DELL Inpiron 14r SE - Need Some Expert Advice

Hi all,

Need your expert advice on the issue. I need a laptop for my work. Usage will be for

1- 3D Rendering - Mostly I use Bender , AutoCAD 3D and alike
2- Video Authoring - I use Vegas Pro 12 or sometimes Premier Pro
3- Image Editing - Photoshop / Illustrator CS 5
4- Game : No need. I am not a gamer. The only game I play would be Solitare
5- and other normal works like office suite and internet surfing but very minimal

This DELL Inspiron 14r SE looks very compelling to me. But thats maybe because I am a fan of DELL. (Currently use DELL Precision 490 Workstation for my works but now need to go mobile).

Screen size is not an issue as I normally connect the laptopto my 21" Monitor and work from there. I plan to change the HDD to SSD formy primary drive ( already have 1) and trade the DVD Drive with HDD cadet bay and have 2nd HDD install there for my secondary drive.

Can anyone suggest if this is a good idea? Or maybe there is a better lp than this one. Budget would be around 2.5 - 3K (max)

TQIA

Hi,

I need some guidance on how to install fingerprint door access controller.

I 'inherited' one of this FingerPrint Reader & door access controller from my boss and he want me to install at our place. The problem is it didn't come with any wiring diagram or watsoever. (hate it when given cheap piece of c**p like this and expect it to work like miracle. Hate my boss even more for buying it!)

Anyone has any experience wiring this equipment b4? Appreciate any help given or if you are staying near JB I am willing to pay for you to install it for me.

TQIA

Wireless Network Bridge

Hi all,

I need some advice on setting up wireless bridge between 2 building. The scenario is like this:

I have 2 2-storey building distance about 150 feet apart separated by busy road so I think putting down cable is out of the question. Building A got internet connection share with local LAN (wired). Building B got local wired LAN but no internet connection. I was planing to setup a wireless bridge between these 2 LAN so that PC in building B can access internet and other resource through gateway in building A.

Have google for some info and I think I got some idea how it will work. I was planning to use 2 unit DLink DWL 2100AP at each side of the building for the bridging purpose and replace the standard antenna with DLink ANT24-1400 14DBi outdoor directional antenna. Both antenna will be located at the 2nd storey of the building so I think it would have a good LOS and some clearance for the freshnel zone. It will look something like this:

LAN1-->switch-->>Dlink DWL2100AP-->>Dlink ANT24-1400-->>Wireless Bridge<<--Dlink ANT24-1400<<--Dlink DWL2100AP<<--switch<<--LAN2

Just need any advice or comment from other forumer who have experience in this setup. Will it work or is there and unseen problem here? fyi I am from IT background and quite familiar with network term and setting.

Any advice would be appreciated and sorry for the long story. Just need to give a clear picture

TQIA
