[WTF] Shop sell Tackifire SP Soft/Tackifire C Soft

Time of the year when I am about to change rubbers for my bat.

Any suggestion for shop that dont charge too much? My budget for 2 rubber Tackifire SP Soft and Tackifire C Soft, is about RM250 (plus minus RM 20 or so ).

I am aware of Butterfly Shop in Pertama Complex, Pingpong equipment shop in UE3 and Tenryu in Subang. How about other shop in KL, PJ or Shah Alam?

Search both rubber in Tenryu website and they don't have it. Will make my round tomorrow, hence the question about shop to survey.

I don't buy online because normally I will have shop cut and assemble the bat.

Thanks In Advance

EDIT:
1. Rubber name from Tackiness C II to Tackifire C Soft
2. Budget is for both rubber together, if Tackifire C Soft not available or to expensive, can change to Tackiness C (not the number II version).

[WTA] Where to find furniture spare part supplier?

Hello everyone!

[Moderator, please move to appropriate forum if needed. Tried my best]

I have this one glass table with one bent leg and looking for spare part. Refer to picture.

Probably I can find steel workshop to do this. But trying furniture shop first.

When googled. I get teamstar website. I have been to teamstar shop before and base on previous experience they might not have this kind of stuff (but will try them tomorrow).

So maybe other people have experience with furniture shop that also sell spare part and provide repair service as well?

Or experience with steel workshop/machine-shop that have parts and can cut etc.

I also need service to bend steel back into it straight shape. Probably (just my assumption) someone with portable torch who can heat and straighten steel. I have tried using hand, but the steel is really strong and does not retain straight shape.

Thanks in advance!

Additional note: Probably I can take out the bent steel and replace it with not bent steel too. But need tool to "unscrew" it. Tried with a pliers but does not make "unscrew" movement at all.

The AliBaba of Job Marketplace

To keep thing short (since I have tendency no to )

Just 45 minutes ago I was browsing Job street and find few adverts interesting. These adverts are direct hire and clearly specify the company (big well known companies that no one will miss).

Only few minutes later found the same copy of job description advertised on another website under the herald of anonymous "Advertiser".

And this bring me to WTH (Want to Hire) advertisement in LYN forum. There is a pattern of head hunters with unknown association. Some are new user with only few post. Some just ask cv without even any real job being described. I have raise this issue before in LYN since CV have many personal information as well as other people information (company, client, reference, etc).

This "AliBaba" ing of the job market is acceptable if done by valid recruitment company. But the anonymous nature suggest otherwise (i.e suggesting that not valid/legal company behind it).

WHY THIS POST
I would like to know what you guys (job seeker, LYN patron) think about this. Through this discussion and opinion exchange. I hope LYN admins can do some changes. Like making it a must for "Job Provider" to disclose their association (company, freelance, anonymous). This way valid head hunter can get more serious attention. While those who insist to stay anonymous can still post. But user will be more aware about the risk.

No more public DropBox for new user!

FYI, you can read more here at Toms Hardware sister site.

Dropbox Canning Public Folders For New Accounts

This remind me about when Microsoft announce that existing Sky Drive user can have additional 20 GB storage out of thin air. Just by applying for it within few weeks time. (Now I have 25GB free storage for Sky Drive, a friend of mine who ignore my alert got only 5 GB!)

This time this is for new user of DropBox who will find their account unable to host public file share. If they registered after 31st Jully. So those without DropBox account act wisely and with speed!

*** New user who are interested, please PM me your email address so that I can invite you for signing up. This way I can gain some referral benefit out of it . Thanks and really appreciate it! ***

Why Drop Box? For the longest time drop box has been a friendly place to drop your file and share publicly in the web. Hence the drop box name. After that they enhance their service by allowing user to sync private file from everywhere, cloud, desktop, notebook and even from Linux PC byy installing client software. It will be a sad day when Drop Box user can not share file publicly. But life goes on.

Have Fun!

*** Update: Or please use this Register Drop Box to register.
New NGO for open source people

Yesterday, that is 11 April. We got this meeting to establish a new NGO that fight for the opensource community.

All the communication happened in Facebook. Completely evade my mind at that time to invite people from this forum to participate.

But it is not too late. At this point we have a more concrete information that can be pass arround as words of mouth. While waiting for ROS (Registrar of Society?) registration finish.

So I leave the temporary page leading to the event up until a proper website is established. You guys can see it at

New NGO Establishment - PSBST

Will update here as more information come up.

Would like to clarify that my involvement with the NGO only as temporary secretary of the above event. So please take information here with grain of salt and do not treat it as official information and statement from the NGO.

