Unfair ISP User Terms & Conditions

to be fair we all also want more ISP around. that give us competitive package and price. however these are things can be done from end users,

1. be firm to ask details of the contract.
2. ask carefully termination terms
3. for wireless Wimax 4G as example if they say 2 years.
4. ask how much is the termination fee.
5. if they say remaining months multiply balance monthly subscribtion.
6. tell them face to face, that i can buy a new motorbike with this price within 2 years.
7. tell them the device only worth few hundreds only. why the hell penalty can comes to thousands of ringgit.
8. ask if they can officially give 1 year (to be fair).
9. try bargain lower down penalty around rm500 at one go or lesser upon actual value of the equipment & processing fee.
10. exercise your rights and turn down the offer. when less ppl sign up, you all helping existing users a great deal of favour. where their internet services are not affected by degradation neither do you.

sales and services are critical to establishment of any companies. the salesman are key person. where the highest management give them all due respect. cause they hold the company in revenue generation. the common ppl do is go for technical after sales support. which the ISP management regard as 2nd class layer. they say not happy go complain SKMM and the process take u round in circles. it depend base on case to case basis. which ISP they deal with. for some with multiple legal terms embedded are obviously harder nut for authorities to crack. so when you talk to the sales person. they inturn convey the message to their management. if their overall revenue is affected. surely the policy will be revised and more user friendly.

we all see trending YES 4G started it now follow by maxis fth and finally celcom fth. so what u have to say about i mean remainder mths x monthly subscription kinda policy. the trending now is more are to follow. they ISP had their own union to agree upon common terms sidelining end users. very soon they ISP dictate the market we all rakyat malaysia have to follow. for each new product they try harder to improvise their end user terms and bail themselves. it's moreless come to a situation you want it take it or leave it.

BLR Increase 2014?

I heard rumors of BLR is going to increase. Currently the amount is 6.6%. I do rough estimation if there are 1.0% increase. you keep on paying the current rate. your loan tenure will extend to another 2 years.

for example there are a time year back BLR 5.5%. now is 6.6%. what will happen if this keep on increasing. now with rumors of GST going wild. the rapid hike in cost of living. think of it if BLR increase further. what is the implication.

YES 4G LEGAL TERMS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

i been reading many fusses from many about the YES 4G 2 year contractual term with free devices. to be honest nothing is free in this world.

2 scenario here to go about. since i m postpaid user i elaborate more in details. so to summarize many pages of the YES legal documents... so layman can understand.

1. you buy the xs huddle using rm480 cash. you can opt for postpaid without contract or prepaid. so it's up to you to decide when to terminate. point is you already spent on the device and own it. either way it's up to you to sell it off 2nd hand.

2. when you are on postpaid with xs huddle. meaning 1st rm80 is your own money payable to YES non refundable via monthly rebate. the next rm200 is device upfront payment. lastly rm50 is plan advance payment. so the total is rm250 payable to YES. lastly is activation fee rm100 non refundable.

meaning to say YES will refund you rm10 via monthly deduction from actual plan cost till end of your 24 months contract. so the remaining balance rm200 of device cost is absorbed by YES. this is how YES revised a term to secure their investment. that you must to sign. this is security documentation written by YTL appointed legal professionals with many pages. an impossible hard nut to crack if u want to complain to MCMC or SKMM. the problem is you signed.

so it comes back to situation if you opt for
(a) contractual termination - you completed the 24 mths contact. for example rm109 package. you are required to pay rm99 monthly till end of your 24 mths contractual term. meaning to say rm10 device upfront is refunded back to you. after the contract is over the device is totally yours. you also can claim back rm50 device plan.

(b) premature termination - in short you are to pay remaining monthly subscribtion in full to YES. your device payment deposit refund for remaining months are forfeited. reason being you signed the legal documents for agreeing with the terms & conditions. not forgetting your plan advance payment of rm50 is gone with the wind (non refundable).

Maxis LTE coverage @Wangsa Maju Sek 2

my experience with YES at Wangsa Maju Sek 2 was awful. Where at first my Zoom blinks like nobody business and cannot get connected. However YES support team did helped me connected so that I can hang on till my contract end. in short the area part of YES coverage also at marginal. Speed is 1 - 2Mbps boleh pakai @ 1 bar.

On other hand i am using maxis mobile postpaid and coverage at WM sek 2 is full signal bar. wonder that applicable to maxis 4G lte also.

i was approached by Maxis agent that they have LTE for Wangsa Maju Sek 2 covered. Can anyone kindly share how your experiences. Why I open up this thread. Simple reason we cannot really trust coverage map. to be frank i learned the hard way after subscribe to YES 4G. shockingly they YES does not allow cooling period. when you already signed in. like it or not you stick till your contract end.

opinions are deeply appreciated. if Maxis coverage signal strength are way better practically. i make a shift over when my contract ends with YES in mths to come. it also shed the truth in helping new users and those who wanna chose right provider.

fyi WM Sek 2 mostly 5 storey flats.

