Myth: Toilet Seats Are the Dirtiest Thing.........

Myth: Toilet Seats Are the Dirtiest Thing in the Bathroom

Few inanimate objects arouse as much universal germ fear -- especially among women -- as the dreaded public toilet seat.

"That's like the first rule -- don't sit on the toilet seat," one woman told "20/20."

Another woman described public toilets as being both nasty and filthy. And a man told us he would "rather go almost anywhere else than a public bathroom."

"Fifty percent of American women won't sit on a seat without some type of guard or without hovering," said Allison Janse, author of "The Germ Freak's Guide to Outwitting Colds and Flu."

She admits she has spent years herself dangling over toilet seats, but now this self-professed germ freak is changing her attitude. She says paper toilet shields help your head more than your bottom, and those who hover often just leave a mess for the next person.

How Many Germs Sit on the Seat?
Mothers teach their daughters not to sit on a public toilet seat, but is this really a big source of germs?
"No," said Janse. "You're not going to get germs from your backside. You're going to get them from your hands."
To see if that's true, "20/20" asked Janse's co-author Dr. Charles Gerba to check our bathroom with his germ meter.

"Usually, actually the floor is the dirtiest, as you might guess," said Gerba.
The floor test revealed about 2 million bacteria per square inch. Gerba says that's about 200 times higher than a sanitary surface.
"This is pretty bad," said Gerba. "We consider that a fail. So you don't want to walk around barefoot in ABC News toilets."
Not surprisingly, the sanitary napkin disposal unit also failed the test and rated as the spot with the most germs in our ladies' room.

But our sink, an area that is usually a haven for germs, was found to be unexpectedly clean. The biggest surprise was found on the toilet seat.
"This is the cleanest spot so far," said Gerba.

Gerba defines a sanitary surface as something clean enough to eat off of, with no more than 1,000 bacteria per square inch. The toilet seat passed that test, but "20/20" reporter Don Dahler's desk failed.

Still, it will be hard for most people to accept the conclusions shown by the data.

"No matter how often you hear that, you know, it's safer to eat your turkey wrap off the toilet seat than your desktop at work, you're just not going to believe it," said Janse.

Avoiding Germs in the Stall

When you're out using a public restroom, there are a few things you should consider doing when it's time to visit a stall.
Janse said that since most people seek privacy by going to the stalls in the back of the bathroom, you will find fewer bacteria in the first stall.

And ladies, never put your bags on the floor.

"We found fecal bacteria on about 30 percent of the bottom of women's purses. So you may be moving bacteria from the bottom of the restroom floor to maybe the kitchen sink area when you're going to make lunch," said Gerba.
Here's another tip: Don't be deceived by appearances. While the men's room may look messier and smell much worse -- thanks to the urinal -- the ladies room harbors twice as much bacteria.

"There's probably more bacteria in the women's room because they spend a longer time there and also they bring in small children" said Gerba.
He says most of the germs you and your children pick up in the bathroom are on your hands, so make sure to wash them well but skip the so-called sanitary hand dryer.
"You actually end up with more bacteria with the hand blower because they're taking the air in the restroom and blowing it onto your hands with the bacteria on it," said Gerba.

But once your hands are clean there's no need to worry about the door handle.
"Really the cleanest areas in the bathroom are actually the door handle and the toilet seat," said Gerba.
He said that could just be because those are the two spots people fear and avoid the most.

6 Outrageously Overpriced Products

1. Movie Theater Popcorn
At the grocery store, microwave popcorn runs about $3 per box, and each box includes three 3.5 ounce bags. So why on earth would consumers even consider paying a whopping $6 for a single medium-sized bag of popcorn in the movie theater? No one knows exactly why - but for some bizarre reason, movie-goers continue to drain their wallets to crunch on a bag full of those greasy little nuggets during their favorite film.
After considering that movie theaters purchase popcorn in bulk, the average markup of movie theater popcorn is a whopping 1275%! At that steep price, you'd think those buttery bags were laced with gold.

