I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my old rig. It lags so much especially while browsing. It lags on dash home too.
Specs :
Pentium 4 3.00GHz
1.5GB of RAM.
nvidia 6600.
Is it too low?

Hi guys, recently I change my old rig with new casing. Sometimes I can boot it up without problem. The problem come and goes. The POST error beep is 'one long two short'. Now I cant boot it up at all.
Halp?

EDIT : I think it's 3 short beep.

I just got the 1100T and the stock fan is really loud under load.
Should I change the whole cooler or just the fan?
If I'm to change the cooler, any recommendation? Not doing any overclocking.

New rig failed POST

My new rig failed POST. I got continuous long beeps. According to the manual, the graphics card isn't inserted properly, but I did insert it properly. I tried swaping GC with my old rig but the problem still occur.

Corsair 2gb RAM DDR3

Corsair CX430 power supply

I need opinion the motherboard and graphic card.
Graphic card budget would be below RM300 and RM350 for motherboard.

I bought a Zalman CNPS9300 AT cpu cooler and I think its very noisy. The fan is even louder than Intel cooler fan. I thought it suppose to be ultra quiet

I want to ask, in the manual, it is stated that I need to activate PWM control mode in my BIOS settings but I can't find any PWM related in my M/B manual book.
My M/B do support PWM cause it has 4 pin connector for the fan. So how to enable PWM mode?

But using my old modem which is ZTE ZXDSL831, the speed is normal which is like 1k kbps.

Can't hear surround sound from 5.1 Speaker

I have a Logitech X540 and I can't hear any sound from my center speaker, rear left and right speaker. My soundcard is Creative Extreme Music.
I'm sure I plugged all the cables according to the color on the soundcard jack.
Help pls
