About Tripod in Hand-Carry Baggage

I normally travel on Airasia or MAS locally.
Previously, I used to hand-carry my tripod as third baggage on-board until last year.

Last year, the airport people told me that I cannot carry a solid stick object such as folded tripod because 'it is a weapon' (yup, they said it)
Ever since last year, I have been checking in my tripod as fragile object when travelling because it was a spare cheap tripod and I am very lazy to argue with them every time.

I will invest in a travel tripod soon to replace that spare tripod, which can be shortened to maximum 40cm when closed.
I want to ask if any sifu travel with travel tripod carried inside their hand-carry baggage. I am afraid that they will say it is a weapon again.

Yongnuo RF-603 II (Nikon) & Nikon BS-1 cover

I currently own a Yongnuo RF-603 II Nikon model and I'm looking for a hotshoe cap to fit its top hotshoe slot.
My system is Sony with Multi-Interface hotshoe. My Multi-Interface hotshoe cover can only fit about 90% of the top cover as shown in the image I uploaded.

Is there any Nikon user who has both RF-603 II Nikon model and BS-1 hotshoe cover (for standard Nikon DSLR models) who can test out for me whether BS-1 fits perfectly on top of RF-603 II Nikon?

Budget Torchlight / Headlight Suggestion

Milky way shooting season is coming soon and I want to get myself a decent budget torchlight / headlight to assist in my oncoming shooting.
My budget is under RM100 and currently considering the torch / headlights offered by Energiser or some battery companies.

Anyone using those budget torch / headlights mind giving comment on their capability?

Imaging Pre-Installed W8

I have pre-installed W8 on my notebook but I want to wipe it clean and install W7.
However, I paid the price that included the W8 license when buying the laptop and I don't feel like losing that license.

So, should I image all the partitions (include recovery, bla-bla) to a external drive like external HDD?
(since USB doesn't work I heard)

How should I image them including the license?

Fungus or dust spot?

Recently I realised that my photos on small apertures yield this spot in the image (top right). Starting f/22 and it is visible.

I cleaned the lens front and rear elements (blower and lens pen) properly, as well as the sensor (blower), but the spot still remains.

So it makes me wonder if it is fungus, although I do not see anything through the front element.

About MAS Airline Transit procedure

This is my first thing taking MAS airline transit, and I wish to know the detailed procedure.

I am going to fly from A to B, then B to C tonight. I bought transit ticket. I will be staying at B for an hour before departing to C.

In the case that I have checked-in luggage, do I get the luggage at B then check in luggage again? Or they will transit my luggage automatically?

How does it work? Set up APN and then turn Mobile Data Network on?

If the phone only accept micro-SIM, does cutting the Maxis Wireless Broadband SIM affect anything?

Need Clarification about Tamron VC & Sony A-mount

I am aware that Tamron does not offer VC feature to Sony A-mount, however the VC lenses (Nikon/Canon) such as 18-270mm has the same price as non-VC lenses (Sony).

I need clarification from fellow experienced users (especially Sony + Tamron) that Sony does not need any VC on lenses right? That means Sony users can safely buy non-VC lenses without the need to worry of blurring because Sony has built-in image stabiliser, right?

I am a new DSLR user and will be getting a telephoto within 1 year.
However, I am thinking to trade in my current kit lens then add some more to get a Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5~6.3. So far the reviews I read about Tamron 18-200mm is ok.

So I am seeking for professional ideas whether it is a good choice to trade some minimum aperture (f/6.3 instead of 5.6) for a cheaper, more convenient Tamron 18-200mm.

1) Is there any website or tool to check laptop RAM compatibility?
I heard some two different laptop RAMs doesn't work well when paired up.
I am looking for 100% effectiveness+compatible.

I'm currently on tight budget to buy a new laptop.
Currently Asus A550CC-XX309 is on my backup list in case the model I want (i5-3230M+GT 635M 2GB) is out of stock.
A550CC-XX309 comes with i3-3217U and GT 720M 2GB.

Is this combination strong enough to run Photoshop smoothly?
How about games like L4D2 and Fallout 3 + New Vegas in high settings?

AMD A6/8/10 or Intel i5

EDIT: I switched my question upon confirming that I need i5 mobile processor than i5 ULV.
Now I have another question, AMD A6/8/10 or Intel i5-3210/30M suits me more based on the following statements?

My usage:
-assignment
-office
-Photoshop / render (little 3D)
-watching movie
-game (L4D2, Fallout 3 + New Vegas, 2D mmorpg)

My preference (in priority)
-smooth system (will be upgrading to 8gb ram)
-spikeless gameplay in games mentioned (Max graphics)

Intel U Processor & Gaming

I am looking for a laptop that has aluminium cover and keyboard area, with Intel M processor+GT 640M (at least)
However, these features are mostly available on ultrabook that has Intel U processor+GT 740M inside.

I will be using that laptop for university assignments and gaming (L4D2, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, 2D MMORPG and so on), just those not very demanding new games / intensive 3D.

So is Intel U processor+ GT 740M performing equivalent performance in these games compared to Intel M processor+GT 640M? Will I be expecting spikes (graphics pixel, fps...)? Provided I am upgrading to 8GB RAM.

About Lenovo's One Key Rescue

For a newly bought Lenovo laptop, is it advisable for me to reset the system to initial system (factory) via One Key?
(Some resellers installed additional stuff into it / leave cache, happened at my workplace)
Does One Key reset the existing account too?

Should I also create recovery discs? How many CD / DVD do I need? How long does it take?

Hope some Lenovo users and sifus can guide me out.
