Wonder how many of you are playing with a raspberry.

Hi all,
I run game servers and other sorts of servers all the time. So I needed a Virtual Box image to quickly deploy the bare minimum linux server headless. Something we need often. I am going to maintain virtual box images of small linux servers from here on now. They can be downloaded here , for now just one VM.

Please read the details on the site itself. Although my intention was specifically for game servers (and I will be posting those) I think the image is good enough for almost any sort of server. Its only about 150MB download and 540MB when setup as Virtual box. So you're looking at 2GB Disk VM ready to go. Please use Virtual Box 4.3 and later

With this base image you can add packages to build
- Web server
- Game server
- FTP server
- Seed Box
- just about anything

My next release is a css server with control panel. I need a couple of off days to get to it.

I was taken by the marketing back in 2011.
Signed up for the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 M1 Plan 2 years ago.
paid S$450 (approx) or so down plus 2 years contract at S$79/ month for the so called 7.2 Mbps unlimited broadband. It never worked. It would stall very often. Like you click a YT video and the page wont completely load. Videos never started. Emails never finished syncing. Hook it [tablet] up to wifi and its all good. I gave up and stopped using the tablet as well, except for reading ebooks synced from pc, I dont so that often. All I wanted was to use the commute time for surfing, checking emails and reading/watching news.

Occasionally , every few months, I would pick it up and give it a try. Nothing changed. "Sometimes" it showed hope. 2 years have gone by and to this day in the evenings if I tried to use my tablet to catch video on YT, or download an app.... it would never happen. I would reach home an hour later staring at a blank screen, with no audio, just the weight of it getting heavier all the time. The best i could do is read Gmail if i clicked Sync several times (the email must be text, no pictures pls)

Finally contract over, called in to cancel the friggin thing.

So I ended up paying over S$2200 for a tablet that did nothing for me. Expensive lesson.

p.s. the sales guy also sold me a contract for mobile for a samsung ace (2 years), since I had no idea about android I thought it was ok at quick glance. It is the crappiest phone ever with barely any memory to add apps and battery dies within 15 mins of online usage or 30 minutes of calls. I have had to live with it for 2 years as well. I am keeping the phone as a lesson. I will not re-contract but I wont cancel (yet).

Always Action Planetside 2 SG/My Outfit

I am recruiting for Planestide2 Outfit BrutForce which is mainly NC though some of us also play VS.
Presence is in AU Briggs server

Unlike other outfits we play for action. It can be anything from jumping into Instant action to organizing suicide raids.
At all times the goal is to attack/defend.... kill or be killed. None of that driving around and capping points for 10 mins with no action.

BrutForce is going to be the Navy Seal style strike force outfit.

We are here to have fun. Not to idle around waiting for squad waypoint to next isolated cap. Screw all that. lets kill something.

Hosting Servers for Lowyat community

Hi all,
Some of you may know me from CSS servers, most not. This is Vangel|Bully who has hosted servers since several years ago (2005-2008) for free. Then I had to move around a lot and lost most of bandwidth (personal) to work on any game servers let alone modded ones like I used to run.

So now I have been mostly ok with hosting servers in the past 2.5 years again. However I can't host all of them. I can host any game server provided we have enough players.
If you'd like to post a recommendation for game I have not listed let me know how many of you play and how often. I will host em in priority.

Here's my list in no order

Killing Floor (has RPG mod with custom weapons and maps)
left 4 dead 2 (has with mods can do 20 player servers)
CS (again any mod)
CS:Source (any mods, I have done lots)
CS:GO (any variation)
TF2
ARMA 2 (with DayZ Mod)

I am also playing Planetside 2 and BF3 at the moment.
