I purchased a new Honda Civic FE RS on October 16, 2023. For the first six months, everything was fine, except for a few minor rattling noises inside the car. In the seventh month, I noticed the steering became difficult to control (affecting driving and safety). I went to the Honda service center to report the issue and was told the steering rack needed replacing. It took about two months for a replacement to be available (while driving with the problem for two months). About three months after the replacement, the same problem reappeared, so I went to the Honda service center again and requested another steering rack replacement. Again, it took about two months. Each warranty claim process was extremely cumbersome and time-consuming. First, they required me to bring the car to the service center for inspection and to have technicians take photos or videos to prepare a report. Then, the report needed to be sent to Honda Malaysia for approval before ordering and replacing the steering rack. Therefore, I had to visit the service center at least twice to resolve any issues.

Then in October 2024, I received a call-back notice stating that I needed to return to the service center to replace the faulty steering rack. I was told that after the call, the same problem would not recur. However, less than three months after the call, the steering rack started making strange noises again, and I went through the same tedious process of replacement. By November 2025, I had replaced the steering rack eight times, roughly every three months. Each time, I had to drive to the service center to have photos and videos taken before I could claim the replacement. After approval, I had to go back for another replacement, leaving my car at the service center overnight.

Then in November 2025, it started making strange noises again, and I requested a replacement. I waited about three weeks without receiving any updates. After calling Honda Malaysia, I received a call the next day from Honda Malaysia saying that the dealer service center would contact me. Then the dealer from the service center called to inform me that the replacement wouldn't be available until February 2026. This means I have to drive a faulty car until February of next year.

I don't understand why such a large company can be so irresponsible, selling a defective car and then replacing it eight times without solving the problem. The steering rack issue affects driving and safety. I asked Honda Malaysia if they could effectively resolve this issue, and they said maybe in six months, but they weren't sure when they would notify me; they needed notification from Honda headquarters. I asked for a refund, and they said no. I asked for a replacement, and they said no too. Their answer was that they could only keep replacing the faulty steering rack, which would keep recurring.

I don't understand why such a large company can't solve the problem for two whole years. I bought a new car hoping for fewer problems, but buying this Honda Civic has become a nightmare. It needs to be replaced approximately every three months. And every time I need to go to the service center, I have to take a Grab to work. I asked them to lend me a car, but they couldn't even do that simple request. I bought the car for commuting, not to go to the service center every three months. Whenever I call Honda Malaysia to complain, they just shirk responsibility and tell the dealer to follow up. But when I get to the dealer, they say I have to wait for instructions from Honda Malaysia before they can take the next step.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 4 Tapah Officer Marazman Mohamad, who was part of the search and rescue (SAR) operation, said all of Mustaqqeem’s belongings, including his wallet, phone, sleeping bag and food, were untouched.

“Based on the victim’s condition, it seemed like he had succumbed to the cold and there was minor bleeding from his nose, likely due to the cold air, a symptom usually associated with hypothermia.

“The victim also did not use his sleeping bag, even though the temperature at the peak was extremely low. This indicates he might have lost his ability to think rationally due to extreme cold,” Marazman said when contacted on Friday.

He added that the victim had earlier complained of leg pain and was accompanied by a guide who later went down the mountain to get help, leaving him alone at the summit.

“I was informed that the climbing group consisted of 11 people guided by two mountain guides. One of them led the other participants down, while the other stayed with the injured victim.

“But the guide who stayed with the victim later descended again to find help, leaving the deceased alone at the summit,” he said.

Marazman, who is also a registered Forest Mountain Guide (MGP) with the Perak State Forestry Department, revealed that before the official SAR team was activated, there were initial attempts by the mountain guides and expedition organisers from Johor to locate the victim on their own.

He described the climb from Sungai Dara Dam, Behrang, to the location as taking about eight hours along a 12-kilometre trail that was extremely difficult, especially during rainy conditions.

“The path was slippery, rocky and flanked by deep ravines on both sides, making it difficult to traverse, especially during rainfall. The mountain, standing at 1,933 metres above sea level, is not suitable for casual climbers.

