Which is the best place to put your mobile phone ?

Hello everyone. Recently my mobile phone got stolen as I was taking a bus home from Bukit Bintang area (Beware of a thin guy with sunglasses, slightly curly hair & goatee). The same thing almost happen again yesterday but luckily I was alerted and straight away I chucked my phone in to my bag. The culprit instantly get off the bus.

Maybe it's because I'm an easy target as I usually carry my mobile phone on a waist pouch for easy access so I would really like to know if there is better place to put the phone as to prevent this from happening again (preferably some place easy access and not damaging to the phone).

Thank You.

Petition to Namco for Soul Calibur V

One of my friend informed me of a petition going on at Facebook to get enough people support for Bandai Namco to make the next Soul Calibur game. There is also live twit from Kastuhiro Harada (Producer of Bandai Namco) linked directly to this petition. As a fan of the series I have done my part by participating in the petition so here's hoping that all SC fans here at LYN can help by doing the same. All you need to do is just click on "Like" to sign the petition. Your support is greatly appreciated .

Hi all. Basically my company print their cheques via our in house software but lately it's getting more and our deskjet printer is starting to give problem. Our CFO is too "finacially aware" to have the bank print them for us. I'm am at the moment looking for a replacement. Can anyone suggest a good printer which is suitable for cheques printing in bulk (a few cheques at the same tim instead of 1 by 1). I'm also wondering what cheque printer the banks are using and if it's possible for a normal company to get one of those.

Thank you.

I heard from my friend that the Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo Ultra II (15MB/sec) is performs very well on the PSP as games load a lot faster than usual Memory Stick. Does anyone know where I can I get my hands on the 8GB version in Malaysia (better still in KL) ? At the moment I can only find the 4GB edition and wondering if it's enough.

Thanks.

Help...My Ebay account has been suspended

Hey all. I have just received an e-mail informing me that my Ebay account has been suspended. Problem is they did not state the reason why my account is being suspended. I only use this account to buy stuff and haven't even put up anything for auction/sale till date. I only bought 1 item through the account in August and that's about it. I am suspecting that my account might have been stolen and being misused...sigh . A feedback has been sent to Ebay officials and hopefully I will be able to restore my account. Any one here encounter this before ? Maybe share some experience on how to resolve this problem ?

Thanks in advance.

TLS.

Any alternative to PCAnywhere ?

Hey all. Can anyone suggest an free/cheaper alternative remote control software that work as well as PCAnywhere ? It is getting more expensive as our outlet number has grown and we keep renewing the PCAnywhere licences for both old & new PC. If possible please suggest RA software with the following functions :

1.Able to Connect to remote PC without loging off the remote user. (So Remote Desktop is out of the question since the remote user will be log out automatically)

2. Able to transfer files between host & remote.

3. Able to see remote users actions on the remote PC desktop when not interfering.

Alternately can anyone maybe suggest a user friendly remote file transfer program ? We can just use programs like RealVNC or Logmein for remote support but we will still need to find some way to allow us to do file transfer between local & remote PCs.

Hope you guys can help.

Thank You,

Tan Lee Seng.

Preventing users to change Windows XP Setting

Hi all. Anyone here know how I can prevent users from doing the following :

1. Disable network connection.

2. Install non standard software in to the system.

Most of them run on Windows XP Home while some on Windows XP Pro. I cannot set them as normal users as some of the programs need an administrator privilege in order to work. There are no such option in the Local or Group Policy setting so the only way I can think of is setting the control through some tweaking in the registry.

Thanks in advance.
Windows 2003 File Sharing Problem

Hi all, my office has been using a Win 2003 server as an internet server for a long time but recently it started serving as a secure file server. Things have been fine for the past few months until 2 days ago when suddenly things go haywire. We manage to "save" the server but somehow the file sharing is not working properly anymore. What I have noticed is that the network file sharing is control by the Local Security Policy within the control panel's Administrative Tool. Within the Policy there is a value called "Access this computer from network" which usually contains a list of users who have rights to the shared folders but somehow after the incident the whole thing got wiped out blank. We try manually input back the user list, it works for a few minutes then the whole list just went blank again. This is frustrating as the user list keeps resetting to blank after a while.

Please help if anyone has knowledge on this problem.

Thanks.

FTP Error 500 Invalid PORT Command

Greetings all. I recently encounter a problem that prevents all my client PC (outside office) from delivering data & getting new updates from the FTP Server located within my office. It was working fine until 24/11/2006 (Fri). Further investigation reveals that when the client PC is connected to the FTP server the error " Illegal PORT Command" occurs when the client PC is trying to access files in the FTP server. Everything was working fine until the abovementioned date. The update script is working properly when I do it on local network but not when using my client PC. I don't know if any of the recent Streamyx maintenance has anything to do with it. Have any of you encounter this error before ? Please help .
Below are summary of the specs I'm using :

Office FTP Server
OS : Windows XP Pro
FTP : Microsoft built in IIS 6 FTP
Firewall : Windows Firewall (not switch on)

Office Internet Server
OS : Windows 2003
Internet connection : TMNet Streamyx 1MP Corporate
Firewall : Wingate 6 (Port 21 redirected to FTP Server IP)

Client PC
OS : Windows XP Home
FTP : using FTP.EXE with script to download file (mget)

Client PC <---internet---> Office Internet Server <---Port 21 redirect to FTP Server IP---> FTP Server

Streamyx connection problem since 28/11/2006

Has anyone else encounter the Streamyx internet connection slowdown since midnight on 28/11/2006 ? I notice that TMNet has done maintenance work on 26/11/2006 but since then the connection has got worse and there is no further announcement of upcoming maintenance. It was so terrible until my MSN message keep bouncing back a few times. Website access is so slow and some site can't even load at all. I have reset my modem router a few times but it just get worse. By the time it reached 1-2am my connection becomes total crap so I just give up . The connection returns tomorrow in the early morning . I'm ok if it's only my home affected but my company rely a lot on data transfer during midnight and I'm scared it might have been affected (the data these few days shows a high failure rate). Ohh...BTW I live in Taman Maluri, Cheras. Please share your experience if you have encounter similiar problem recently.

Thanks.

D-Link DSL 500G Router

Hey guys... does any owner (or ex-owner) of the D-Link DSL 500G Router have this problem where by the router is unable to detect the DSL connection (DSL light not lighting up at all) ? I dunno if it is cause by the thunder storm a few days ago. The router seems to be fine and I can still access the setup screen through the browser. Only thing is there is no DSL connection. I have resort to use back the Aztech DSL-900E that Streamyx provided but this modem is buggy. It hangs after a while if I am using bit-torrent program. I heard from my friend that D-Link modems/routers have a lifespan of only a year (same as the warranty) but dunno if it's true ? Please share your thoughts if you have experience this before.

Thanks.