A lot of things need to be done in super fast mode. So please expect some chaos before things get straighten out

Arduino Tour

Hello guys! I am one of Arduino official distributor in Malaysia. Wondering about taking some of the responsibility more seriously

When I started, Arduino was slowly becoming well known. At that time, had the opportunity to "goreng" the Arduino head honchos in Italy about promoting their product across the country. To the point that they list their first ever distributor for Malaysia in their web site. (well, that was like one to two years ago, now the list has grown like mushroom after rainy days, so to say!)

Sadly, never got the chance to really execute my intention. Due to works (having too much fun with it). Until recently that is! With almost all project wrapped up, a daughter safely born and in tip top health (first year birthday coming soon!) as well having too much free time nowadays.

So I hope to use this thread as a sounding box to gather people opinion as well as those people who are very interested to attend such small event. What I have in mind is as follows.

1. Across peninsular Malaysia, to city/towns that have as much people interested with such gathering. Or at least convenient for people to attend. Major places like Penang, Kuala Lumpur and JB come to mind.

2. A city each in Sabah and Sarawak. Sabah is no issue as I am from time to time in Tawau (will be there on March for about 2 weeks). And from there I can go to KK using bus or flight. Sarawak is a big state. So perhaps I can get feedback here from Sarawakian who have interest in Arduino. To choose one location where they can conveniently visit and participate.

3. This is not a commercial activity. Will do my best to make the experience very educational. There is no ticket or fees to pay for attendees. It will not be a day long. At most, a short 2 hour activity followed up by discussion and question. Discussion is very valuable since feedback from the community are very much appreciated and the real reason behind the tour.

4. With that said, appreciate helps from individual or company to contribute their time as well as help with providing place for the activity. Again, this is not commercial activity. Really do not expect conference hall for hundreds of people. This is the first time such thing is done. A small meeting room that can take between 10 to 20 people is enough. A company having such room (with projector) and willing to donate 2 to 4 hour of time usage is really appreciated.

5. There is no set date for this yet. Let's put this at RFC (Request for Comment) stage. Definitely I will need feedback from the good & kind LYN community. On what kind of activity or contents that you guys would love to have in the 2 hour presentation during the tours. For instant, different activity in different places. And we can you tube everything as series of very useful tutorial/presentation.

Let's treat this thread as work in progress. Will update this first post from time to time. However a reply with this format is really appreciated.

-----

Name/Nick : {Name/nick or representing company etc with short introduction. You can "goreng" all the way as long as no more than 80 words }

Location : {Just put your current location, will you be interested to attend? As well as where is convenient to attend}

Suggestion : {Preferably what kind of activity you would love to see the most, but other kind of feedback and suggestion is also appreciated}

-----

Arduino is micro controller board and an easy platform for fast prototyping of electronic stuff. With easy to use IDE for programming, utilizing C. Surprisingly, almost everything is done at library level. To the point that usually there is no reason to write all the codes from scratch. On the hardware side, those who want to go straight to prototyping without much hardware assembly or soldering. Can do so very easily with the many shields available from 3rd party supplier/manufacturer. And shields usually come with the required library. So it is doubly easy, both on the hardware and software coding side!

* For more information you can visit www.Arduino.cc. Where the Italian head honchos reside.

*PST - Dear moderators, I am not promoting my website here. Above website is Arduino website. Which is community oriented and open source.

Buy Arduino Sensors & Shield V2

Hello again guys! Just to let you guys in LYN open source community know about this fantastic open source hardware and software microcontroller board solution. We are not kidding, even the schematic is open source! And we bulk import it for you!

With the success of bulk order V1 we are proceeding to V2. With the number 2 we are doing it double trouble style!

Single Trouble
Being official distributor of Arduino Malaysia (check it out here!). I get special price as well as regular shipping direct from the Italian team! What better way to buy cheap than to hitch a ride on this fast shipping lane. In addition to that, I am experimenting with a new modifier for this round. Take note, this modifier only apply to Arduino official product' Being experimental stuff, it might not be in the V3 round! So act fast.

Buy quantity 2 or more of the same Arduino Official product and get additional RM5 discount
each on top of all the valid price modifier.

For instance buying 2 Arduino Duemilanove and you get each of them at RM95 (RM100 - RM5). Buying any third item, and you get each of them at RM88 (RM93 -RM5). First time ever an Arduino board is at that magical double 8 price!

Double Trouble
Not all stuff are available from Arduino Team! That is why in the last BULK round we import stuff from DFRobot in China.

This time arround we will do a bigger favor from longer distant! Right from the heart of United State of America. From another popular electronic & robotic supplier. We bring you stuff from Spark Fun. Well known for their motors and gears. This really is a wet dream for robotic enthusiast.