2. Greeting Cards
Since when does a folded up piece of paper cost $2.99? Since someone slaps a precious kitty picture and a cleverly written message on it and then stamps the back of it with a well-known logo. That's right - we're talking about those pricey greeting cards. Many consumers spend hours poring over the neatly arranged stacks in the greeting card aisle, searching for the perfect message for their sister's birthday, their parent's anniversary or "Just Because."
The average greeting card costs between $2 and $4, and we consumers don't seem to think twice about paying that precipitous price. The markup is between 100 and 200% - which is not quite as shocking as movie theater popcorn, but it adds up quickly. When you consider how many of those paper jewels you buy each year, it's enough to send you running for the construction paper and markers. After all, it only costs a few cents to create a home-made card.

3. College Textbooks
In 2010, the annual in-state cost for the typical state university soared to more than $15,000, and private colleges now charge an average of $35,600 a year. As if college kids (and their parents) aren't financially drained enough, there's yet another inflated price they face: college textbooks. College students pay an average of $900 a year on textbooks and other supplies.
College textbook prices have skyrocketed by 186% since 1986, and these expensive volumes of knowledge now account for 26% of the overall cost of college. Unfortunately, broke college students are required to purchase these costly books for their classes. At least they can try to sell their books back to local book store at the end of the semester - for a few measly bucks.

4. Bottled Water
You've probably heard that "Evian" is simply "naïve" spelled backwards. OK, so the well-known company probably did not choose their name for that reason - but many people believe that consumers who buy bottled water are certainly naïve. After all, water is one of the most abundant resources in the world and is available for free from countless water fountains and sinks across the nation. Yet, many consumers are still willing to pay $3 a bottle of it.
In 2009, the U.S. Congress revealed that about 45% of bottled water comes from municipal taps - and then the bottled water company may or may not do some additional filtering before pouring it in their logo-stamped bottles. Still, Americans continue to buy more than 500 million bottles every week, making it the second most popular purchased drink (after soda).

5. Printer Ink
You may be able to buy a surprisingly affordable printer at your local office supply store, but don't start celebrating just yet. The printer companies make their biggest bucks on ink.
Over the life of your printer, you'll probably pay more than 500% of the total price of the printer itself on ink refill cartridges. At $30, a 42ml cartridge of black printer ink comes out to 71 cents per ml. On the other hand, the Red Cross charges $200 for 500 ml of blood, which comes out to about 40 cents per ml.

6. Brand-Name Fashions
How much did you pay for those True Religion jeans, that Burberry scarf and those towering Louboutin stilettos? Probably a small fortune. But it was worth every penny, right? Not so much. When it comes to designer clothes, it's pretty obvious that you are paying for the label.
As a matter of fact, brand-name clothes are often marked up by 500 to 1000%. Yet, fashion-conscious consumers continue to drain their bank accounts and pile up massive amounts of debt to stay on the cutting edge of couture.
[See 21 Ways to Save on Restaurants, Travel, and More]
Broke Consumers Are Saying No
The recession has hit many households hard, and thousands of broke consumers are passing on these and other overpriced products. So, does that mean the inflated prices of these items will eventually fall? Only time will tell. In the meantime, you may want to check your bank account before you hit the movie theater snack bar.

How Color Affects Our Mood

It you think of the way we describe certain emotions (seeing red, feeling blue, green with envy), there’s no denying that color and mood are inextricably linked. Slip on a tailored LBD and you instantly feel chic and sexy or pop open a sunny yellow umbrella on a gloomy day and some of that sunniness will undoubtedly rub off on you.

There are several reasons why colors are able to influence how we feel. "We react on multiple levels of association with colors -- there are social or culture levels as well as personal relationships with particular colors," explains Leslie Harrington, executive director of The Color Association of The United States, which forecasts color trends. "You also have an innate reaction to color. For example, when you look at red, it does increase your heart rate. It is a stimulating color. This goes back to caveman days of fire and danger and alarm."

