question on bulk and shred rocket science

okie... i need some facts or rocket science here... or some bashing perhaps...
this might also sound idiot... but yes i have a question....
so when we bulk, we gain fat and muscle then we shred we lose fat and muscle. Question is how do we maintain the right bulk/shred composition so that muscle will be more than fat at end of the day? cause e.g bulk add 1kg fat 5kg muscle...then shred... end up shred 1kg fat and 5kg muscle as well... is it that the calorie count have to be carefully evaluated during bulk and shred or some other factors?

Egg yolk vs Egg white

Hi, i have been going through many thread and seems debate on the egg white and egg yolk thingy often arise... and off and on there are people suspicious that eating egg yolk is high cholesterol so in the end it is dump.. left out the egg white...

so i google around and round interesting article and comparison..

QUOTE

In fact, the slew of nutrients in an egg yolk is so comprehensive that a few a day would offer better insurance than a multi-vitamin. Most importantly, the yolk contains most of the nutrients in an egg.

Hm.... is this real? i still prefer multi vitamins...

Egg Yolks Versus Egg Whites

Nutrient	White	Yolk % White % Yolk
Protein 3.6 g	2.7g 57%	43%
Fat 0.05g	4.5g 1%	99%
Calcium 2.3 mg	21.9 mg 9.5%	90.5%
Magnesium 3.6 mg	0.85 mg 80.8%	19.2%
Iron 0.03 mg	0.4 mg 6.2%	93.8%
Phosphorus 5 mg	66.3 mg 7%	93%
Potassium 53.8 mg	18.5 mg 74.4%	25.6%
Sodium 54.8 mg	8.2 mg 87%	13%
Zinc 0.01 mg	0.4 mg 0.2%	99.8%
Copper 0.008mg 0.013 mg	38% 62%
Manganese 0.004mg 0.009 mg	30.8%	69.2%
Selenium 6.6 mcg	9.5 mcg 41%	59%
Thiamin 0.01 mg	0.03 mg 3.2%	96.8%
Riboflavin 0.145mg	0.09 mg 61.7%	48.3%
Niacin 0.035mg 0.004 mg	89.7%	9.3%
Pantothenic acid0.63 mg	0.51 mg 11%	89%
B6 0.002mg 0.059 mg	3.3%	96.7%
Folate 1.3 mcg	24.8 mcg	5%	95%
B12 0.03mcg 0.331 mcg	8.3%	91.7%
Vitamin A 0 IU	245 IU 0%	100%
Vitamin E 0 mg	0.684 mg	0%	100%
Vitamin D 0 IU	18.3 IU 0%	100%
Vitamin K 0 IU	0.119 IU	0%	100%
Omega-3 &6 0%	100%
Carotenes	0 mcg	21 mcg 0%	100%
Tryptophan	0.04 g	0.03g 57%	43%
Threonine 0.15 g	0.12 g 55.5%	44.5%
Isoleucine 0.22 g	0.15 g 59.5%	40.5%
Leucine 0.34 g	0.24 g 58.6%	41.4%
Lysine 0.27 g	0.2 g 57.4%	42.6%
Methionine 0.13 g	0.064 g 67%	33%
Phenylalanine 0.23 g	0.12 g 66%	34%
Valine 0.27 g	0.16 g 62.4%	43.6%

http://www.cholesterol-and-health.com/Egg_Yolk.html

however this prove that egg yolk is the best and today onwards, egg yolk i ll come....

Hope this helps for those who have doubt on egg yolk...
Gain muscle in a week...!

Hey..while i was browsing net..i found something interesting in menshealth site..... my god is it really i can gain that much muscle in a week..... just an info to share... might be interesting to some of you.

1. Eat meat.

Shoot for about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, which is roughly the maximum amount your body can use in a day, according to a landmark study in the Journal of Applied Physiology. (For example, a 160-pound man should consume 160 grams of protein a day--the amount he'd get from an 8-ounce chicken breast, 1 cup of cottage cheese, a roast-beef sandwich, two eggs, a glass of milk, and 2 ounces of peanuts.) Split the rest of your daily calories equally between carbohydrates and fats.

2. Eat more.

In addition to adequate protein, you need more calories. Use the following formula to calculate the number you need to take in daily to gain 1 pound a week. (Give yourself 2 weeks for results to show up on the bathroom scale. If you haven't gained by then, increase your calories by 500 a day.)
A. Your weight in pounds: _____
B. Multiply A by 12 to get your basic calorie needs: _____
C. Multiply B by 1.6 to estimate your resting metabolic rate (calorie burn without factoring in exercise): _____
D. Strength training: Multiply the number of minutes you lift weights per week by 5: _____
E. Aerobic training: Multiply the number of minutes per week that you run, cycle, and play sports by 8: _____
F. Add D and E, and divide by 7: _____
G. Add C and F to get your daily calorie needs: _____
H. Add 500 to G: _____. This is your estimated daily calorie needs to gain 1 pound a week.

To gain a pound of muscle per week, add 500 calories to your daily caloric intake required to maintain your weight.

3. Down the carbs after your workout.

Research shows that you'll rebuild muscle faster on your rest days if you feed your body carbohydrates. "Post-workout meals with carbs increase your insulin levels," which, in turn, slows the rate of protein breakdown, says Doug Kalman, R.D., director of nutrition at Miami Research Associates. Have a banana, a sports drink, a peanut-butter sandwich.

4. Have some milk before bed.

Eat a combination of carbohydrates and protein 30 minutes before you go to bed. The calories are more likely to stick with you during sleep and reduce protein breakdown in your muscles, says Kalman. Try a cup of raisin bran with a cup of skim milk or a cup of cottage cheese and a small bowl of fruit. Eat again as soon as you wake up. "The more diligent you are, the better results you'll get," says Kalman.

5. Make one snack ice cream.

Have a bowl of ice cream (any kind) 2 hours after your workout. According to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, this snack triggers a surge of insulin better than most foods do. And that'll put a damper on post-workout protein breakdown.

This information was taken from the article "Pack 10," by Adam Campbell.
http://www.menshealth.com/cda/article.do?s...000cfe793cd____
