Do countries lose sky-daddy as they gain wealth?

i knew it. that's why aryan push everyone to believe in various sky-daddy.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/do-countries-...ealth-1.1310451

Poor nations have the highest proportion of people who identify as religious

The world's poorest nations are also some of its most religious – but does that mean religion can't flourish in a prosperous society?
God's country
Teresa Chirwa is head of news at the Zodiak radio station in Malawi.

Malawi is one of the most religious nations in the world, according to a 2009 Gallup poll that found 99 per cent of the population considers religion an important part of daily life. It is also one of the poorest, with an annual per capita income of $870 US (at purchasing power parity).

"When you are in Malawi and someone asks you, 'Where do you go to church?' and you say you don't pray, it's an awkward thing, like you're a weird person," says Teresa Chirwa, a journalist from Malawi who is spending an academic year at the University of Toronto.

The majority of Malawians belong to one of several Christian denominations (including Roman Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian and the African Independent Churches), while another 15 to 20 per cent are Muslim. Much of the population also practices traditional African religions.

In recent years, new Pentecostal churches have begun to take hold, and the younger generation has started making its own choices about which churches to attend — rather than following their parents' beliefs, said Chirwa.

"Kids are revolting," she said. "They are leaving the traditional churches and going to the new churches that are emerging."

The country now also has its first atheist organization, although so far, except for its leader, the names of all its members remain secret.

"They're being ridiculed by the society," said Chirwa. "They're being discriminated against for those beliefs."

Gregory Paul doesn't think it can. After constructing a "Successful Societies Scale" that compared 25 socioeconomic indicators against statistics on religious belief and practice in 17 developed nations, the Baltimore-based paleontologist concluded in a 2009 study that "religion is most able to thrive in seriously dysfunctional societies."

Paul, who is a freelance researcher not affiliated with any institution, compiled data on everything from homicide rates and income inequality to infant mortality and teenage pregnancies and found that the societies that scored the best on socioeconomic indicators were also the most secular.

"The correlation between religiosity and successful societies is somewhere around 0.7. Zero is no correlation and one is a perfect correlation, so it's a really good correlation, and it's not just an accident," he told CBC News.

"There's no situation where you have a really highly religious nation that's highly successful socially."

Paul's intention in creating the scale was to challenge the idea that religion is universal and innate to the human condition, and to show that societies that don't believe in God are not doomed, as some religious conservatives would have people believe.

"Religion is highly variable, and therefore we need to ask why is it sometimes popular and why it isn't," Paul said. "One thing we do know is that it's only popular in societies that … have enough rate of dysfunction that people are anxious about their daily lives, so they're looking to the gods for help in their daily lives.

"It's not fear of death that drives people to be religious, and it's not a God gene or a God module in the brain or some sort of connection with the gods; it's basically a psychological coping mechanism."
Religion on decline in West

Belief in God and participation in religious services have been on the decline in recent decades in most First World nations but have remained high in developing countries. Between 1947 and 2001, belief in God declined by 33.6 per cent in Sweden, 19.9 per cent in Australia and 7.2 per cent in Canada, according to an analysis of social science surveys done by Harvard sociologist Pippa Norris and University of Michigan political scientist Ronald Inglehart.

Data for developing countries does not go back as far, but recent opinion polls suggest religiosity has remained high. The 10 most religious countries on the 2012 WIN-Gallup International Religiosity and Atheism Index all had 85 per cent or more of respondents identifying as "a religious person," and all were countries with a per capita income of less than $14,100 US.

boleh buat power plant tepi port dickson guna teknologi ini?

mana MP utk port dickson? tolong cadangkan

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20200718...ed-by-the-ocean

The Philippines’ traditional three-hulled boat is being redesigned, to draw its power not from fossil fuels, but from the energy of the waves.
W

We were standing in the pouring rain at Sabang Port, waiting for our turn to board a bangka (a traditional Filipino boat) that would take us to the entrance of the Puerto Princesa Underground River, which runs beneath a cave in Palawan, an island province on the western part of the Philippines. At last our bangka arrived, a trimaran with bamboo outriggers either side of its main hull.

The trimaran is a common sight on Philippine waters. The country pioneered this design in its early warships, then adopted it for its traditional sailboats and fishing boats. As an island nation, the Philippines relies on watercraft – boats, ferries and cargo ships – to transport people and goods across its more than 7,000 islands. But its fleet of cargo and passenger ships are one of the biggest contributors to the country’s greenhouse gas emissions. In 2012, transportation accounted for the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the country’s energy sector, after heating and electricity.

Globally, 9% of all transport emissions came from international and coastal shipping in 2010. That’s a small figure next to the 72% that came from road transport, but it puts shipping on a similar level to aviation, which made up 10.6% of transport emissions. And with the volume of world sea trade projected to grow at a rate of 3.8% a year to 2023, emissions from the shipping industry are likely to increase too, unless the growth in sea traffic can be uncoupled from emissions.
The traditional bangka is an iconic part of life in the Philippines, evolving from its early role as a warship (Credit: Getty Images)

The traditional bangka is an iconic part of life in the Philippines, evolving from its early role as a warship (Credit: Getty Images)

A new design of ship in the Philippines is hoping to pose a low-carbon alternative to the country’s usual bangka, by working with the power of waves rather than against them. The ship is a hybrid model, using multiple internal combustion engines for initial propulsion but switching to wave energy while cruising in open waters.

