How much sound proofing is needed?

Hi all Sifus,

Just posting this topic to get some opinions on how much soundproofIng is needed to enhance the sound quality. And also where are the optimum place to soundproof i.e. door panel to strengthen the midbass? Trunk lid for best sub?

Heck recently after installing my sub, the midbass wasn't that much ommmph lah as compared to b4. It vibrates more hence the sound produced at certain bass level came out funny. Does this has anything to do with sp?

FYI - I did one layer of dynamat to both front doors. Should I add one more layer? What about the trunk?

Hi bros n Sifus!

Just want to share something win u all that today I've finally installed the much awaited sub.
An old sub by DLS called Classic W12B.
Have yet to properly run in and tan AA told me that i can come back again to re-tune if not so shiok hahaha nice chap.

But now already nice though I think there's room for improvement still. Oh well will try to upload the photo.

Came across this sub yesterday in one of the accessories shop in jb.
They are selling at rm550 with box...
Read in the nets that this is an entry level sub. But gives out good sub base. Anyone had any chance of audited this sub before?

Hi there all Sifus,

Need your expert opinion on choosing a sub. Maybe this kind of thread has been posted before, but I am really in need of good honest advice based on your knowledge and experienced.

Recently I am being poisoned to install a sub. So am confused between choosing the following subs as my priority is to sacrifice as little trunk space as possible but at the same time I want a good SQ sub. So here goes:

1. If I am to install a box sub in my trunk, would 10" be sufficient? As my installer told me that a smaller sub may have difficulty of going lower than 40dB. As opposed to 12" that can really go as low as 20dB. And how about the shallow sub? Are they any good?

2. What are your opinion of infinite baffle (IB) or free air sub? As compared to the box enclosure sub.

3. An 8" sub in a box and mounted in the cabin i.e. under the seat or below the glove compartment. How's the SQ like?

Ok finally my Audio System F4-240 is properly installed! A friend gave me a Bostwick Pre-amp and the installer put an RCA filter to cut off the hissing. The installer, an old timer who looked rather excited when i asked him to install the Pre-amp as well, probably his forte during those days, did an excellent job in tuning the sound just exactly the way I want it. Clean, warm and original!

And the result is wonderful! The AS amp really works wonders for my focal access

the sound that comes out from the speakers is uncoloured, very natural sounding and it's as though I'm listening in a recording studio. Pardon me for saying all those adjectives but that's how I feel and for a total of RM2,500 worth of investment for focal access comp, AS amp and dynamat for 2 front doors, - I would say I've achieved the SQ I'm looking for without having to change my original stock HU in my accord 2010

need advice on going active with current set-up

my current humble and not at all impressive set-up:

head unit - fac stock (accord 2010)
Comp - Focal Access 165 A1
Amp - Audio System F4-240

question:

a friend recently gave me a pre-amp (bostwick), so i am wondering the following:

1. can i go active with my current set-up?
2. If can / can not, what other things required for me to go active?

Need your urgent learned opnion on which amp to choose to best power my Focal Access comp (i know i have set one thread on this before but now i have finally shortlisted to the following amps):

1. DLS X-D20 (2 ch digital amp by DLS - made in taiwan)

2. Audio System F4-240 (4 ch amp - year made 2005 in mint condition) made in Italy (brought in by audioactive)

3. Pioneer GM-6400 (4 ch amp - made in malaysia)

Hi sifus out there!

i'm a novice in SQ

Need your kind opinion on which amp should i go for to power up my comp set (focal access a1). and pls dont tell me to change the comp set as i've just installed it on 7th April!

current set-up (as per my signature):

HU - Standard (Honda Accord 2009)
Comp - Focal 165 Access A1

Note: May be installing a sub-woofer (Focal 11" / JL Audio) at the back - of course if the budget permits hehehe
