programming: where to start?

hi guys, need a suggestion.

i'm trying to get into programming, but i want to know which language sees the most uses nowadays (or atleast in the job market), so my time invested on this will be well spent.

my short term objectives right now is to develop a simple program like a spellchecker, a calculator, an alarm reminder or a ~~chess~~ tictactoe bot, or anything similar for that fact.

and it'd be good if you can provide me the pros cons, opinion or reason for your suggestion. thanks :/

hi, i sometimes read lyn articles, but i've never posted anything before there ( yes, for years ).
well today i wanted to comment on something there, but i can't find the login box for forum.lowyat.net accounts. ofcourse there are plenty others ( facebook, google+, etc ) but i felt that its a hassle to log in through these other accounts and i just wanna stick to lyn account when posting there.

could it be that i've just missed the login box somewhere in the page? or i really do need to sign in through facebook / g+ account to do so? thanks

often we see intro from cliche inspiring stories about successful men citing things like " saya bukan dari keluarga senang ", "i begin with nothing to begin with" etc

which begs the question, how "poor" are these guys? living under the bridge poor? or only have a small loan of 1 mil usd (huehue trump) poor?

im sure most of us had barely enough to get through the month. get paycheck , pay for essentials, left with peanut for the month. are we considered poor in relation to those who go to kepci stabaks everyday?

hi, im a ( ex-would be ) med student, 22 years old.
after series of discussions with my family, i've decided to drop medicine as i can't picture myself doing it for another 20~30 years in my life. i'm doing average ( CGPA 3++ on all semesters ), though lack of passion and interests are what stopping me.

so, here i am, looking for what path can i take now.

i have my eyes on english and writings since i'm very interested in language studies.
im also keen into economic and finances, although it've been years since i touched any maths subjects ( since foundation i guess , and we don't really do advanced maths in medics). oh and the foundation programme i took is tailored specifically for medicine, so were i to take another major, i'll have to redo a-level ( i don't mind another year spent )

the thing is, im also looking for good job prospects in the future. with medics, the career path are pretty much set in stones. with language, or finance, i have little info on what will i be after graduating, whats the job outlook here in malaysia ( or overseas for that matter ).

and how tough are these 2 compared to medicine? just curious.

so guys, i had unifi 30 installed yesterday, very gooding so far compared to what i used before, 1mbps stimix. ( 1 year worth of prawn in 1 day )

anyway, i had hoped to play on eu server with better pings, but its just the same as when i used 1mbps streamyx... its at 200++
now i don't really know how internet connection between server works, but between 1 and 30mbps, there's gotta be a ping reduction right? or maybe the minimum ping is capped for foreign servers to discourage peruvians and russka getting lost on other servers?

see, my mom inherited 9 acres of land in pahang, rural area ( somewhere near gambang ), 9 acres.
since its definitely not for human to live 1, ( 500m~1km to main road, dirt road only + far from city ), i figured making a house there is kinda stupid, with wild animals as neighbours and all.

my mom lend it to my in-laws `10~ years ago for them to do agriculture ( chillis, veggies ) and didn't even ask for a cents. i'm furious la ofc.
now her contract with tat in-laws done d, 3 years ago i think, and the land is empty again.

what can i do ah with it to generate money? definitely not gonna sell, maybe lease or smthing.

hi, im situated outside from malaysia atm, and the place here doesn't offer as much selection in electronics as in malaysia.

so im looking for trusted n reputable online stores in malaysia where i can order and have the items delivered to my residence in malaysia, and from there my sis will deal with the shipping to the place here.

can anyone point me the right direction? i tried googling, storekini came up first, but upon researching, they havent updated their sites since august, and lots of customers complaining about not receiving their orders yet.

[Help] building a micro/mini tower build

I'll try to keep it it simple.

Had a desktop before, its ded now, managed to salvage:

- 4x 4gb ram sticks ( negligible, better get a new one)
- An i5 3570 (non clockable)
- Gtx 970 ( 2 months, msi)
- 2x 1tb wd hdd (fairly old, 2 years~, no important data, may be used as extra stores)
- Cm 212 evo
- Samsung 21 inch monitor
- Decent keyboard and mouse

Psu is dead, so is mobo and some other unimportant stuff.

