Yesterday, I tried the LRT3 for the first time, travelling from Bandar Utama to Glenmarie 2. I can only say that the experience was far from satisfactory.
First, the platform itself was shocking. For a rail infrastructure project that reportedly cost RM16.6 billion, the waiting platform is not even as wide as those on the Sri Petaling LRT Line, which began operating in the last century. Platform was already narrow enough, but what was even more concerning was the complete absence of platform screen doors.
There have already been numerous incidents involving passengers falling onto railway tracks. Yet the relevant authorities still appear to treat this basic safety issue so lightly. This is simply unacceptable.
The station structure and platform ventilation were also poor. The platform was unusually hot and stuffy, with passengers relying on just a few miserable pathetic little fans for ventilation.
It makes me wonder: where exactly did the RM16.6 billion go, and why are such basic facilities and standards still missing?
I am not expect the LRT3 to be as refined or luxurious as Singapore’s Thomson–East Coast MRT Line. After all, Singapore has far greater financial resources. However, when such a large amount of public money has been spent, yet essential infrastructure and basic passenger facilities are nowhere to be seen, taxpayers have every right to ask:

The footage also showed two of the men sitting on the bench while the third stood nearby, seemingly discussing their next move.

After remaining beside the body for several minutes, they left the scene, leaving the victim lying in front of the stone bench.

A resident told China Press that the park was a popular gathering spot for foreign workers, where they sometimes become intoxicated and get into fights.

He believes this may have led to a dispute and subsequent demise of the victim, who suffered several stab wounds to his abdomen.

He said another resident who came across the victim initially thought he had blacked out due to intoxication, but was shocked to realise he was actually dead.

Using TikTok as their stage, they speak confidently in Mandarin about weighty issues concerning Singapore and Malaysia, from the economy to geopolitics and foreign relations.

But many of these “presenters” are not what they seem.

A CNA investigation of 30 such TikTok accounts found a factory-like system behind over 550 videos. Nearly all (98 per cent) were assembled by taking AI-generated, manipulated or copied female personas, and stitching them together with reused voices and recycled scripts. Nearly nine in 10 videos pushed false or misleading claims about Singapore and Malaysia, drawing more than 3 million views in total.

Between October 2025 and June 2026, they repeatedly advanced a worldview where Singapore’s fortunes were dictated by China. The narratives blended fact, distortion and outright invention: The most outlandish one claimed that Singapore’s foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan had unsuccessfully begged China and Indonesia not to let a new shipping route bypass Singapore’s port. No such thing happened.

As part of its investigation, CNA sent questions and shared examples of two accounts to TikTok. A few days later, both accounts were terminated.

A spokesperson for the platform said the accounts had broken rules on “deceptive behaviour”. She added that TikTok constantly monitors for and removes accounts trying to “manipulate our systems or our community in order to influence public debate”.

According to TikTok, the range of deceptive behaviour includes covert influence operations, impersonation, spam and fake reviews.

FACT AS BAIT
Unlike overtly hostile information campaigns, these TikTok videos at first glance portrayed a facade of normal, even harmless financial or geopolitical commentary.

This was in part due to the videos’ creators’ decision to use genuine news as hooks for baseless claims. One alleged that Singapore’s port dominance was about to “collapse” now that China’s Hainan Free Trade Port had become fully operational in December. Another seized on an unrelated event, ExxonMobil’s Singapore plant closure, as supposed proof of Singapore’s decline.

In fact, Singapore’s port handled a record of 44.66 million containers in 2025, and has ranked as the world’s second-busiest leading container port for the last 15 years. A previous CNA investigation in February found similar narratives being pushed on YouTube, suggesting such operations are not confined to one platform.

Experts told CNA they have observed similar ongoing campaigns on other social media platforms, pushing the same underlying content.

In CNA’s TikTok investigation, another set of videos used the same tactic – of trying to blur the line between truth and falsehood – by leaning on how Singapore has been China’s largest foreign investor since 2013. This real statistic served, however, as the foundation for subsequently arguing that Singapore had prospered by aligning itself with China’s rise, and for implying that other countries should do the same.

But Singapore is not the only target of the disinformation campaign.

Where the Singapore-focused claims cast China as a patron, the Malaysia ones took on a more contentious framing, with several blaming the country’s allegedly slower development on policies that sidelined its ethnic Chinese population.

The goal appears to be to erode trust and fracture social cohesion, said Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed from Nanyang Technological University (NTU)’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.

“Any audience that grows to distrust its own government's narrative is more susceptible to external influence over time,” he added.

