auto gate receiver setup

hi noob question here,

I have a 4ch receiver for my auto gate controller,
basically just need input A and B (if not mistaken, A=0&B=1 will open 1 side, A=1&B=0 will open another side, and A=1&B=1 will open both side).
i am not using the input C here, so not using button "4".

can I use 2ch receiver with 4ch remote?
mean press button "1" and "2" will open either side,
and press button "3" will open both side?

can the 2ch receiver handle the button "3" action (A=1&B=1)?

correct me if the info above is wrong.
