Alfa Romeo MiTo or Fiat 500 or VW Golf TSI

Hi there,

As the title suggested, I'm looking for a brand new car that costs less than 160k.

I've always wanted a VW because of the performance, plus the attractive warranty package that is being offered. I've test-driven Polo 1.2 TSI and Golf 1.4 TSI, and I really like the Golf more. But... it only comes in DSG. DSG is good, but I'm looking for a manual-transmission car. More fun, more interaction.

Hence, Alfa Romeo MiTo and Fiat 500 come to mind. I haven't test-driven either car, but I really like the styling of both cars. I know, some people would say that both are ugly. At first, I was like that too, but it kind of grow on me. I saw a white Fiat 500 (Abarth version I think) just now, and WOW! It's a breath of fresh air. Alfa Romeo MiTo isn't too shabby either. Both are not as quick as Golf, but funner to drive (according to reviews).

My heart says MiTo, but people claim/say it's expensive to maintain. And that is a big concern. I don't mind splashing a bit more to maintain/repair, but how much more expensive I'm looking at?

I would really love to hear opinions/suggestions/etc or recommendations about other choices. But my preferences are manual-transmission (not paddle-shift), and continental cars.

Thank you.