You also have learned certain associations with color, such as red making your heart race since it’s linked with fire trucks and ambulances (in other words, alarm) or yellow having positive association simply because it was the color of your beloved grandmother’s kitchen. "As you get older, you become much more conscious of those learned reactions than the innate ones," adds Harrington.

Jeannie Mai, who hosts "How Do I Look?" on the Style Network and who recently paired up with Yoplait Light to encourage women to make simple swaps (from giving your clothes a boost of color to swapping out unhealthy eating habits), is a firm believer in the ability of clothes to boost your mood. She calls it "wearapy." "Therapists treat people with mood disorders," she says. "I use clothing and texture to enhance people’s moods and their lives.

On a bleak day it would be so easy to throw on a pair of jeans and a slouchy sweater, but I throw on something from spring -- a green mini skirt, fun fringe booties and a sweater with evening jewelry. That makes an impression on everyone around me, but it also makes me feel cute. And when you feel cute, you feel better. You can channel the different moods you want with different colors.”

Feel like changing your frame of mind for the better? Play around with these colors when picking out your clothes, makeup and accessories:

Seeing Red
Red is the hot, crazy girl of colors, evoking powerful emotions such as fear, anger and passion. "Red would be one of the most complicated colors," says Harrington. Unlike, say, yellow, which is sunny whether it’s a pale or bright version of the shade, the mood red conveys changes dramatically when you lighten it (sweet and innocent pink) or darken it (sophisticated burgundy).

Although research shows that the best way for a single gal to attract a guy’s attention is to wear red, you may be garnering attention you don’t necessarily want. "There’s a reason they call it the red light district," notes Harrington. Adds Andrew Elliot, Ph.D., professor of psychology at the University of Rochester: "We link red to passion because red is the color we exhibit on our skin when sexually interested -- a red flush or blush."

Rather than having your outfit scream "sex kitten" (unless that’s what you’re going for), the best way to rock this passion-producing color and get into a sexier frame of mind is by carrying a red clutch, donning a bright red polish on your nails (try Essie Well Red) or lining your lips in the right red. "Red lips can be your best accessory, especially if you’re wearing all black," says Harrington. "You have to be confident to do it and have the right shade of red for your skintone."

A Calming Case of the Blues
Need to chill out after a stressful day? Slip on something blue. "Psychologically, blue is the opposite of red -- it lowers blood pressure," says Harrington. "Red picks you up and blue takes you down, but not down to depression level." That may be because if you look to nature, such as the sky and the ocean, blue conveys tranquility. That’s also what you project when wearing the shade. "I encourage women to wear blue when they want to create a calming essence," says Mai. "Wear it on a first date -- something turquoise or a light aqua sweater with a soft texture like cashmere. It makes a great a first impression and creates relaxation."

Another beneficial time to make blue your go-to hue? If you’re going for a job interview or meeting your partner’s parents for the first time. "Blue is associated with trustworthiness, strength and dependability -- hence, the blue power suit because it projects that image of dependability and trustworthiness," says Harrington.

It’s Easy Being Green
From grass to leaves to other verdant vegetation, the color green is closely linked to the environment, which can put you in a relaxed or refreshed mood. "There is some tentative evidence emerging in the literature showing that green is relaxing because it is associated with growth and nature," says Elliot. Green also looks good on every skin type and has a wide range of shades that allow you to modify your mood -- from serious and sophisticated to fresh and bright.

"Green ranges from old traditional English libraries in a dark hunter green where you can sit down, concentrate and read to a spring-like yellow-based green, which symbolizes new birth or new growth -- the beginning of something," explains Harrington.

Anything-But-Mellow Yellow
Yellow carries both positive and negative connotations -- from sunshine, which conveys a joyous, happy mood to jaundice and sickliness, according to Harrington. In Mai’s experience, wearing the bright, fun color helped her stand out and put people at ease. "Wearing yellow creates a very open atmosphere with people," she says. "When I was a reporter on Extra, if I was going to meet a celebrity who was a bit standoffish I found that wearing yellow would bring a smile to their demeanor right away. It’s an inviting color."

