Hi All,

I am interested in getting a 2012 W204 Mercedes C180 for my brother. It is a facelifted model with Mercedes Malaysia warranty still available until 2016. I tried searching the forums here for info but can't really find much user reviews. Would appreciate if anybody who owns it or knows someone who owns it can let me know the following:

1. Common known problems
2. Reliability compared to Audi A4 and BMW 320i
3. Estimated maintenance cost
4. Any fuel consumption issues?
5. NVH

Thanks!

Buying & Selling Physical Gold

Hi,

Really hope for some good advice from knowledgable folks in this topic.

1. Can physical gold be bought and sold over the counter from Banks like Public Banks and Maybank? Do we need identification like Mykad or a bank account to purchase them?
2. Does the gold purchased in the forms of coins and bars marked with serial numbers for tracking or just have an emblem from which bank it is manufactured?

I was thinking of using gold as a form of accepting/making payments for my clients and would like to study the possibilities since this has been done before with the likes of e-Gold.

Would love to hear inputs from everyone.

Thanks!

Need Recomendation for Graphic Card

Hi to all Gurus!

I have a friend who has a rather odd custom setup. This is his specs:

Intel Dual Core E6500 2.93Ghz
2.5 GB RAM
ATI Radeon X300

Recently he just bought a 23" LCD which runs on a DVI and his old 17" runs on the VGA. When he plays AVI or MKVs in DVD and 720p formats, the video has a lot of lag. Of course, its obvious the graphic card is the problem here. He plays Sudden Attack and some RPGs nothing high end. Is there any recommendation from what PCdepot is selling here: http://www.pcdepot.com.my/category/51/230/...hic%20Card.aspx

He just needs to maintain VGA and DVI support but the budget is around RM 300.

Thanks to all your response before hand!

Lost/Stolen Iphone can be found?

Hi Everyone,

My friend's Iphone got stolen. She has installed Find Iphone but the the app shows the phone is turned off. I think the thief must have even removed the SIM card or even reset the entire phone. So far all she has done is called up Maxis to bar the line and get a replacement. However, I am trying to see if more can be done.

I called up Maxis and the CS told me that we should report to Police and they will liaise with Maxis. Apparently, Maxis even have a "Forensic Department". However, the CS can't guarantee the Iphone can be found even after making the police report. It sounds very CIA-like but I guess it is possible since the thief can use a new SIM and the person can be identified through the number ownership but has it ever been done before?

I even asked if they can block the IMEI number which they say is impossible. I thought phones years back can be locked based on the network. ie. blocked on Maxis but can be used on Celcom. Maybe can consider blocking on all telcos?

Anyone has any success getting Telcos or Police in tracking down their lost/stolen phone would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Property Value Information

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering among all of you property investors out there, do you happen to use a property value guide? It is some sort of catalogue of information which details the sales and purchases history of an area for the past few years to recent. If you are, is there any way to acquire it? I am looking to invest heavily and would think this data would help in making the right decision rather than following the typical methods of hunting for under valued properties.

Thanks muchly!

Pleasing my GF's mother...

Hi Everyone,

This is a continuation from my last issue: Last Post

Promise I will be short this time.

All of you who have read through my story would know that I am stuck trying to get into my GF's mother's good books. So, for the last month, I tried everything I could to make her like me but it wasn't an easy one. Anyway, her dad is now well pleased with me due to the fact I gave his company a huge contract that was kind of a life saver for him since business wasn't go so well in the engineering trade. So that kinda sealed me in for good with him.

But my GF's mother... I tried so many ways but she didn't even want to talk to me. It was only a few weeks back she injured herself and had to be admitted to the hospital. I saw this as an opportunity to appear more often since she doesn't have anywhere to run. So, for practically every day, I would visit her with fresh flowers to put at her bedside, have my maid cook the best birds nest I own, fruits, etc and practically just sat there and talk and talk and talk. Well, it was just me talking most of the time. During the first 2 days, she always frowned when she saw me and even practically told me NOT to come again the next day. But of course I still dropped by anyway, so she kind of gave up telling me off. By the 2nd week she was supposed to be discharged, she actually asked me to take her home since her husband was busy with work. That was a positive sign that she is starting to accept me. I was happy when she actually smiled and said thanks for visiting her so often when I left. Now both me and my GF can sigh a bit of relief.

It was not long after that she called me one day to attend her company's dinner. Apparently, she was supposed to bring her whole family but my GF had to attend a wedding and her dad had a business dinner. So since I knew some of her directors, she thought it would be fun to get me to attend instead. So I was kind of her date for the evening. After the dinner we actually spent time at the hotel's bar and had a chat. It was definitely the alcohol because she she started telling me how she really was happy I spent so much time visiting her eventhough she was being mean to me all these while. Bingo!

Apparently, my GF's dad didn't even visit her at all. Ever since he started his business, he never spent time with her anymore. Which is why she got back to corporate life again. What came out from her mouth next was the shocker. She then started to describe how he's never 'intimate' with her anymore. They both practically just got home late and too tired to even have sex. She even asked the embarrassing questions of whether I like her daughter just because of her body, etc. She started tearing up. I hate it when girls cry.

