My external HDD is a WD Elements 1048.

Hey guys, I'm looking to sell my stock of NEW card sleeves quickly hence these cheap prices. You won't be able to find such prices at your local stores (as a gauge, other stores typically sell the sleeves anywhere between RM12 - RM15).

---
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
QUESTION: Will your card sleeve fit [insert game title]?

ANSWER: You can do one of the following:

1. Use this sleeve chart. Once that image has loaded, put your card up against your computer screen and see if it fits.
2.
Water-damaged lens and focusing problems, related?

Long story short, while tubing down a river in Laos, the "waterproof" bag I rented which I placed my camera and my Canon 24-105 lens in was somehow flooded with river water by the end of the trip. The moment I returned to Malaysia, I immediately sent the camera+lens to the Canon Service Centre and the guy told me that both could not be saved.

A few months later, I saw someone posted here offering their lens repairing services (from what I gather to be a reputable shop), so I thought I'd give it a shot.

A few days after that, they told me that my lens has been fixed, I took a few shots with my newly acquired 7D camera, and all was well.

Or so I thought.

Lately I noticed that whenever I shoot with my 24-105 (as opposed with my 10-22), I seem to be getting a LOT of out of focus shots. I recently used it at an exhibition for my company, and as there's relatively low light, I used ISO 1600 (my philosophy was - better get noisy pics than out of focus pics) many times which I think should not be related to the OOF pics.

Anyhow, I'm just wondering if my lens is suffering problems related to said river water? Could something that I can't see on the lens be eroded? In your opinion, would the river water cause my lens to produce a lot of OOF pics? I don't remember ever experiencing these sorta problems prior to the lens swimming with the river water - but I'm not sure if it's because of that or because of the new 7D that I'm using.

It's a bit of a hassle to send it to Canon Service Centre due to my long working hours (I work till 7pm and sometimes 9pm), so I'm trying to see if there are any other alternatives I can look into or if you have any comments about this.

Many thanks in advance!

Is it possible to invest in the FTSE?

I'm interested to do some index investing, and since US taxation and estate laws are kinda deterring me from investing in them, another alternative I found is the FTSE whose ETFs I'm interested to purchase. But at the moment I'm not sure which online broker (local or UK) that we can use - does anyone know?

I don't believe CIMB's i*trade allow us to invest in the FTSE.

Uploading to Flickr doesn't work/is very slow

I'm currently using Streamyx's 1mbps package after upgrading from 512kbps. I wasn't able to upload using their Flickr Uploadr program or their Flash-based uploader (the uploads won't be finished or the progress will be halted), but I can only upload using their web-based uploader.

So after asking them about the problem, they suggested that it could be an ISP-related problem, and suggested that "setting to a slightly lower MTU value or matching it to the value used by your ISP helps". What exactly is this MTU value?

Also, does anyone else have problems uploading to Flickr using their home Streamyx connection? Right now I can only upload my pictures through my college.. which is terribly inconvenient.

I'm interested to travel to Kunming, or more specifically, to see the beautiful surroundings of Lijiang. However, travelling with MAS to Kunming (from KUL) is too expensive for me, about RM1.8k for a return ticket for the random dates I've selected in May.

I was thinking of using AirAsia to travel to Hanoi, and then maybe take a bus or a train to Kunming? Right now AirAsia doesn't have a promotion for Hanoi though (though it has a promo for Ho Chi Minh City), so I dunno if I should wait. I can only travel between May and July this year. =/

Any ideas or suggestions that you seasoned travellers may have?

Lactose-free muscle/mass gainer?

It seems to me that it's incredibly difficult to find any muscle/mass gainer that's 100% lactose-free. I tried Cyto Gainer that claims to be 98% lactose-free, and while it's good, I still get side-effects from it (ie: diarrhoea) which means that I'm sensitive even to that tiny 2% amount of lactose.

And then I did some googling and found Nature's Best Isopure Mass which is supposedly 100% lactose-free. Thing is, I don't think I've seen it anywhere, and googling for Malaysian sites returns nearly no results at all.

Right now, the shop I'm going to recommended some soy-based protein powder along with some box of carbs for some calorie boost. But.. they're really too expensive (RM320 for two small bottles of the soy-based protein and a large bottle of carbs; 1 bottle of the soy-based protein contains only about 20 servings). I'm looking for something cheaper though. :/

Any ideas guys?

