discharge of charges [without appointed solicitor]

I paid off my mortgage and the bank recently sent me a letter asking me to appoint a solicitor to attend to matters of the discharge of charge on my property title. After checking on google, I understood that this technically is just to remove the charge that the bank had on my property when I owed it money.

My question is, Can i go to pejabat tanah and change the name without appoint a solicitor? What is the procedure of discharges of charge without appointed a lawyer?