Here's my plea, wanna build a micro/mini tower using most of the stuff above ( especially to be able to fit the gtx970). I travel abroad quite frequently, hence the need for smaller desktop.

My fresh budget is around 4k, may stretch to 5k if necessary, but my goal is to build a resilient and decent gaming desktop with least budget, not hitting the budget ceiling

Any sifu can help?

EDIT: scratch that, i think the processor's burnt too. Definitely need a new one now

first of all, i dunno if this topic is legal or not for discussion, so pardon me if it isn't, and kindly remove the thread.

just asking for a friend of mine, he recently obtained a US SIMlocked Iphone 5s. and we would like to know options about unlocking it.

is it easily doable (i.e DIY kinda stuff ), or should we be better off unlocking it at a proper shop?
is there any reputable shop or service provider known for this? would anyone point me the right direction? thanks

*note that i do not own the said Iphone nor i have ever owned any apple product as of yet.

anyway, had flashed my s4 ( i9500 exynos ) with wanamlite 2.0
and while it is cool and all, some apps stopped working.
they crash as soon as it gets to menu

oh and another one, is it true that newer 4.2.2 JB firmware no longer supports xbox 360 controller? tried on mine before, didn't work, dug around the net and found a number of similar case of mine, which all happens on 4.2.2 but not on lower version firmware.

Desktop suddenly powers off

hi, gotta problem here.

got my desktop built around 1 and a half year ago.
been using it ever since, and satisfied, atleast until a couple weeks ago.

my computer now suddenly powers off, without any warning, while in full load.
this especially happens when i'm playing games full screen or sometimes even watching movies in fs may causes this.
the computer just went off, but the mobo LED still lights up. and i won't be able to turn it on unless i turn off the switch, wait for a few minutes, and turn the switch back on again.

monitored cpu and gpu temps, cpu never got off above 35/60~ gpu never above 40/63~ in idle/full. so i doubt temp is the issue here.

i clean dust around once per month, but i don't think dust can cause power failure in the first place

anyway, i've been installing 2x additional fan + 1TB wd black about a month ago, so maybe my psu isn't strong enough? or its just dead that i have to replace it with a new one?
and im a total noob for calculating total power required, with all the 12v rail stuff

i5 2500k ( stock freq )
p8z68-v pro
hd7950 3gb ( sapphire )
CM 212 evo
2x WD black 1TB
2x additional CM ball bearing fan ( forgot which model )
CM GX 650W bronze

now poorfag, don't have moneh to buy mic for my pc.

question,
how to turn my tab 2 as microphone for pc?
i have 3.5mm output - output cable
so far i can transmit sound from tab to pc, and vice versa
like streaming radio to pc's speaker.

but still can't find record function or similar for this tablet..

someone gave me some squids. but not the typical calamari you would find in malaysia.
its a....i dunno what species but its 2~3x larger than your normal squid.

back in malaysia, i know tat u just need to separate the head from its tube , remove ink sac, remove backbone, remove egg if necessary.
but this 1 is very weird. the tube had 2 orange vein connecting the head. and i cant identify the ink sac. help!

ps, im in europe so this squid is probably from the market

will post drill after thawing out for /k/ csi identification.

ayam caught a cold

last night can't sleep, dunno why. this morning woke up with ..somewhat itchy nose nozzle, then i sneeze damn alot today.
then after tat, got runny nose all day long till now. im oso having slight fever now. not bed-ridden type, just slightly 1.

how to reduce ar? i can't go to class if tis thing worsen...this morning going to class felt like hell already, having to go to bathroom
every 10 minutes just to clear my nostril.

ps, im abroad, weather here quite cold, mild winter, around 10~13C.

v-moda bassfreq and front audio jack...

hi, not sure where to post this, but here i go.
first of all, im not that literate when comes to audio thingy, mind that.

just bought myself v-moda bassfreq metal earphone. been using it for my mp3, mobile devices, yada yada,
and couldn't be more satisfied. real good stuff.

so back home, tried to use it on my pc. sadly, plugging it to the front audio jack gives me buzzy / weird sounds, like it is missing some channel or something. however, using the back audio jack removes this problem. i can live with that, except i rather plugging it to the front as it is more convenient for me that way.

any thoughts why this problem occur? any fix around it?

im running gigabyte p61a-d3 board with integrated soundcard.