Fiber To Home Installation (unifi or maxis)

ok let me elaborate on my tm installation. my connection from tm dp to outside of my hse is >15m. value is 17.63dbM. as for outside termination to end point is >10m from kitchen to living room is ~ 10m+. the value is 18.29dBM. according to the tm personal if total value >25dBM the huawei ONT will have prob to init. hence the link will be blinking rapidly longer time & slightly hard to get connected. he told me many installation can get away with 31dBM heheheheeee. the perfect installation is 16dBM which is minor or rare case at some residential area. but average for all homes >20dBM is where he noted throughout his career heheee..

lets do some calculations (on estimations)
10m = 0.66dB noise/signal loses, that means 1m you lose 0.066dB signal strength.

for my installation 25m x 0.066dB = 1.65dBm

which means 18.29dBm - 1.65dBm = 16.64dBM

this explains from tm communication center than spans multiple kilometers. the signal lost is already 16.64dB.

the point to note why some residential area. they suffer frequent disconnection. even so if they report the case to maxis or tm. they will always sent onsite support to check the physical cable. if everything is fine they wrap up for the day. the best they can do is replace the fiber ONT to satisfy you. but still then you have to bear with intermittent disconnection some time at different days.

so please check your fiber cable dBM reading & share. this is very critical. most ppl only care about UL & DL speed. this is too layman. but they failed to overlook other factors i stated. which eventually affect their internet experiences within their 2 year term contract.

because of this very reason. this is why mobile internet still on demand till today.

Dlink DIR-615

At the Internet Setup. There is a Manual Internet Connection Setup. Under PPPoE where your Username lowyat@unifi & password. But the password shown is **********.

the thing about DIR-615 the wifi signal is not stable. Although can get 100% signal from desktop. however there are notable flaps in percentage. was thinking of changing a much better residential gateway. which gives a better distance coverage. but sad to say the existing 2 antenna cannot be upgraded. what a bummer.

however with the current fw ver is 7.12. the latest routerpassview unable to extract anything from the config file. is there a way to extract the user password for internet? instead of calling tm. where they not helpful in this. but to force you to stick with this kinda shiitty DIR-615 residential gateway.

i am using Dlink DWA-547 rangebooster antenna with 3 x 8dBM Omni-Directional Antenna. at least more stable signal reception. but flap seem from tm DIR-615.

any better residential gateway which gives stable wifi. kindly asist thanks.

YES 4G COVERAGE ISSUE AT WANGSA MAJU SEK 2

Hi All, I need your help. I subscribed to YES at Lot 10. When I check the coverage area with the support staffs. The area at Wangsa Maju on the map is under coverage.

However when I took back the Zoom. Position it to the window. The signal LED keeps blinking NON stop. On rare occassion it can connect. But I can get 0.2Mbps to 0.5Mbps and it always disconnects. I called Tech Support. The helped me to reset the Zoom. Reconfigure the device again and assist me to move around the Zoom to get the best signal. However it all failed an I am back to square one.

Upon followup with YES on the case 49999215950843 in followup by old case id. I got an email asking me for the location & device. Still there are no followup for days. But anyhow I will call again and chase them.

Since I am using Postpaid plan with contract. If YES claims the area is covered upon verification. But on user end like my case cannot get signal. Kindly advice the appropriate solution on this matter. How to go about the matter. Knowing that I am bound to their contractual terms as highlighted. Thanks all in advance.

Please see the coverage map, the highlight in RED is where I locate the devices.
WM_Sek_2_Yes.jpg -> YES coverage map of my 1st floor apartment

Info sharing on P1 WIMAX coverage map/Tx tower

Info sharing on P1 WIMAX coverage map/Tx tower & locations.

as end user, there are lots of discussion forum to trash P1 WIMAX. but most case is due to slow connecting, high ping, service outage & disconnection. everyone can vent their frustration.. but then again does the authority involve do anything about it? does complaining really help themselves and new comers when all seem hopeless? henceforth i create a discussion on the site coverage locations which eventually help out for those who plan to go ahead. the end users can help by sharing their locations & surrounding area. be to it they have good signal or not. so others in the neighbourhood can consider wisely to make their final judgement. this is very much better than to trash & bash P1 which is somehow leads nowhere. as general reader i see non beneficial. even the lowyat_p1 won't even want to answer. cause they are reading the same stories all while.

Here is my story for starter..............

my area wangsa maju sec 2 at block A3. it was shaded green with WIMAX coverage... however many ppl complain they cannot get signal at all. when check the Tx tower is on top of LHDN building opposite of jaya jusco sec 1. note that desa setapak is on higher ground near lrt station. the wangsa maju sec 2 is much more on higher than desa setapak. hence the signal from Tx tower cannot reach. cause there is another blockade from wangsa metroview condo(s)..i am sharing this tip, for those who staying there planning for P1. good luck on your tryings..

when u contact P1 support they tell u all sort of things especially in relocating your modem around the building. that eventually won't help at all. if u lucky get 1 signal bar on dx modem with intermittent disconnection or download speed less than 100kbps for pro package.

henceforth the info/gps map coverage from P1 is somehow misleading. which leads to complaints.