That said, going overkill on yellow can leave you looking like a walking banana so Harrington recommends investing in yellow accessories instead to give you that same uplifting boost, such as a bright yellow clutch, scarf or even a pale yellow blouse under a sweater or suit. But keep in mind that not everyone can pull off this bright shade. “Skin with yellow undertones have a hard time with the color,” says Harrington, “and blue undertones can only wear certain shades of yellow so it’s hard to find the shade that looks good on, compared to navy, which anyone can wear.”

Orange You Glad You Wore It
This highly popular color marries the sunniness of yellow with red’s depth. In fact, orange is the perfect substitute if you’re not comfortable seeing red. But the color is by no means ho-hum -- orange evokes action. "Orange is much more of a casual, active color—it’s big in active wear—whereas red is much more sophisticated," explains Harrington. The perky shade is your best bet when you want to rev yourself up so you can hit the gym or channel creativity for a work project. "Orange is said to stimulate enthusiasm and creativity," says Mai. "It symbolizes vitality and endurance."

It’s also the color to choose when you want to stand out without taking a big risk. That’s because orange is considered a little edgy without be too "out there." "If you’re going to buy a pocketbook and it comes in red, orange and yellow, yellow will be the biggest statement while almost everyone has a red bag," says Harrington. "Orange is in the middle. It says, ‘have a little more fun and be a little different but not too different. Because of that, you see a lot more orange colors showing up in cosmetics."

The rich color is associated with royalty and luxury, according to Mai. "Anytime you need to feel confident and regal, such as for a job interview, wear purple," she says. If you have a young-looking face and want to appear more sophisticated, make purple your go-to color to help you look more mature, suggests Mai.

Back in Black
Having a “fat day”? Slipping into something black makes you look five pounds slimmer -- instantly improving your mood. "We all know what happens when you put on black jeans versus white jeans -- it’s slimming," says Harrington. But the darkest shade of all can affect how you feel in two other distinctly different ways: Wearing black can be a downer (think funerals) or make you feel trés chic (think Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”). Although in old movies, the villain always wore black, over the years the color has become more associated with high class -- black limousines, patent leather shoes and elegant black tie affairs, according to Harrington.

Black is clearly the go-to color when you want to look more regal and formal. "It can be very elegant"” says Mai. “Every woman needs an LBD. It plays everything else down so you stand out. It lets you shine.”

Nissan unveils 'self-healing' iPhone case

Nissan unveils 'self-healing' iPhone case
Magic auto paint vanquishes scratched shiny-shiny

Japanese automaker Nissan's European arm is migrating the company's "pioneering self-healing paint" to the world of pocketable shiny-shiny, introducing an iPhone case that removes its own scratches with nary a buff nor a polish.

"The Scratch Shield iPhone case is a great example of us taking a Nissan automotive technology that has had a huge impact for our customers, and then shifting the boundaries to apply it to another everyday product," said European bizdev honcho Bob Laishley in a statement announcing this world-changing development.

The Scratch Shield paint, used now on the Nissan Murano, 370Z, X-Trail, and Infiniti, employs a gel-like polyrotaxane coating on an ABS-plastic case. The coating – in addition to being more grippable than slippery paint, has the ability to grow back into a scratch, thus "healing" the blemish.

The healing process, Nissan says, can take as little as an hour for small scratches, although what it calls "more severe cases" can take up to a week to mend – not unlike human skin.

The European Scratch Shield iPhone case is merely a prototype designed to gauge interest, but Nissan is also working with Japanese telecom giant NTT DoCoMo to add the self-healing tech to that company's Style Series N-03B handsets.

Thanks to the combined work of Nissan, the University of Tokyo, and the Japanese company Advanced Softmaterials, one of the banes of modern living – embarrassingly scuffed smartphone cases – has been vanquished.

