I was browsing WIFI router last weekend at Lowyat plaza, and I spot a rarely seen router - Huawei WS880 AC1750 wifi router.

How to flash to third party firmware

Since it is broadcom chipset, it is supported by ASUSWRT and Tomato firmware, I managed to flash the firmware to ASUSWRT-MERLIN, and it detected WS880 as AC68U

It even supports UNIFI and Maxis broadband out of the box

The speed is awesome, I can get full speed of UNIFI 30Mbps even I sit at the far corner of 1st floor while my router is sitting at the ground floor living room

This router is no longer available at Lowyat, possibly not even available in Malaysia.

Convert Blu-Ray Movies to MKV

Since there are few forumers asking me how to rip the blu-ray movies to MKV, I'm here to write a simple guide for how to rip blu-ray movies and convert it to a MKV (Matroska MultiMedia Container)

Background

MKV is a opensource multimedia container, which means it is a container to hold videos, audios, subtitles, charters in one file.

Video can be H.264 codec, VC codec, MPEG2 codec or others
Audio can be DTS MA HD, Dolby True HD, LPCM, etc

It is just like m2ts, a standard container that is used by blu-ray.

Why need to convert to MKV?

It's simple to manage your movies, a single file contains video, audio, subtitles and charters.
Reduce movie file size, because you extract only the main movie, the MKV size is greatly reduce, a 45GB BD sometimes can be reduced to 25GB without any quality lost.
Broad support by various media players, and yet it is open source, so there are many free tools to create MKV file

How to convert blu-ray format to MKV?

There are basically two methods

1. A all-in-one tool that can rip and convert blu-ray movie to a single MKV file

There are few tools such as DVDFab, MakeMKV. I would recommend to use MakeMKV as it is currently still a free app, and it is quite reliable and yield satisfactory results

2. Remux tools to extract from m2ts and create MKV

Tools such as AnyDVD HD, bdinfo, tsMuxeR, MKVToolnix

I found the AM office selling mesh chair quite similar to aeron but price is RM1.2K, I wonder any other shop selling similar products but cheaper price.

MK Sound M series / 750 speakers

I'm interesting to get MK sound, I have auditioned it during KLIAV, feel it is fast responding, accurate and has solid bass sound speakers.

Due to my small HT room size (10' x 16'), it is difficult to put floor stand speakers/large speakers in front of my 92" HDTV screen. the MK sound speaker has small footprint and fit my requirements. but, I don't know my Denon 2310 can handle this 4ohm speakers or not.

I would like to hear comments from sifu that use/audition these speaker before. my primary usage is to watch movie, seldom listen to music. also, if anyone have other brands to recommend is very much welcome. the price tag for MK sound is kinda expensive (>14K for 5.1 set)

Repairing Optoma HD20 bought from U.S

My optoma HD20 recently displays many white vertical lines across entire screen , it happens after I moved in to my new house, the projectors just has been used for 64 hours

I google for the problem, some says it is color wheel issue, some say it is DMD issue, other say it is digital board issue, so I'd like to know is there any service center in Malaysia to fix this projector bought from U.S, if I don't want to send it back to U.S