Background: I only started going to the gym last month trying to put on some weight and mass. So I'm still new to this whole working out stuff.

Portfolio management for low net worth investor?

I'm reading up on the subject and it seems that private management firms are only for high net worth individuals and other institutions due to the high costs involved. Are there no other alternatives for individuals like me who want someone to manage my portfolio of investments due to my inexperience, or should I seek advice from a financial advisor or something?

I'd like to try my hand at investing in stock markets (including international ones for diversification purposes) for a period of about 5 years, but I'm a little wary to do so at the moment, again, given my inexperience where I don't know if I'm investing at the 'right' time or not, etc. Been investing in mutual funds, but given my young age (I'm in my 20s), I'd like to move on to something else.

Would appreciate any advice/opinions!

Flickr Pro - good idea for backuping pics?

I have amassed some 50GB pics and I need these to be backup-ed before anything happens to my pics, which are currently stored in an external hard drive.

Another external hard drive doesn't seem to be the best of solution, so I figured I should be uploading my pics.. somewhere else. And Flickr Pro comes to mind.. but I've never used Flickr that much so I don't know if this is a good idea - does anyone have a Flickr Pro account who would like to comment?

Or what other suggestions do you guys have?

I don't know if it's just me, but I've been sending my photos to be printed at those photo printing shops (4R size), and the photos turned out to be a little different than when I view the photos in my computer, ie: sharpness not there, colours aren't as good as when I view them through the monitor, etc. :/ I dunno if I'm expecting too much, but the printed photos definitely do not have the same quality as pics printed in magazines. Any thoughts/ideas? :/

Travelling with hard cash or traveller's cheque?

I'm just curious about you people who backpack/travel a lot, do you guys travel around in cold hard cash or purchase some traveller's cheques beforehand?

Ever since I started backpacking with my friend - who's somewhat experienced in backpacking himself - we've been carrying cash with us everywhere by ourselves. Most of the time we spread the cash everywhere - deep in the backpack, or our waist pouch - and haven't been facing any troubles except once when a certain sum of money mysteriously disappeared.. can't for the life of us figure out whether it was stolen or we merely miscalculated.

I've not used traveller's cheques before, so I'm curious if you guys actually do that? 'cause when you cash out the cheques, you WILL be charged a certain amount of fee/commission, right? I'm planning on a trip to NZ sometime this coming November and I don't know whether I should just bring hard cash or traveller's cheques this time around.

Different types of CPL filters?

I was browsing through the Net for CPL filters for my Canon 10-22 and I notice that there are way too many different types of filters even for a particular brand, say, Hoya, or B+W. My question is, are there any noticeable difference between one CPL filter and the other?

Which one would you guys recommend, if I don't have that big of a budget?

Insurance for photography equipment?

Just curious, is there such a thing as an insurance for photography equipment, and if so, what companies would you recommend?

I'm travelling to Bangkok at the end of this month, and to Macau early next year, and obviously when I bring my gear around I'd like a peace of mind in case I get robbed etc.

Would appreciate any input!

Should I delay purchasing a lens to save money?

I posted this in the Canon EOS 3-digit topic but didn't get much response, so thought I'd re-post it here just to get some opinions/feedback from you guys.

QUOTE

Just want some opinion and other points of view from you guys.. I'm going to Bangkok end of next month and a shop there (Fotofile) is selling the Canon 10-22mm for RM2.2k, while in Hong Kong a shop is selling it for close to RM2k. Incidentally I'm going to HK next January.. do you think I should just grab the lens in Bangkok, or save the RM200 while waiting for 6-7 months for it?

This is where I couldn't decide whether time = money. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Hi guys, you can say I'm fairly new to photography and I seek to improve my photos by posting some shots I've taken here - so I really do appreciate any C&C. Especially composition, in which I think I'm a little un-creative at. Also recently acquired a Canon EOS 450D. So in no particular order of the shots I've snapped in the past:

#1 - When I was in Laos last December at a quiet, quaint village. Snapped with a PnS, post-processed with HDR.

#2 - At Ulu Yam 2 weeks back. Post-processed with HDR & Orton.

#3 - Splashing water with friends.

#4 - Sungai Sendat.

#5 - An attempt at portrait photography.

#6 - For some reason the bokeh is covers too large an area even though it's shot at f/2.8. I was using my 50mm f/1.8 lens.. trying to improve my shots on food as well, can anyone specifically C&C this?
