Scholarships Intake Questions

Guess it's my turn to ask..
Say, there're scholarship with names consisting of "Blabla Scholarship 2011", or "...the scholarship for 2011 is now open" statement which came out in 2011. Now, without any statement referring directly that the 2011 is the intake or application date, how would we know?

Ivy and Oxbridge Dream

Hey guys, it seemed that many Malaysians, though with high hope of admission into fine universities, have no absolute dream of entering the finest few that students of other nations sought for.. The Ivy League, comprising of the infamous Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Stanford and others are the best of the best in United States, while Oxbridge, components of Oxford and Cambridge is the most prestigious universities in UK.. Students from both nations regard highly of each other and is the target of millions of applicants per annum.
However, there are lack of motivation for students to pursue this high rise aim.. I wanna know why. And if I'm wrong, and you do have the Ivy and Oxbridge Dream, head on and explain what have you done in your part for admission .
By the way, you're all invited to watch Ivy Dream on youtube where it depicts a few Asian American in pursuit of entering the Ivy League.

ADDITION; woops, guess Stanford's not in the list.. Then I might be mixed up with some instituition in the Ivy League with the begining of S.

Rare SPM Subject

Anyone have any knowledge on the SPM's Sains Sukan (Sports Science)? Kinda rare to see anyone taking it. As far as I know, it's just two papers and basic knowledge in Biology is sufficient for it. Anyone would recommend this subject to be taken up by regular student whose school does not even know the existence of this Science?

I've come to a conclusion that most students who excel both in academics and extracurricular don't appear much on newspapers.. Because they'll always get the scholarships they want, and never need to appeal. Those top scorers on newspapers are no doubt good in their studies, but always guess why weren't they picked? Because they're just mere nerds.
Pulling back to the title, the holidays are coming! Any busy schedules or extracurricular activities that fill up your time?

Rejecting an accepted application

Lets say I've applied to more than 5 universities at a time, for regular decision. And all five replied an unconditioned offer, accepted for sure. Within the 5, I had a preference, so can I reject the other 4? I mean, without any side effect, such as blacklists, or fines?

Test simple English vocabularies while giving out free grains of rice to the poor!
Seemed too good to be true? Maybe. Maybe not.
Try visiting http://freerice.com and sign up, then we'll try to make a group for lowyat.
On that page, it states that for every correct answer, they'll be giving out 10 grains of rice. Maybe it's their incentive to improve English education, I don't know. It's all super simple English words (battling with the standards of only Elementary standards) and their definitions, and answering them in objective form, or try out other subjects such as Art (Famous Paintings), Geography (Identify countris on the map and World Capitals), Maths (Pre-Algebra and Multiplication Table), Language Learning (German, Spanish, French and Italians) and Basic Chemistry (Chemical Symbols [basic] and Chemical Symbols [Full list]). English subject includes English Grammar and English Vocabulary.
I don't know how real the incentives are, but hey, the questions are worth revising, even with your eyes closed . Check it out.

Now only I realise that they're for the World Food Programme!

JPA Stuffs Got Me Confused

Briefly, if JPA were to be applied after SPM, then pre u are to be skipped? I mean, if there's an offer, we're straight to our first degree? Or the offers are to the foundation first, then to the degree?
Help clarify.

How long is the undergraduate courses? For extra info, how long is the master's degree courses?
Just state it out or what's provided by your med school.

Part Time Certificate Course?

Is there any part-study certificate course where I can study other curriculum while studying for the certificate?
Preferably during pre-u stage courses.

UEC Examinations!

Don't ask me why, but I wanna take the UEC examinations in addition with the SPM. Can that be done?
Besides, I heard that UEC is very difficult compared to SPM. So, what extra should I study in addition, and is there any reference books?

Hi,
As all of us might know it, Singapore is famous for its excellent education. To ensure a good competitive community, the Ministry of Education worked with Cambridge to beef up a Singapore-Cambridge A Level, notorious for its difficulty.
Although its famous for its difficulty, does colleges recognize its difficulty? Does its difficulty pay off?
