LAN connection not working

cgoh83 — Tue, 02 Aug 2016 14:25:53 +0800

Hi Guys,

I am facing this problem:

Fiber terminates at the entrance of my unit, where I have built a mirror cabinet. The developer had built a LAN connection just beside the fiber point that connects to my living room. However, no matter what I do router would not detect internet service if I was to connect to the LAN port in my living room (modem connected to the LAN port as well). Developer had double checked and confirmed that the LAN port is working, they tested every single wire.

Yes, I can place a router beside the modem, but because it is a mirror cabinet, signal is severely impacted (60+mbps if cabinet door is open, dropped to <10mpbs once door is closed, using a repeater also doesn't solve the problem).

I was wondering if any expert here have faced similar issue before and what to do to troubleshoot?

Also, what router would be the best to overcome the issue I have, assuming that I cannot use the LAN port and have to place the router inside the cabinet. Since it is at the entrance, it would need to cover around 2,000sqf.

Thanking you guys in advance.

Regards,

Sometimes I'm just amazed that what people are willing to go through just to scam a small amount of money. They will probably earn more putting that effort into doing legit stuff.