30 Interesting Facts About Marijuana

1. Marijuana is created from the dried, shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant Cannabis sativa.

2. Marijuana is the most common illegal drug used in the United States. Approximately 100 million Americans have tried marijuana at least once, and more than 25 million have smoked it in the last year.

3. According to one national survey on drug use, each day approximately 6,000 Americans try marijuana for the first time.

4. Worldwide, it is estimated that about 162 million adults use marijuana at least once per year, and 22.5 million use the drug daily.

5. After alcohol, marijuana is the most popular recreational or mood-altering drug used worldwide.

6. Just under 40% of high school students in the U.S. report using marijuana at least once in their life, and 20% report using it regularly.

7. According to one report, it would take 800 joints to kill a person—but the cause of death would be carbon monoxide poisoning.

8. There are over 200 slang terms for marijuana in the popular vernacular. Some of the more common nicknames include pot, grass, weed, hash, and ganja.

9. The international and scientific name for marijuana is cannabis. However, the substance is most commonly called marijuana within the United States

10. The name marijuana comes from a Mexican slang term for cannabis and is believed to have derived from the Spanish pronunciation of the names Mary and Jane. (The two names were also common Mexican military slang for a prostitute or brothel.) Marijuana came into popularity as a name for cannabis in the U.S. during the late 1800s.

11. The cannabis plant can grow in nearly any environment and averages one to two inches of growth per day and up to 18 feet total in ideal conditions.

12. The primary active ingredient in marijuana is THC (delta 9 tetrhydrocannabinol). It is this chemical that produces marijuana’s mind-altering effects.

13. The psychoactive side effects of THC in small doses include loss of inhibition, elation, and a distorted sense of time. The drug can also cause increased visual sensitivity and heightened imagination.

14. Depending upon the weather conditions, soil type, and time of harvest for a cannabis plant, as well as the specific mixture of dried leaves and flowers in the marijuana product, a sample of marijuana can contain anywhere from 3% to 20% THC

15. Cannabis seeds were used as a food source in China as early as 6000 B.C.

16. The first recorded use of marijuana as a medicinal drug occurred in 2737 B.C. by Chinese emperor Shen Nung. The emperor documented the drug’s effectiveness in treating the pains of rheumatism and gout.

17. The first law in the American colonies regarding marijuana was a 1619 law that actually required farmers to grow the hemp plant. Once harvested, hemp was useful for clothing, sails, and rope.

18. During the temperance movement of the 1890s, marijuana was commonly recommended as a substitute for alcohol. The reason for this was that use of marijuana did not lead to domestic violence while alcohol abuse did.

19. Marijuana was first severely restricted as a recreational and medicinal drug in the U.S. by the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937. The law did not prohibit marijuana use but imposed such a heavy tax that legal sale and use became nearly impossible.

20. In October of 1937, Samuel Caldwell was the first U.S. citizen arrested under the Marihuana Tax Act for selling marijuana without paying the newly mandated tax. He was fined $1,000 and sentenced to four years of hard labor in Leavenworth.

21. Prior to its ban, hemp was a staple cash crop of the family farm in early America. The first two drafts of the United States Declaration of Independence were written on paper made from hemp.

22. The Controlled Substances Act of 1970 made it illegal to possess, use, buy, sell, or cultivate marijuana in the United States. The law classifies marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug, meaning it has a high potential for abuse and no acceptable medical use

23. Marijuana production and trafficking make up the world’s largest drug market and the substance can be grown in almost every country. The United Nations Office on Drug and Crimes (UNODC) has data on 172 countries and territories known to grow marijuana.

24. Paraguay is believed to be the world’s largest producer of marijuana.

25. According to the UNODC, there are several countries worldwide where greater than 8% of the population are said to use marijuana. Among those countries are the United States, Canada, England, Spain, France, South Africa, and New Zealand.

26. In 2007, nearly 900,000 arrests for marijuana violations were made in the United States. Approximately 90% of offenders charged with marijuana-related crimes were arrested for possession only.

