Earlier this year, it was reported that Netflix was developing a Punisher spin-off, set to focus on Jon Bernthal’s gun-toting vigilante from Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2. The report was met with caution from Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb, but now Marvel and Netflix have made it official!

Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle in the series with Hannibal executive producer Steve Lightfoot set to serve as the series’ showrunner.

Krypton (Syfy)

DC Comics’ hold on television properties continues to expand today with the announcement that Syfy is moving forward with “Krypton,” a new television series that will explore the history of Superman’s ill-fated birth planet.

Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

The idea for “Krypton” originated with The Dark Knight scribe David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time”). Goldberg is set to draft the pilot with Goyer attached to executive produce.

In the late 1980′s, John Byrne scripted a comic book miniseries called “The World of Krypton”. It introduced a version of Kal-El’s paternal grandfather named Seyg-El (named for Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel). There’s no word yet on whether or not the new series will keep that name, however.

Krysten Ritter Cast as Marvel’s Jessica Jones!

Two weeks ago we learned about the actresses testing for the role of Jessica Jones in Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series and today Deadline brings word that “Breaking Bad” and “Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23″ actress Krysten Ritter has been cast in the role! The outlet also reveals that Halo: Nightfall‘s Mike Colter is the top choice for the role of her husband, Luke Cage, who will appear in seven of the planned thirteen “Jessica Jones” episodes.

XMEN 92's Cartoon Teaser

ComicBook.com brings the latest teaser, which is for a series titled X-Men ’92. The teaser art shows much of the core X-Men team from the fan-favorite animated series that ran from 1992-97. It would appear Marvel is taking a page from DC’s book by continuing the adventures of a completed TV series in comic book form, as DC has done with both Batman ’66 and the upcoming Wonder Woman ’77

What’s peculiar about the addition of X-Men ’92 is how it will fit in with all of the previously-revealed teasers, which have all mostly been past storylines from the comics, albeit with a bit of a twist, such as Civil War, Planet Hulk, Years of Future Past, and others. X-Men ’92, however, only has precedent as a TV series. Could we be seeing Marvel include older shows (and possibly even movies?) in their summer 2015 event

Death threats, slander against pet-a-dog organiser is freedom of speech, says Muslim group

Defenders of the recent pet-a-dog event have no right to get upset over death threats and slander from its critics if they also defend freedom of speech - Pembela

“What we find absurd was why Syahredzan, who all this while wanted to be a champion and hero of freedom of speech such as in the laws he drafted, wanted to restrict others’ freedom of speech to criticise the event?” said the portal called Bangkit.

“Did [the threats] want to harm the organisers and participants? Even if there were comments with elements of threat, is it true they had an intent to threaten and was the intent made clear by a team of lawyers?”

The portal Bangkit also alleged that by holding the event, Syed Azmi had not only insulted Muslims in the country, but subsequently the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as a designated Head of Islam, who was allegedly appointed to “protect Islam from any insults at all times”.

“What would His Highness feel when international news channels broadcasted faces of Malay-Muslim girls, wearing uniform yellow shirts, and wearing headscarves as Muslims, excitedly touching dogs in many poses?”

“It was as if portraying the citizens of His Highness — the Head of State of an Islamic country where Islam is exalted as a Religion of the Federation — as Muslims who were desperate towards dogs,” it alleged.
