Re-installing windows 7 questions

Hello sifu's,

i want to re-install my windows 7, and due to some unknown reason i cant do it through my recovery manager.

currently i have 4 partitions on my hard drive which was already that way when i got it

1st is local disk C
2nd is recovery D
3rd is HP TOOLS F
4th is SYSTEM

the 1st partition has all the windows files, program files, etc. and im pretty sure this is where windows is installed

2nd partition is the recovery, which for some reason i cant access to restore my laptop back to its factory condition. it doesnt even show up as a designated recovery drive when i use the recovery manager option 'restore to an earlier time'

3rd partition has some files labelled BIOS, BIOS update and System diags

4th partition when i open it, it shows 'this folder is empty'

My question now is that when i reinstall windows, i choose to install it on the Local disk C partition. will it affect the other partitions?

another question is, is there a way to restore the 'restore to factory condition' option in the recovery manager?? i used this function once before last year, so does it mean it can only be used once?...if the option cannot be restored, can i delete the partition since it is no longer useful?

btw i am using a HP G42 laptop

any help is very much appreciated

hi sifu's,

i recently tried to restore my HP G42 laptop back to factory settings. so i used the recovery manager provided and it did not allow me to select system restore and i did not want to recover to an earlier time. so i searched on the hp support forums and one of the suggested methods was to go to disk manager and set the recovery partition to primary boot. i tried this and the recovery manager still did not allow me to system restore.

now when i restart my laptop it just loads the recovery manager. i have tried restoring to an earlier time but i still get the same result, the recovery manager.

is there a way to change the partition settings back the way it was?....

i do not have a windows 7 re-installation CD...

or can anyone recommend a shop in lowyat or imbi plaza or anywhere in that area that can help me?
