need help in setting up wireless network!

hi guys. i need some help here. im new in wireless network stuff and i got my linksys wireless router today. its a WRT54G v5. i installed it according to the steps in the installation cd.

at first, it was working fine without any security. the other pc (using WMP54G) can connect to the router and the internet without any prob. after that, i thought it would be better to enable some security feature. so i tried to enter the router setup. when im in the setup page, nothing turns up. only the firmware version and a few ip address. there's supposed to be tabs which i can navigate through. but there isnt any

so i reset the router and again, i went through the setup procedure and opted for 128-bit WEP encryption. then, i try detecting the networks again on my other pc. found it, entered the networks key and....it couldnt obtain an ip address. so i tried entering the router's setup again, and again the blank screen with only firmware version shows up again.

am im missing something here? really need help . thanks in advance

* i just did an internet search and found alot of complains on this v5. is my case caused by v5 too? if yes, what should i do? i guess they only have v5 nowadays