The experts also suggested that beyond domestic Singapore and Malaysia audiences, the global Mandarin-speaking diaspora could be a target. There is strategic value, for instance, in attempting to shape how investors might perceive the stability and political orientation of the two countries, said Assoc Prof Saifuddin.

Photos of the phone were exposed in a data leak from Tata Electronics, one of the tech company’s manufacturing partners.

Per a report from Reuters, a sensitive list of components and suppliers, as well as photos, were posted on the dark web by World Leaks, a ransomware group.

The hackers took data from Tata and uploaded documents on June 12, posting more than 200,000 files totaling over 630 gigabytes. World Leaks has since taken responsibility for the breach.

As of now, the iPhone 18 is set to hit the market in September 2026. Tata, which supplies parts and assembles iPhones as a contract manufacturer, has been a pivotal part of the company in recent years.

Despite maintaining intense security on its inner workings, Apple is no stranger to the occasional leak. Historically, the company has faced major cybersecurity breaches, with hackers seeking to steal unreleased product designs to sell for a high profit.

In 2021, REvil ransomware group hacked Quanta Computer, a Taiwan-based manufacturer that builds MacBooks for Apple. Quanta refused to pay a $50 million ransom, so hackers leaked detailed engineering schematics of the then-unreleased M1 MacBook Pro models onto the dark web.

However, hacks have also enabled Apple to identify weak points in its software and the company in order to prevent further mishaps, such as the 2014 iCloud Celebrity Hack.

How did the data breach unfold?
Paolo Pescatore, founder and analyst at the technology research and advisory firm PP Foresight, told Al Jazeera that the leak could signal a much larger data breach than just a few images of the iPhone 18 Pro.

“The bigger issue is the exposure of sensitive supplier and component information that Apple would never willingly put in the public domain,” he said. “It potentially gives rivals, suppliers, counterfeiters and bad actors a rare glimpse into how Apple’s supply chain is structured and where it may be exposed.”

He added: “A breach of this nature is not usually a smash-and-grab exercise.”

The analyst told the outlet he believes that, based on the quality and quantity of data, the hackers had a foothold inside the organization, compromised credentials, or weakened access controls to move across internal systems undetected.

The data-extortion group isn’t new to the dark web. According to Al Jazeera, World Leaks stole 1.3 terabytes of data from Dell in July 2025. In January, the ransomware group went after Nike, claiming to have stolen 1.4 terabytes of company data.

The leak doesn’t seem to have impacted the fairly new relationship between Apple and Tata. While the the manufacturer only recently launched its iPhone assembly operations in 2023, it has since expanded rapidly.

According to Al Jazeera, India assembled about one in four iPhones in the world in 2025, a massive increase from four years ago when India assembled only about 6 percent of iPhones. Apple continues to manufacture in multiple places around the world. However, in recent months, it has shifted away from China due to rising geopolitical tensions.

The New Straits Times cited Najib as saying that the government had the legal right to withdraw the licence and would not compensate Ascot Sports, which was acquired last month by Berjaya Corp from its major shareholder -- tycoon Vincent Tan.
Tan also controls Berjaya Corp as well as Berjaya Sports Toto , one of three number forecast operators in the country where Islamic moral police squads routinely patrol gambling outlets to arrest Malay Muslims.
Berjaya was not immediately available for comment.
Shares in both Berjaya and Berjaya Sports Toto tumbled 3.4 percent on Friday before the announcement.

According to the bureau, the average daily number of ride-hailing orders completed per vehicle was about 13 in April.

Meanwhile, the price per kilometre offered by ride-sharing platforms also kept decreasing. In some cities outside the rush hour, the price per kilometre can be less than one yuan (US$0.15).

Shenzhen ride-sharing drivers reportedly earned about 300 yuan (US$45) working 12 hours a day, after deducting the costs like car rental fees, charging fees and insurance.

According to a 2025 report by the Research Centre for New Employment Forms in China, the average age of ride-hailing drivers in 13 Chinese provinces is about 40, and 60 per cent of them are the only breadwinner of their family.

Under the increasing pressure, some racked their brains to boost the customer experience.

A driver in Harbin, northeastern China’s Heilongjiang province, sold the fuse beads pixel art his daughter made. In one order, the platform charged 10 yuan (US$1.5) for the trip, but sold the pixel art for 93 yuan (US$14).

Another driver in southwestern China’s Sichuan province sold handmade accessories made by his jobless wife. He treated his car as a “mobile stall” and said the sales were even higher than running a real stall.

A driver in Shanghai hung jade products everywhere in his car, making it look so resplendent that a passenger thought they had got into the wrong car.

The driver explained that he was originally a jewellery shop owner and ride-sharing was his part-time job.

