Distance between Noctua NH-D15 and GPU

Hi,

for the following config, will the distance between Noctua NH-D15 and GPU be very close?

CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15
Mobo: MSI Pro PRO Z790-A WIFI
GPU: ZOTAC 4080 16GB AMP Extreme AIRO

looks too close for comfort from the picture i found, some suggest using ruler to reach the pci slot latch to release GPU

appreciate sharing of the experience using NH-D15 and navigating the tight spot to release GPU, thanks!

Why kedai emas price higher than market price?

surveyed few kedai emas the 916 gold price is around rm 280-290 per g, but 999 gold market price is around rm 255 only (referring to Maybank Gold Investment Account that is 999), that's like 10% premium and lower purity

moreover the shops will add labour cost to final price

the premium price at kedai emas is normal?

say i buy at rm 280 per g, but selling price will follow market price of rm 255, definitely making a loss right? doesn't sound like a good investment if buying through kedai emas

wonder if the orico bay i'm using above is of good quaility, as in it won't kill my HDD due to issue such as voltage irregularity?

Claim 3rd party (motor) insurance

My car was hit by a motor from behind last weekend. Both of us have made police report. The motor rider stated his police report that he hit my car from behind, and he was fined. I wasn't fined. Keputusan report will only be ready in another week.

My car insurance is 3rd party (Tune Protect), while the motor's insurance is comprehensive (Allianz).

I'm planning to claim the motor's insurance. I'll be repairing the car at a workshop that doesn't do insurance claims, thus will pay first and claim later. The repair cost is estimated to be RM 1000.

I need the loss adjuster report to claim the insurance. My insurer and the motor's insurance say i need to get the report myself. So i'll need to pay for it first, roughly 500.

Question: Since I need to fork out 500 first for the loss adjuster report, would like to know how likely my claim on motor's comprehensive insurance would be successful ? I've asked a relative, he say very hard to claim motor insurance...

3.5" HDD disconnects randomly

i have a unit of wd green hdd, wd30ezrx, 3tb put inside an usb external casing, it's always connected to my desktop

suddenly last week unable to detect the drive, i tried restarting my pc, changing usb port then sometimes windows can detect it, sometime no

took out the drive and connect it directly to my desktop mobo, running fine for few days then it randomly disconnects while the pc is on, when i restart pc sometime it's there, sometime it's not. sometimes after it disconnected, it will reconnect back

i've switched the data and power cable, still same issue

out of warranty d, any suggestion to save it?

[WTA] LCD TV as pc monitor for gaming

Planning to get a gaming rig (most likely gtx 970) and attach it to 40" lcd TV in living room, distance between TV and couch is around 3m

mostly for casual gaming and watching movies

games i'm gonna play:
-far cry 4
-skyrim
-diablo 3
-dota 2

found some of the issues with using LCD TV as monitor:
-input lag
-hard to read text
-hard to aim precisely for FPS games
-video will blur when playing fast paced games

wanna get some feedback from fellow forumners here on their experience using LCD TV as pc monitor for gaming, like how it performs during fast paced and fps games, and issues stated above

another question, should i get 1080p or 4k LCD TV?

p.s. plasma TV could be a better choice but it seems like some manufacturers had begun to stop producing plasma TVs

2TB WD My Book Essential 3.5" fail to power up

My 2TB WD My Book Essential 3.5" external drive, model no. WDBACW0020HBK-01 suddenly failed to power up, it just sit at a corner and i rarely move it

i check the adapter and usb cable, both working fine

my warranty finished d, called wd support to try my luck, they say need to send in for RMA and the files inside need data recovery, ridiculous

Google a lot and apparently the control board is the culprit, the hdd is still ok 1, i pry open the casing and found the control board part number 4061-705094-001 Rev 13R

the data in the hdd is encrypted by the controller board, thus putting the hdd into a generic casing to access the data wouldn't work

the solution is to replace the controller board, found a seller online but just buying the controller board would cost over 200 whereas a new 2tb drive is just 350++

anyone here experience the same problem and manage to fix it? or if you know where to get the controller board locally?

I'm planning to buy a buffalo external hdd, so i'm wondering what brand of hard disk brand they use for their portable and external hdd, since its not mentioned in the product description.

I've read few threads but some say WD and some say samsung, so it means they use more than 1 brand of hard disk?
