Australian police investigate bomb "strapped" to woman

PERTH (Aug 3, 2011): Australian bomb squads rushed to a house in a Sydney suburb today to defuse what media reports said may be an explosive device strapped to a young woman's body.

Police said they could not confirm the reports that the device was strapped to the woman's neck or that the bomb scare was part of an extortion plot.

Assistant commissioner Mark Murdoch told television reporters that the woman was "in the vicinity" of the device, but would not confirm that it was strapped to her body.

He said the case was being handled by the robbery and serious crimes squad, which he said dealt with extortion, among other crimes.

"Specialist police are with the young lady and continue to verify exactly what we are dealing with," Murdoch said.

Police responded to a call about the suspicious package at the house in mid-afternoon and were still investigating the package six hours later.

"We have clearly found some items in the house that we are having a close look at."

Police said they had evacuated the area surrounding the house in the suburb of Mosman, one of the city's plushest districts. – Reuters

Oh my god just now drove back to home on the road got accident a motor hit a lorry butt and the motorcycle was lying below the lorry with the bloods arround the floor, .

for unifi i stay in ipoh and i check at the website it din't show the coverage in ipoh just want to make sure if got or not..

Man falls to death

KUALA LUMPUR (July 19, 2011): A man died after falling from level eight of a hotel here while five others including a woman were detained in a drug raid today.

Kota Baharu police chief ACP Mohd Azham Othman said the 24 year-old man died from serious head injuries while fleeing a police raid at 11am.

"Police seized heroin, syabu and some money comprising Ringgit Malaysia and Thai Bhat," he told reporters at the scene.

A police team from Narcotics Branch sprang to action after receiving information about a group of people acting suspiciously in a hotel room on level nine.

Azham said the police officers were forced to break down the door after all the suspects refused to open the door.

Police then detained four men and a woman aged 25-45 years in the hotel room and found the drugs.

The man who died had climbed out a window and jumped into a room on the eighth floor occupied by a couple.

"He then tried to escape and attempted to enter the adjacent room but fell to the second floor," Azham said.

The body was sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for a post-mortem while the case was investigated under Section 39B Dangerous Drugs Act 1959. – Bernama
