Just wondering

I am just wondering why when new mall opening, the walk way will be very spacious. But over a period of time, those walk ways will be filled by carts or small "island of shops".

I am wondering whether they submit the plan for goverment agencies approval and then suddenly change when their mall are given permit to operate. Is this legal? What will happen to customer incase of emergency, such as fire etc ? Some malls are so pack that in case of emergency, i am very sure there will be stampede.

Discuss.

Put that in your paper.

“I presided over everything. I told them, please give to my son and not to anybody else. That’s what I have been doing all the time.

“When I was the prime minister, everything was given to my children.

“But when everything goes to the children of the other prime ministers, you don’t want to mention because he is a nice man.

“He enables you to read, doesn't he?” Mahathir said in reply.

Malaysia is one the best education hub

http://www.dailychilli.com/happenings/1915...-harry-revealed

Malaysia's Prince William & Prince Harry revealed!

Chalk and cheese, they are. So who's what in our own royal families?

BY OLIVIA LEE

Prince William and Prince Harry, celebrities of the new Britannia Empire, seem like they could be one of us in a lot of ways—apart from the trappings of the royal family. They're sensible (William), they're cheeky (Harry), they date "regular people" (William) and they get into trouble (Harry). So which Malaysian prince is our own Will & Hal? Here are your options:

The Philanthropist: Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, 21

Cute.

All right, he's a young lad. But keep in mind, William began dating Kate Middleton when he was 21, too. Tengku Amir Shah was born on 12th December 1990 in the US, the youngest child and only son of the Sultan of Selangor Sharafuddin Idris Shah and his wife Nur Lisa Idris Abdullah nee Lisa Davis.

His mother was, you could say, a bit like Kate considering she didn't come from royalty. After her son was proclaimed Crown Prince of Selangor on 3rd May 2002 when he was just 11, he became a student at Wellington College in the UK and grew into quite a philanthropist.

He's patron of the Raja Muda Selangor Foundation and Selangor Cheshire Home, a centre that provides residential care to the permanently disabled, including those with poliomyelitis, rheumatoid arthritis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy and brittle bone disease. Tengku Amir recently climbed Mount Kinabalu with 23 children from the home, too.

He once said: "We should never deprive the children from the chance to excel in their lives. I believe that every person should be given equal opportunity to rise to their fullest potential and our responsibility is to help turn their aspirations into reality." No wonder he's been dubbed Prince Caring and says he hopes to one day be a patron of America's Make A Wish Foundation.

The Manly: Raja Muda Johor Tunku Ismail Idris Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, 28

Macho.

He loves polo and football, he's apparently dating Gol & Gincu actress Nur Fazura, and he's probably one of the most talked-about princes in the royal circle—which isn't always a good thing as Harry will tell you.

In 2008, he was involved in a RM50mil legal quarrel with Tunku Nadzimuddin Tunku Mudzaffar, the grandson of the late Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, who claimed that Tunku Ismail hit him on the head and in the face with a firearm. The case was eventually settled out of court.

Tunku Ismail was born on 30th June 1984, the eldest son of Sultan Ibrahim Ismail and Sultanah Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah. He went to school at SRK St Joseph in Johor Baru, then the Australian International School in Singapore, and then to Western Australia's Hale School.

He was 19 when he enrolled as a cadet officer at the Indian Military Academy, India's premier military training school in Dehradun, following a family tradition in the armed forces—his granddad was in the army and his dad in the US Army.

At 20, he was commissioned as lieutenant and made captain three years later. Tunku Ismail is the first foreigner to lead a unit of the Indian Army in the Indian Republic Day Parade. On 28th January 2010, then 26-year-old Tunku Ismail was appointed Tengku Mahkota Johor.

The Intellectual: Tunku Zain Al-Abidin Tuanku Muhriz, 29

Clever.

Tunku Abidin is something of a whiz. He's the founder and president of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), a non-partisan think tank. Started in 2006, the libertarian group's mission, he says, is to "speak freely against the governing party and its opponents, to research and conduct public education on the principles of a free society", as once imagined by former PM Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Born on 6th July 1982, he started his education at the Alice Smith School before boarding at Marlborough College in Wiltshire, England. He furthered his studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he obtained an honours degree in Government and Sociology and a master's degree in Comparative Politics and Imperial History.

After graduation, he worked for a Westminster think tank, then as a parliament researcher at the House of Commons before moving to Washington, DC for a public sector consultant post at the World Bank.

He returned to Malaysia in 2008 where he worked for the UN Development Programme and the KRA Group before becoming a research fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.

The music-inclined prince did all these while building IDEAS, writing the newspaper column Abiding Times from 2008 to 2011 and the books Payung Berdaulat Warisan Beradat (2009) and Abiding Times (2011). He now writes for The Star, contributing to the Friday column Roaming Beyond The Fence.

Tunku Abidin is also an adviser to Robotics Learning, a professional institution specialising in educational robotics, and sits on the Board for the charitable organisations Yayasan Munarah, Yayasan Chow Kit, My Future Foundation and PUSAKA. He's a patron of the Penang Symphony Orchestra and is an Honorary Major in the Territorial Army.

The Visionary: Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz, 35

Rich.

The eldest of three, Tunku Ali was born on 26th April 1977 to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and Tuanku Aishah Rohani. Academically, he attended Sri Inai Junior School and Alice Smith School before going to Marlborough College for his GCSE and A-level.

He then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Social & Political Science at Cambridge University. After his graduation in 1998, the next Yang di-Pertuan Besar worked for McKinsey & Company in London and went after career opportunities in Europe and the US before returning to Asia where he worked in Hong Kong, Singapore and now Malaysia.

In 2004, he joined Khazanah Nasional Berhad and currently serves as a director for the investment division of the government's investment holding arm. In 2010, he was appointed trustee of Teach For Malaysia—an independent, non-profit organisation that's enlisting Malaysia's most promising future leaders to end education inequity.

Published: 9th September 2012

Comments (0)

Write comment

Name:
Email:

Title:
Message:

Click on image to reload a new one

Please input the anti-spam code that you can read in the image.
