provides foundation courses for me to direct enter to take up degree in the university. Sadly, my results do not reach the requirement (just add maths) and application was rejected. So, I have to take up pre-u in other universities / colleges. Me myself know that it will be a big trouble and definitely suffering if I choose to take up A-Levels because my straight-A brother had a really hard time and barely survived taking up A-Levels. So, the best choice would still be foundation in engineering.

Now, I have my mind set on the programme I will be taking up, the only concern is the university / college to pick from, which I need help on. As I had mentioned, I want to enter to The University of Nottingham to pursue my young dream. The best choice to me is actually Taylor's Lakeside University as the location is the most convinient for me, and the campus is quite beautiful and new. I do understand the hypocryte comments regarding Taylor's Lakeside that it is a university for spoilt brats whom parties all day and not study. This will not be a big concern to me as I think I am quite a disciplined student that knows when to study especially experienced failure of being rejected from a University that I dream of going. Anyway, the main concern is that :

I have heard from a friend that, taking up Taylor's University Foundation Programme will actually lead me to studying engineering programme in Taylor's itself and Taylor's will not let me continue my degree in another university unless $$$$ and will go through uncertain procedures.

or

Nottingham will not accept foundation graduates from another University, unless they are the top students.

If the above concerns are true, what other choices do I have???

Hi, my Acer Aspire 4930's battery have some problems. Whenever I remove the charger and power the laptop with battery, it has notices coming out telling me that there is a problem with my battery and my laptop will shut down suddenly. What is the problem? Can this problem be solved?

Hi, I have a Pearl Forum Series drum set, and when i disassemble it for a performance, i accidentally dropped the big tom on the floor and the tom skin torn. My question here is, how much is a new drum skin for the big tom?? Secondly, my hi hat stand has a little problem, when i press down the pedal, the pedal can go all the way down even when the hi hat top is locked. Can I find a way to fix it or I have to replace a new hi hat stand? And if I have to replace a new hi hate stand, how much does it cost for a new hi hat stand? Please help!!
