Keep Business Working Capital in USD?

In my small business, most of my revenue and expenses happen in USD.

Currently, the cash flows from Revenue (USD) -> Local Bank Account (MYR) -> Expense (USD)

I'm losing like 5% from currency conversion and credit card transaction fees.

So I'm thinking to hold the revenue in USD and use that as working capital:-

Revenue (USD) -> X (USD) -> Expenses (USD)

PayPal won't work I think, because not everyone accepts it and the fees are quite steep.

Anyone has any experience in this area?

How many of you still watch local TV channels?

I used to be an Astro subscriber until I could not tolerate the $ (poor software developer here)
now I only watch local tv channels. Seriously it's quite ok. We probably spent most of our time in front of a computer anyway.

What about you guys?

An Android app that I did last weekend

So I spent the last weekend developing this little Android app for fun.

It's called Malaysia TV Guide. You can probably guess what it does by its name.

It should support down to 2.2 Froyo even though I haven't tested it.
I'm using ActionBarCompat, which was recently supported through the support library, for the action bar.
As for the navigation I'm using SlidingPaneLayout with a simple listview to show the channels and a custom fragment to show today's program.

For communication with server I'm using IntentService to wrap everything nicely in the background.

Shameless plug: Malaysia TV Guide

While we're at it, if you're developing a REST client apps for Android, you might find this video helpful.

App Review Club for Developers - The Arc

I saw my friend shared this website called The Arc on Facebook and decided to share it here.
The idea is quite simple, it's a social platform for app developers to rate each other's apps.

It's still in prelaunch, so you can only leave your email in their website for updates.
But as a small-time indie developer myself, I think I will find it helpful for my apps..

App developers of Lowyat might wanna check it out:-
http://thearc.io

Cheers

How many of you are mobile developers?

Just curious about demographics of mobile developers in here.

I'm an Android developer. What about you guys?

P/S: I forgot to add the fifth option: Miscellaneous
Would you comment in this thread what platform do you develop for if it isn't one of the four options available?

Would you review my app in your blog for free?

Hi all,

I'm looking for someone who is willing to review an app which I have developed.

It is a shopping list app for Android that supports list sharing among friends and family.
You can add items through scanning bar code, voice input or plain ol' typing.
It is also learning-capable. It can predict your shopping list based on your shopping behavior.

It is a free app with no ads. This app will always be free but I might add voluntary ads (you can choose to disable the ads) in the future.

More info:
Rainbow Shopping List

Help out a fellow Malaysian developer
