Choice of university

I have recently been accepted by both NUS and Monash to study a course in business.

I have read some opinions on LYN that the business degrees are mostly generic and such. This would mean there would theoretically be little difference between studying the same/similar course in either NUS or Monash, is this true? From what I have found, NUS is generally much more reputable and could provide a better foundation and environment than Monash Malaysia.

After all, it is ranked significantly higher in various ranking systems (although there is criticism on the ranking systems). We, as Malaysians know of the high standards of NUS and I would think that this mindset should have some truth behind Singapore's strong education system.

So what I am asking now is that, would NUS offer a better foundation than Monash? Would employees be more willing to hire an NUS graduate than a Monash Malaysia graduate assuming they are of the equal standard? Will it benefit me in a way that graduating from NUS would allow me to work in Singapore which may (not definitely), give me a brighter future than working in Malaysia?

Thanks for reading, I hope some forumers can help clear my mind.

Question on PSD/JPA scholarships

Just read on the PSD/JPA scholarships that are given out. I am wondering what these scholarships entail exactly. From what I understand there are something like 10000 local scholarships and 1000 overseas scholarships to be given to students with 8A+ automatically and some to those with straight As.

Is there any specified bond period to the government after going on the scholarship? If so, what is the period of the bond, 5 years? 8 years? Also, during the bond period, where are the graduates sent to work, I have heard some being sent to UK to do engineering but end up in an administrative post after returning to complete their bond. Is the salary during the bonded period comparable to if they looked for jobs with no restrictions in Malaysia?

A further question on PTPTN loans, is it true that students that receive the loan can waive their repayment if they obtain first class honours in their course? I am confused about this as i read that it was only for those with their loans approved before 2005 but I have also heard others comment that is still ongoing currently.

Thanks!