Browse to spark fun and identify the product that you want. PM me the link to the product. I will quote you the same dolar price as Spark fun plus few dollars for handling cost.

Why BULK with Homebrew-Tech.com
We are official distributor and a Malaysia registered company. We are Malaysian and not some trader lurking in China. We work hard to cater for your importing needs. For COD in KL, everyone come at the same time to have a look at everyone toy! Some of us even demo their latest DIY homebrew project!

We use fast shipping method. We know you are anxious to get your hand on your new toy. For instance in the last round, using DHL to ship from China. The COD participant get it next day after product is shipped. That is sweet. With that said we expect shipping from US to be no more than 3 working days! Our pledge to deliver using POS Laju is within 7 working days from order and deposit confirmation.

Jump In!
For more information and to participate in discussion. Please visit the Bulk thread.

This is service from Malaysian and to Malaysian electronic homebrewing community. Please send us feedback so that we can improve our service.
Buy Arduino Sensors & Shield

Hello guys!

Just to point out that my Bulk Order for Arduino & Electronic stuff is ongoing with 3 people in it. Meaning we are going to ship soon!

With that said. Since my shipping quota already fulfilled. I am opening it up for those small order. Just as a service for fellow LYN members. And this will not happen often.

For instance if you just want to buy 1 RGB LED or maybe 1 sensor. It does not really make sense to order it from China right? When International shipping will cost you USD20 and up.

Well not until now! Because now you can piggyback with my international shipping. Only pay pos laju after it arrive in Malaysia or COD in Jalan Ipoh.

To order is as follows:

1. Go to DFrobot Website and choose any product that is instock !!!IMPORTANT!!! the product must be in stock.

2. Look at the price in US$. That is the price I going to offer you. Basically convert it to Malaysian Ringgit, round up to make it an even number and add 1 or 2 ringgit for handling.

3. Back to Lowyat.Net forum and PM me with the link to the product.

4. I am going to reply to that PM with final quote on the price. Plus how much deposit and to which account number.

5. Place your deposit and PM me back.

After that is done. Then come the waiting part. I am using DHL for shipping. So the good news is it will be fast!

After it arrive in Malaysia. Time to pay the full amount! Then you guys can either COD from me in Jalan Ipoh 2 1/2 Mile. Or pay Pos Laju shipping to anywhere in Malaysia.

Regards >> Haris >> Consultant >> Homebrew & Technology

OK I'm going to list up some stuff to give you guys ideas.

1. MICRO DC GEARED MOTOR WITH BACK SHAFT - US$4.30

2. TRIPLE OUTPUT LED RGB - US$ 1.50

3. JUMPER CABLES (70 pcs pack) - US$ 4.90

4.. DIGITAL VIBRATION SENSOR - US$ 4.50

5. ANALOG SOUND SENSOR - US$ 5.90

6. Joystick module - US$7.90

7. 6-IN-1 SOLAR ROBOT KIT - US$ 7.90

8. WIICHUCK ADAPTER (ARDUINO COMPATIBLE) - US$ 2.50

--------------------------------

A little bit about H&T.
Arduino Malaysia !Free Gift Contest!

Hello guys,

Kinda miss this forum for event and stuff. !!! BUT IT IS STILL NOT TOO LATE !!!

Arduino Malaysia is a new community set to launch in the coming weeks.

The launch it self is being coordinated to happened (almost) at the same time as big news from the Arduino community at large.

Since the big news have to be kept secrete. I am going to add a new incentive for you guys to join. Yup you read the title correctly. There is a contest to those who join up. Stand a chance to win a free gift worth RM120 (inclusive cable - for those cable fetish. You might think that I am one since I have been repeating inclusive cable in all my post this few days ).

However I am being too much ahead of myself now.

1. What is Arduino. Well for lack of better words (less than 80 words count that is), you can discover everything at the community website. Arduino Community. No worries, this is a community web site. So no individual get rich by you visiting this site. But the community do... and you will too! You will become rich with knowledge that is!

2. What is Arduino Malaysia. Because we (hopefully there will be lots of we in the future) love Arduino so much. It is such a great product. If you love electronics, you would like to do it yourself the way you will always love it. You are always welcome to join us in this new community from Malaysian, by Malaysian and to Malaysian. Err... perhaps foreign people also .

3. Big news is coming! We are not allowed to tell you yet. But you are free to discover it. I am allowed to give give this hint.

---> Hint : Visit the Arduino.cc web site and looks for news. That simple!

Without much ado and holding off the excitement. Here is the hint on how to participate in contest that is being secretly and quietly held in Low Yat Net own forum (it is not a secrete that I love LYN, long live the king of tech forum in Malaysia!).

----> Another Hint : Check my sig.

Best Regards >> Haris
