Altis and iPod user

Got my Altis a month ago and missed my iPod and the music compilation on the move.

Obviously, the factory-fitted HU does not support iPod and has no AUX.

What options do I have without affecting the car's warranty?

I have seen a Caska HU. Looks good on paper but I am inclined to go with a Japanese brand but the warranty issue is constantly bugging me. DVD playback and GPS are not important.

Would appreciate feedback from other Altis owners with a similar predicament and ICE enthusiasts.

Cheers.

Guilin

Planning to visit Guilin in the coming months, thanks to Air Asia.

Popular tour operators, unfortunately, only offer group and fixed date departures, and obviously would not appeal FIT travelers.

I would appreciate recommendations of local tour operators offering FIT/customised packages and will accept bookings even for 2 pax just like free and easy packages to popular places like Bangkok and Bali.

Thank you.

Logitech Universal Remote

Just got a Logitech 525 remote which works perfectly well for all the devices - TV, DVD player, AV receiver, iPod and even the room's air-conditioner. It also works on iPod's Cover Flow, navigating from one album to another. And it's one remote instead of five.

The only snag, if I can call one, is the multi-page menu on the remote's screen. You need to flip one menu after another to look for the off button which is indeed troublesome for the AV receiver. No problem looking for the TV's off button.

On the whole, still a good investment for an all-in-one remote.

Are Malaysians paying too much for netbooks?

I am currently in Bangkok and obviously visiting the Thai capital is far from complete without a "stopover" at Pantip Plaza.

The Thai PC market is fasting catching up with the Malaysian market. As a matter of fact, the Thais (and the foreigners) are spoilt for choice. Malaysia still has a slight edge with our tax-free notebooks but the case is far from the truth when it comes to the netbooks.

The Acer Aspire One is going for only 9,900 Baht (about RM1,000) for the Linux-powered machine with 512MB Ram and 8GB SSD. The Windows XP unit (1GB Ram and 120GB hdisk) is 16,600 Baht. For tourists, they can claim the 7% VAT which certainly make the KL pricing overpriced - RM1,149 for Linux Aspire One and RM1,699 for the Windows unit.