Some escalated the in-car experience.

One ride-sharing driver put a karaoke machine and a disco ball in the back seat. Passengers could simply sing songs by scanning the QR code.

The karaoke machine also had a rating system. If the passenger got 95 or above, he would give them a drink as a prize.

One passenger reportedly planned to ride 3km, and changed their destination to a place further away after discovering the karaoke and even picked up two friends on the way.

Another opened a cafe in his car, offering americano and latte made “on site”, priced between 22 and 29 yuan.

Some drivers also installed massage mats on the seats, offering an initial two-minute free massage, to induce the passengers to pay for longer service.

The downside is that the passenger cannot choose to not enjoy the free massage. One person who had been diagnosed rib bone fracture hailed one such car, and said he went through a “torture” by the massage mat.

In another case, a taxi driver in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, offered a cheap haircut service priced at only 8 yuan (US$1.2). He would do haircuts while waiting for passengers.

These extra services have been seen as a part of the neijuan game that trapped ride-sharing drivers.

Just one week before shutting down our Facebook page, certain parties circulated fake news about Coverage Media. Among the false claims:

They alleged that this portal belongs to MCA.
They attempted to carry out character assassination against Shen Yee Aun, claiming he is linked to MCA.
Just because of a few articles critical towards PKR and DAP, they falsely alleged that Coverage Media is trying to ask people to support BN or PN.
For the record:

Coverage Media has no connection whatsoever with MCA.
Shen Yee Aun was never a member of MCA.
He only served under Tan Sri Chua Soi Lek during his tenure as MCA President from 2012 to 2014.
Since Tan Sri Chua Soi Lek’s retirement, both have not been actively involved in politics for the past 12 years.
They even tried to drag in Tan Sri Vincent Lee, who has absolutely nothing to do with Coverage Media.
Shen Yee Aun and Tan Sri Vincent Lee have not been in contact since 2018.
The company associated with them has been dormant since 2020 and has conducted no sales, monetization, or any commercial activities since 2018.
Coverage Media was only founded in 2016 — two years after both Shen Yee Aun and Tan Sri Chua Soi Lek had already stopped serving in MCA.
Linking Coverage Media to MCA is a complete insult to our independent voice and hard work.
Under its current leadership, MCA is clearly incapable of owning or managing any media platform that can generate such strong public buzz, influence, and monthly hits of 16–20 million page views. This old dinosaur political party is already past its time and heading toward extinction.

Her old article attacking both Shen Yee Aun and Coverage Media is nothing more than another hit piece aimed at covering up their own flaws and shortcomings.
This is the same DAP leader who previously opposed political appointments in GLCs, but is now happily accepting the position of TalentCorp Chairman.
According to DAP’s Rayer, the salary for such a political appointment ranges between RM 90,000 and RM 120,000 per month, excluding her MP salary and allowances.
We suspect this block was triggered because certain DAP leaders are highly sensitive to criticism. Last year, NVIDIA announced the RTX 5090 D alongside the standard RTX 5090. The RTX 5090 D was made exclusively for China, but soon after its launch, the graphics card was banned from sale in China following updated US regulations. Soon after the ban, NVIDIA launched a second variant with even more cut-down specifications than the RTX 5090 D, called the RTX 5090 D v2.

The biggest difference was the reduced 24 GB VRAM versus the 32 GB on the original card, & a narrower memory bus. This meant that those who wanted to repurpose the card for AI using its 32 GB frame buffer were out of luck. Reports currently suggest that a lot of AI firms are retrofitting custom RTX 5090 D v2 with double the VRAM, up to 48 GB.

But the more concerning news regarding the NVIDIA RTX 5090 D v2 comes from HKEPC, who report that market sources have suggested that China is moving to ban the gaming flagship entirely. It is said that Chinese motherboard manufacturers recently received a notification from customs authorities that the RTX 5090 D v2 will not be approved for processing, and retailers who are importing it will not get a clearance or sales permit.

Market rumors suggest that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 D v2 has been banned from the Chinese market, but this time it's not the US that's banning it, but China. According to Chinese motherboard manufacturers, they recently received a notification from Chinese customs that the GeForce RTX 5090 D v2 graphics cards will not be approved for processing and therefore cannot enter China. As Liu was perched on the edge of the platform, she was heard yelling “not tied tightly” multiple times. However, a worker still pushed her out.

About two seconds later, a safety button above her head was released and the girl plunged down the cliff.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Maliuyan Expedition Park said on social media that it was closed from May 4 to 10 due to “force majeure”. The park said it was carrying out safety examinations on its equipment to guarantee the safety of tourists.