Sea power

This seacraft is the brainchild of Jonathan Salvador – a marine engineer and owner of shipbuilding company Metallica Marine Consultancy, Fabrication and Services – who was inspired by the conventional bangka’s design.

The outrigger constantly reacts to the upward and downward movement of the wave. What if we can convert this reaction into electrical energy? – Jonathan Salvador

“The outrigger’s job is to provide stability so the bangka doesn’t tip sideways,” Salvador says. “But I also noticed that each time a wave hits the outrigger, the outrigger constantly reacts to the upward and downward movement of the wave. What if we can convert this reaction – this kinetic energy – into electrical energy?”

The most powerful renewable energy
The young people fighting Europe’s worst smog
The spies catching fish pirates on the high seas

The way wave energy works will be familiar to anyone who has waded in sea waters. At times, the waves are strong enough to push you back to shore or tall enough to push you over. “Waves have a lot of momentum, and it’s that momentum you feel when you’re out in the water,” says Bryony DuPont, professor of mechanical engineering at Oregon State University. “Wave energy uses that momentum, sometimes as-is and you just need the motion of the waves, and sometimes we capture that momentum and force it through machinery that generates electricity.”

The hybrid trimaran has this machinery – a wave energy converter – in the form of hydraulic pumps integrated into its outriggers. As the pumps move through the waves, they harvest the momentum of these waves, converting their kinetic energy into electrical energy, which will then be fed into a generator that will supply electricity to the ship. The electricity then provides propulsion via a motor. The more waves the trimaran encounters, the more power it can produce from those waves.

Construction of the hybrid trimaran started in 2018 and was set for completion by early 2020, in a collaborative effort between the Metallica shipbuilding company and the Aklan State University. But a typhoon in 2019 delayed the project and community quarantines enforced this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a skeletal workforce at best and brought the project to a standstill at worst. Despite these difficulties, the team is aiming to finish building the ship by the end of 2020, with a three-month sea trial scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. The vessel is expected to be capable of carring 100 passengers, four vans and 15 motorcycles.

ini mesti kat new delhi aryan. oh waiiit. betul aryan tapi wrong country. kesian the lady. tak sangka even kat parliament tak selamat.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/au...-assault-charge

Tory MP arrested on suspicion of rape of parliamentary staffer

A former Conservative minister has been arrested after a woman accused him of rape, sexual assault and coercive control, it was reported last night.

The Metropolitan police confirmed they had launched an investigation into four alleged incidents between July 2019 and January 2020 at different locations in London. They said “a man in his 50s” was taken into custody early yesterday and was still in a police station in east London last night.

He faces allegations from a woman who reportedly worked on the parliamentary estate that he abused her on several occasions. She alleges that the MP assaulted her, forced her to have sex, and left her so traumatised that she had to go to hospital, according to the claim.

In a statement, Scotland Yard said: “On Friday 31 July, the Metropolitan Police Service received allegations relating to four separate incidents involving allegations of sexual offences and assault. These offences are alleged to have occurred at addresses in Westminster, Lambeth and Hackney between July 2019 and January 2020.

“A man was arrested on 1 August on suspicion of rape.” The Met said it was not making any statement about the man’s occupation.

The Sunday Times reported that a fellow Conservative MP first raised the woman’s allegation with Mark Spencer, the Tory chief whip, and Jacob Rees-Mogg, the leader of the House of Commons, after speaking to the alleged victim a month ago. The Press Association said that Spencer had advised her to make a formal complaint.

A spokesman for Spencer said: “The chief whip takes all allegations of harassment and abuse extremely seriously and has strongly encouraged anybody who has approached him to contact the appropriate authorities, including parliament’s independent complaints and grievance scheme.”

The Conservative party said: “We take all allegations of this nature extremely seriously. As this matter is in the hands of the police, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-kent-53515005

Ex-MP guilty of sexual assaults

Elphicke's trial heard he had lunged at a woman, aged in her 30s, at his London home in 2007 on the first night his wife was away after the birth of their son.

He forced his victim on to a sofa and groped her breast while trying to kiss her, before chasing her and chanting "I'm a naughty Tory".

Dengar cerita dia orang ketawakan kebuduan pemimpin kita.

Party time untuk angmoh dan kawan kawan helang mereka.

https://nypost.com/2020/07/27/david-solomon...settlement/amp/

David Solomon DJs in the Hamptons after reaching $3.9B 1MDB settlement

Goldman Sachs chief executive David Solomon let his musical alter ego rip over the weekend after finally settling long-running fraud claims against his firm for $3.9 billion.

Solomon dropped his beats for a field of well-heeled Hamptonites in Water Mill, NY, on Saturday, where his electronic dance music persona, DJ D-Sol, performed for a drive-in charity concert headlined by The Chainsmokers.

According to one person who attended the show, the 58-year-old DJ D-Sol took the stage for “a pretty long set” and treated concertgoers like the Winkelvoss twins to his new single, “Someone Like You” — an upbeat dance track featuring Polish electropop star Gia Koka.

For Solomon, the event was a chance to blow off steam after Friday’s announcement that Goldman Sachs had finally settled with the Malaysian government over charges stemming from the firm’s role in the 1MDB scandal. Malaysian officials charged that Goldman helped raise billions for the fund that were looted by officials like now-fugitive financier Jho Low, and spent on yachts, parties as well as gifts to Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio and model Miranda Kerr.
