PC randomly restart

Hi experts,

So, I am having problem with my custom build rig. Starting maybe 2 or 3 years ago, this PC will just randomly restart. There doesn't seems to be any pattern. Sometime I am on Facebook, sometime I am playing game. Got one time, I start PC, then go out of the room to fetch water and chat a bit with my family, when I come back, it is restarting liao.

Then after a couple of weeks, everything seems fine. But not long after that, it happen again. It's an on and off thing that frustrate me to no end.

Anyway, a few months ago, I replaced my hard disks and re-applied the thermal paste. Recently, it start to restart again but I notice something else this time:

1. Last night, the power LED is blinking, I didn't notice that it blink before this.
2. Right after it restart, the first few times it will fail to start up. Sometime even fail to get into BIOS.
3. Sometime while playing games, there are some weird graphical glitch.

So, I suspect maybe graphics card or PSU kaput liao. Just now I googled a bit I see someone suggest that running 3D Mark 11 test to see if it crash during the test. So, I try lor. Well, it didn't crash but the result was very bad
My PC is only slightly better than office PC built in 2013. FPS for graphics test about 2.41 to 5.06 and even highest fps for physics test is just 13.01. Is this normal FPS? I thought I heard a lot about people wanting to run their game at 40 or 60 FPS?

So, I kind of want to end this problem, what will be the best options for me?

1. Replace GC and PSU. <- But I don't even know if they are the culprit at this point. If they are not, then I am just wasting my money.
2. Get a new rig and see if I can salvage any part from current build.
3. Give up on custom build and look for pre-built or laptop.

Or does anyone manage to identify my problem?

Problem with desktop restarting itself/can't boot

Hi guys,

I started to have some problem with my pc since a few months ago and it is getting progressively bad. It started out with simply restarting when I was using it. The first few times it happen, I thought it was some windows update thing but it happen everyday. I got very frustrated but the restart problem seems to happen randomly, I can't pinpoint any reason for it. At one point it start to restart during boot up and simply looping the start screen. So, I guess that's it and bring it to shop. When the technician boot it up, everything is fine and he just look at me and goes, "So....where is the problem?"

After that visit, it doesn't happen so regularly anymore for some reason. But starting from about one month ago, I can't shut down normally . Windows will just go into "Shutting down" screen and nothing seems to happen. However, using command line shutdown /s /t 5 can shutdown the pc. Using batch file with command shutdown .exe -s -t 5 doesn't work though. But this is not a huge deal for me, I will just use command line to shutdown.

Recently however, I start to notice problem during start up. During booting, sometime pc will just restart, then scan disk c for damage, restart, then attempt to repair, then at one point it will provide me with some troubleshooting action. Choosing restart at this point seems to be fine. Oh, and until now, the restart problem haven't fully go away. It will still randomly restart my pc. In fact, I am typing this fast so that I got chance to click post because I don't know when it will restart. I did notice that if I left my game running then go to shower or eat or something, then the probability of it shutting down/restarting automatically is higher.

To be honest, at this point I am quite tired of living in a world where my pc will just restart anytime with no warning liao. So, can anyone help me to pinpoint the root cause? Thanks much in advance.

So, I got a phone call way back last year from this number: 032338883. The amoi introduce herself as some representative from electronic company. Very fancy Chinese, aka I don't understand half of the things she spew out. The core idea is she is telemarketer trying to ask me to do some survey. Then she start to ask those normal survey question, got use this brand, got use that brand, got ~~fap liao?~~ heard of our company, etc. I decided telemarketer is human too, so I only half troll her. She asked for my exact Chinese name at the end of the call.

Then, at the end of last year, she (or another amoi, they all sound the same) called again and ask me to watch Astro on 27 December. They got some sort of ~~troll~~ live show for god know what reason. I told her ok, but never had the plan to watch their shitty show. She confirmed my Chinese name. I found that odd because who the hell care? Anyway, I just confirmed it and thought this is the end of it.

Then, today she (or another amoi) call again. She tell me I won a trip to Europe! They are giving me 50K Euro on some sort of shitty card that can only be used on Europe and they will bring me around to 5 countries in Europe. She didn't mentioned if they are selling piglet (human trafficking) or not. I immediately thought "cool story, bro" but decided to just entertain her. She insists that it is totally legit and aired on Astro during their 27 Dec Live Troll From Hong Kong Show. Then, she give me this number: 0085230697959 and also her name which I immediately forgot. It's probably Zhang Xin or Shang Xing(Sadness) or some other trollish amoi name and tell me to call fast since they will leave for Europe from Hong Kong on April 1.

Now, I have no intention of calling that number since this is 98% scam and 2% April Fool joke. I just want people to be aware of this 傷心 amoi from Yi Hao Electronic Troll Shop in Hong Kong. Of course, suggestion to troll her is always welcome. I had been nice and patient in the last three call. Once you cross from telemarketer-trying-to-fed-herself to penipu scammer line, then you are game.

The university's president, Dr Nariman Farvardin, presented the "Distinguished Service Medal" to Rosmah in recognition of her public service, especially in the areas of empowering women and gender equality, and the important role she plays in enforcing early education among Malaysians.

Acute Leukaemia patient in need of donation

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! Recently a friend of mine had approaches me and bring to my attention a sad case of a poor 20 years old girl who is recently diagnosed with acute leukemia. She needs a generous amount of donation, both in form of monetary aid and O type blood. Bone marrow will be even better. I was told that she currently has enough blood supplies, but just in case of emergency, and other patients could use it anyway, do donate blood. PC fail to start up

Greetings, people.

Recently a friend of mine is having this problem, which I try to solve, but due to my own limited experience and knowledge, I found myself as clueless as him. I will try to explain the situation the best I can here.

Basically, when he turn on the computer, the computer do not always able to boot-up. Sometime, there is no familiar beep sound, and the monitor is not getting any signal. Sometime, there is a beep sound and the computer manage to boot.

However, even when the computer manage to boot, it does not means the end of the problem. When I first see the computer(Windows XP), the best it manage to boot up is to the black screen prompting you to start the computer normally or start it in safe-mode. Attempt to start it normally will cause the computer to just freeze at the selection screen. Going into safe-mode will show you a BSOD.

After trying to boot from CD a few times, I had managed to reformat his computer, but it work for maximum of 15 minutes before freezing again.

Then, I had try to use 2 Linux Live CD to boot it with little or no success. The booting process(provided it can boot at all), sometime will freeze at a few instance that seems random. Sometime, I manage to boot it and get into desktop, but within a minute, the PC will freeze without fail, regardless of what I do(or didn't do).

I had also notice that sometime, there is some lines or other odd patterns on the screen with some odd colour. I am under impression that the graphic card may not be working properly but I am not totally sure.

Whenever the computer freeze, the CPU are pretty much still working, fans are running, there are lights from the CPU, DVD drive and graphic card's fan is also still spinning. Sometime, when it freeze, everything on the screen totally freeze, sometime there are additional coloured pattern that can be observed. And in yet another instance, the cursor of the executed line during the boot up is still blinking(but refuse to move any further).

Is the graphic card not working, or there is other culprit?

Any advise and suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