So being me, of course I had to console her. No wonder she was always being so uptight with everyone. A pity too. At around 45 years old, she looks at least 10-15 years younger with the same good looking features of my GF with no hint of fat on her at all. She does spend a lot of money on herself on taking care of her looks.

Anyhow, I managed to cheer her up and drive her home. Before she got out, she kissed me... It wasn't an innocent kiss. She then asked me to come into her house and emphasized nobody's home and she could use the company. I was shocked. I blubbered some excuse saying its kind of late and I need to go home since I had a board meeting early next morning and just declined.

Oh my god, my GF's mom just made a pass at me. When I got home and my GF called to say she was happy to see how things were working out in making her mom like me. Little did she know how much... I couldn't tell her what just happened. Did you guys think I should? Wouldn't I be seen as the one taking advantage of a drunk woman? Would she even believe me? Damn....

The next few days passed and her mom finally SMS me to ask me out for dinner again. I didn't replied. Now, Im trying to make as though I am busy or with my GF most of the time. Should I just go out and straighten things out with her? I don't even know how to start the conversation... Need help

A relationship is as good as you grow it

Hi Everyone,

I can see that a lot of relationship problems happening around these days and thought how I want to share my story from the beginning.

Been with my GF now for 8 years since she was in college. Back then I had nothing but just a good mouth to convince her for a chance. Honestly, I was a slacker then. Had no job for a year before I met her and not even a car or even money and was even fat . Hmmm...wouldn't think I would want myself now looking back. I guess a relationship truly changes someone. The night after she accepted me, I had to start my "transformation plan":

Chapter 1: How to pick up my life and be better/decent/acceptable?
So, first things first. Had to look for a job. I was only 21 then, so I didn't mind working in fast food just as long as I can afford to take her to a movie and a nice restaurant. I think most guys can understand how painful it is to can't even afford to do that to the person you really love. As reality steps in, I couldn't find a job for at least 3 months. Not good... She was starting to get annoyed as she is the one to pay for food and drive us around. Can't blame her as she might be cursing herself for making a dumb choice.

I was about to give up and tell her to find someone else until luck came. I managed to land myself a job in a firm as a junior staff. From RM 0 > RM 1,200 , it was a great start. At least now we have something to smile about and weekends were more fun when you have some money to spend. Life was good but it could have been better. I mean who am I kidding? RM 1,200 is a joke if you want to plan to have fun and even be presentable. I was still borderline low income earner. Could only afford a Kancil (which I didn't get due to stubburnness)...

Then comes the peer pressure. Her friends would be comparing BF's car's, salaries's, etc. So guess who came at the bottom again? The new problem now is, I don't make enough money. Which is also the same reason why she can't tell her family about me which they would reject it. Coming from a poor family as well, I had nothing much to offer and hers was much well off than mine. Her father has an established business and her mother is some high ranking company manager. The differences was just too great.

So thinking to myself, if she is worth it then I should do my best.....and I did think she is. Beautiful, smart, (fill in the lines here for the perfect girl specs, guys). Plans for the next operation starts....

To be continued...

Desktop not Booting Up

Just wanna ask all the sifus here for some opinions.

My desktop just wouldn't startup this morning. The CPU lights all turns on, including the fans and drives but my monitor is not receiving any signal. At first I thought it was my processor fan causing overheating issue as it was getting loose. So I went to buy a new one to replace but still the same issue. I somehow think the motherboard is the problem. It doesn't even give a "beep" sound when I do all the following:

- Remove all RAM stick and startup
- Remove AGP and switch VGA cable to on-board graphics port
- Remove motherboard battery

My motherboard is an websiteAsus P5GC-MX 1333. Now I am wondering if it even has a speaker to make the beeping sound or have they outphased that function already? Lol.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Need Recommendations for Light and Powerful Laptop

Thanks to everyone time to view this.

I need help for recommending a proper laptop for my use. My profile is as follows:

Purpose: Work and Entertainment
Lifestyle: I travel a lot and need something light and powerful with good battery life
Main Usage: Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Internet Browsing, Presentations with Projector
Hope to Use: Photoshop, Photo Compression Software
Games that I wish to play: Sudden Attack, God of War, Age of Empires, mostly FPS or RPGs with nothing too high end.

Currently Using: Acer Aspire One D255

The Acer Aspire One was purchased a few months ago when my Compaq gave up its life. After a few months of using it, I don't have much to complain. I love it for its long battery life of 6 hours of heavy use. Bad thing about it is eventhough it is Dual Core and can handle plenty of slides in Powerpoint, it just isn't strong enough to handle Photoshop. Also, the screen size is a bit small at 10.1". I would have preferred at least 12-13" without being too heavy.

What I have in mind:
- Toshiba R700 (good processor but no dedicated graphics)
- Asus Lamborghini VX6 (Nvidia Ion but still atom processor)

Budget: I think RM 5,000 should be enough? If not can be increased.

Thanks everyone!