“The victim’s phone was found beside him, but there was no network coverage at the summit,” Marazman shared.

The climber from Sungai Petani, Kedah, was last seen by his teammates at Gunung Liang Barat at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, limping and walking slowly due to leg pain. He was later reported missing when he did not descend with the group.

The search and rescue operation was launched on Thursday, involving 43 personnel from multiple agencies, including JBPM, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Perak Forestry Department.

Yesterday morning, something terrifying happened at our home.

We’ve had our dog since it was a puppy, for over ten years now. Everyone in the neighborhood knows it. That morning, as usual, the dog was walking outside our gate, while my mother watched from the yard.

Out of nowhere, an old white van suddenly stopped in front of our house. Two men wearing blue polo shirts printed with “Baity Services Sdn Bhd” got out, holding dog-catching poles, and walked straight toward our dog.

The first time, they almost caught it, but the dog managed to break free and ran back toward the gate. They chased after it and managed to loop the noose around its neck.

My mother was terrified and rushed forward to stop them. By the time the rest of us heard the commotion and ran out, the dog had already been forced into an iron cage at the back of the van.

The two men claimed they were part of a “DBKL authorized dog-catching team,” saying the dog would be sent to DBKL and that we’d need to pay a fine of over a thousand ringgit to redeem it. At that moment, we had no way of verifying if they were telling the truth — we just wanted to save our dog as quickly as possible.

After some arguing, they told us to “settle it at the back alley.” In the end, we were forced to pay RM200 before they released the dog.

I’ll never forget that scene — the dog struggling desperately inside the cage, my mother’s face pale, crying and shouting at the same time.

After the incident, she couldn’t sleep for two nights. Every time she closed her eyes, she’d see the image of the dog being caught.

Later, we checked “Baity Services Sdn Bhd,” and discovered it wasn’t an authorized DBKL contractor at all — it was just a pest control company.

Even scarier, when we looked online, we found out this wasn’t the first time. Over the years, they’ve shown up in Kepong, Cheras, Ampang, Setapak — and now they’ve come to OUG.

Some people said they deliberately provoke dogs to make them react before catching them; others said they scout neighborhoods beforehand, specifically targeting houses with dogs.

Their goal is money. They don’t care whether the dog wears a collar, whether it’s a stray, or even if the owner is right there — they’ll still act.

It’s said that when someone calls the police, they immediately drive off.

We’re just an ordinary family with a pet. We don’t know the law, we don’t know how to tell who’s legitimate or not. We just know that if we’d been one minute later that day, our dog might never have come home.

That’s why we want to share this — to warn others. If you live in KL or around OUG and have a dog, please be careful. Don’t let your dog roam outside alone.

Magistrate Anis Hanini Abdullah handed down the sentence to M. Thineshkumar, who was also ordered to serve one month in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
Thineshkumar was charged with repeatedly beating the dog at his home in Taman Arkid, Ipoh, between the night of Sept 18 and the morning of Sept 19. The charge was framed under Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

According to the facts of the case, the dog, a male, belonged to the accused’s sister. On the night of Sept 18, Thineshkumar struck the dog with an iron rod despite his mother's attempts to stop him. The incident was recorded on a mobile phone video that later went viral.

The following morning, a neighbour witnessed the accused striking the dog again and heard the animal barking in pain.

When confronted, the accused claimed he had hit the dog because it had tried to bite him.

When the the accused's sister returned home, she found the dog in a severely injured and bloody state.

She rushed the animal to a veterinary clinic here, where it was found to be unconscious with heavy bleeding from the head and a puncture wound, consistent with blunt force trauma. The dog succumbed to its injuries later that evening.

During mitigation, Deputy Public Prosecutor Amal Aziemah Abd Kohar urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence to serve as a public lesson.

Thineshkumar, who was unrepresented, apologised and appealed for a lighter sentence, stating that he supported his family and reiterated his claim that he had beaten the dog because it had tried to bite him.
