problem with postgresql

hello everyone,

I'm newbie here. I have a very big problem.

I'm using UBUNTU server and i have installed Postgresql 8.2. I have a script that will do all the data backup and also another script for dump the postgres database.

The thing is since last month, there was a problem with the dump script and since then, no more backup for the dump. And suddenly, my hard disk crash last week. Luckily I have done all the backup as I told you except for the latest dump.

So, I have a big problem here. I just have the postgres folder that contains all the data (I think they are the binary files) but I don't have the dump files. So, I don't know how to restore the database to the new hardisk for the server.

Is there anyone who can help me by giving any idea about restoring postgresql database without having the dump file? I think it is doable. But it's gonna take lot of work and time forsure, am I right?

Thank u very much...