27. From 1850 to 1942, marijuana was listed in the United States Pharmacopoeia as a useful medicine for nausea, rheumatism, and labor pains and was easily obtained at the local general store or pharmacy

28. Current supporters of medical marijuana believe the drug has significant medical value for patients who suffer from AIDS, glaucoma, cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and chronic pain. Several studies have been published to support and document this belief.

29. In 2003, Canada became the first country in the world to offer medical marijuana to pain-suffering patients.

30. In 1996, California became the first U.S. state to legally allow medical marijuana for patients with a valid doctor’s recommendation.

Bonus - Just 1 day ago Colorado & Washinton Legalized Marijuana for Recreation use.

Only 7 Countries in the world hangs a person for Cannabis and they are Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China & Saudi Arabia.

Cannabis is not Legal in Holland but Decriminalized.

Things you may not know about Singapore

Things you may not know about Singapore

Singapore is home to the world's biggest bat.
The flying fox lives on Pulau Ubin.

The national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim, is named after Agnes Joaquim, or Ashken Hovakimian, an Armenian.
Armenians were prominent in early Singapore - the oldest church is the Armenian Church (1835), and very Singaporean institutions like the Raffles Hotel and The Straits Times were founded by Armenians.

Singapore is a stopover point for thousands of migratory birds travelling the East Asian Flyway.

The first population census taken in 1824 revealed that the total population was 10,683. The 2000 census showed that the population of Singapore is 4.2 million.

The most common Chinese surnames in Singapore are Tan, Lim and Lee.

Greek astronomer, Claudius Ptolemaeus, named a place called Sabana in 2nd century, in the area where Singapore lies. He identified Sabana as a nominon emporion or designated foreign trading port, as part of a chain of similar trading centres that linked Southeast Asia with India and the Mediterranean. 3rd century Chinese written record described the island of Púluōzhōng (蒲羅中), probably a transliteration of the Malay Pulau Ujong, "island at the end" (of the Malay peninsula). This island is thought to be Singapore and this name is one of the earliest references to Singapore.

The lowest temperature ever recorded in Singapore is 19.4°C. It has been recorded in 1934!

SINGAPORE - A baby-mix-up took place at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) on Sunday, where two new-born babies were erroneously discharged to different mothers.

The hospital said in a statement today that the babies have been reunited with their biological parents.

It said that the incident came to light when one of the parents noticed that the baby taken home wore an identification tag belonging to another mother. The hospital then carried out investigations to identify the mothers and babies.

"The hospital deeply regrets this error... Both babies are well and with their respective mothers, who have been offered counselling from the hospital," the hospital said.

Investigations are underway to determine how the error occurred. "The hospital takes a very serious view of it. A full review is being carried out and the Ministry of Health (MOH) has been informed", the hospital said. "KKH unreservedly apologises to the parents for this error and will take all steps to prevent any recurrence."

The MOH said in a statment: "We are sorry for the anxiety and stress caused to the parents of the newborns due to the unfortunate incident.

"MOH will work together with KKH to extend all necessary support to the two families. We will also be working with the hospital in their investigations and will review their processes to prevent any recurrence," said the ministry.

Hougang United want to sign Maradona as coach

Dream signings for the S-League in 2013

Diego Maradona, former coach of UAE's Al-Wasl club, may find better luck in Singapore. (Getty Images)

COMMENT
In my previous piece, I noted the immense impact ex-Spanish international Daniel Guiza is likely to have on the Malaysian Super League next season.
The question of whether any S-League club would be able to pull off such a signing was raised and met with considerable response from readers.
It's clear that without external help, S-League clubs will never be able to sign marquee players.
This kind of financial support, if it comes, will either come from an astronomical increase in funding from the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) or from a unprecedented level of corporate sponsorship.
For the moment, let's put aside this mental barrier of money and dream about the possible transfers which we may see for the 2013 season.

Craig Gordon (Scotland) to Tampines Rovers
Tampines was the only local club to play a foreign player in the goalkeeper position in 2012 and imagine if they can secure the services of ex-Sunderland custodian Craig Gordon. Just five years ago, Gordon was the most expensive British goalkeeper at £9 million but his stock has sharply plummeted in the past few years.
Still only 29, what Gordon need may be a new environment and a club to find him find his footing. With 40 Scotland caps, he is already an established international but he needs to perform regularly again to slowly make his way back to his national team.
Also, he will not find it difficult to settle in Singapore, where English is the official language and there is a huge pool of British expatriates.

Lee Chun Soo (Korea) to Balestier Khalsa
Fans who followed South Korea's magical journey to the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup may remember the then 21-year-old Lee Chun-Soo, who was a crucial team member as Korea finished fourth.
Lee went to Europe after that World Cup, but failed to settle after several unsuccessful spells in Spain and Holland.
In 2009, he eventually ended joined Saudi side Al-Nassr, before being shipped out again a year later to Omiya Ardija in the J-League. That was his last professional club.
At 31, Lee may still have a couple of years of football left in him and perhaps joining a club like Balestier Khalsa may rejuvenate him.
The Toa Payoh outfit already has two Koreans on their books for 2012 and if they add Lee to that, may just be able to create a commercial franchise capitalising on the local fascination with K-pop culture.

Tal Ben Haim (Israel) to Geylang United
Local fans will no doubt be familiar with Israeli international Tal Ben Haim, who played in the Premier League with five different clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City.
The 30-year-old defender last played for the now-bankrupt Portsmouth, which he left this summer on somewhat acrimonious terms over his unpaid wages.
Bel Haim can a worthwhile signing for Geylang United, a side that shipped 50 goals over the course of the last season — the most in the S-League.
A handful of legendary local defenders in the likes of Lim Tong Hai, Aide Iskandar and Baihakki Khaizan all used to don the green of Geylang — Ben Haim can possibly join them in the Eagles' Hall of Fame.
Currently the Bedok outfit do not lack firepower upfront, but have often been undone by a leaky backline in 2012.
With his experience, Ben Haim can shape up the Eagles' defence and draw the crowd back to the Bedok Stadium.

John Carew (Norway) to Home United
S-League's top scorer of 2012, Frederic Mendy, has expressed his interest to leave the club to pursue some opportunities in Europe.
As a replacement, Home United may consider the services of ex-Premier League striker John Carew.
The 1.97m striker has already enjoyed a very successful career in Europe, scoring over 150 goals in different top flight clubs across six different countries. He left West Ham United this summer after failing to secure a contract extension.
Now at 33, he may relish an entirely new challenge here in Singapore.
It is interesting to note that his height, he is 5cm taller than Aleksandar Đurić and Mendy, so centre-backs in the S-League can expect tough outings against the Norwegian, should he decided to make Singapore his next port of call.

Diego Maradona (Argentina) to Hougang United
There are reports linking current Hougang United coach Nenad Bacina to the vacant job at Tampines Rovers.
Should Bacina make the move, perhaps the Cheetahs can consider a certain Diego Maradona for the hot seat at Hougang.
For a player of Maradona's calibre, his managerial career has anything but glittering.
Brief stints with Argentina and Dubai side AL Wasl FC have not managed to establish his reputation as a manager so perhaps Hougang can provide a place for him to work on his credentials.
Hougang has slowly but surely earned a reputation as a club that has dared to be different.
Their ultra passionate fans have formed a cult following for the North-Eastern side, in an area which is the bedrock of opposition support in local politics.
The comparison may be far-fetched, but this setting is somewhat similar to Naples in the late 1980s, the Italian city where Maradona still remain very much a legend.
The outspoken Maradona will relish the role of a pantomime villain and will instantly endear himself to the Hougang faithful.

Damon Yeo was a barely a teen when Singapore won the double in Malaysia back in 1994 but has not stopped supporting the national team and the S-League since.
