Hi, I just got an AP SE w890i phone. When i insert my SIM card and ON the phone. The system will first run an initial setup, automatically. It ask me whether i wan to register with Sony, then it will return me with a sms.

Since my one is an AP set, should i or should i not register? What good to register and does it lock my phone if it found out its serial number is not from authorised dealer?

Thanks,

Working in a comfort zone

Have anyone work in a company that want to leave yet cant? Comfort zone, usually this implies having decent work-mates, nice office, no politic and location and of course, good pay or other means that you are unwilling to leave a company.

I think i'm kinda in that zone. I'm staying bcoz...
1) Professional n friendly work-mate (although not everyone). I have been building up good relationship with colleagues across all the department in the company, which is good when you have something urgent need to get it done fast. Don't think can achieve this in other company.
2) Office near my house. This IT firm do not locate in cyberjaya, KL or PJ, but near my place. No toll, no parking fee, no traffic jam. Where can you get one like this?
3) Good pay. Working on contract, that why the salary is high. In addition, i've been offered share option. Share option to a contract stuff? So, it's like guarantee of job security although is on contract. Can't get back this kind of salary outside, with this kind of experience and knowledge. Unless work in singapore.
4) Challenging job scope, which surpurise me sometime. Once overcome it, there's satisfaction. BTW, this IT firm have a lot of pioneer practice which outside common practice. So, dun really think can apply the experience gained here in other firm, 100%. Eg. We do use UML as communication channel and in our documantation (newly introduce one, previously use contxt diagram only). But we only adopt few of the diagram and it's been used without standard. So, no one to tell us the diagram drawn in a correct way or not. It is deem correct as long as the technical people understand what we're going to deliver.
5) No office politics, as long as you are not the loudest, then you are safe. (well, atleast i'm under the radar of destructive weapon. )
6) Learning new stuff. (Eg. business background person learn to read & configure the developing-application with xsd, srd, xml files)

Money is the main factor that retain me here. Working with this company no more than 2 years, and i already got 2 times of increment, plus one time of offer share option, which can only realise when the company is sell-off. (Junk paper, i think it is.)

Secondly, i afraid i might lost the chance to learn new thing that is coming. Like i'm now learn to use informaker to draw gui. For one that do not have IT background, i really appreciate this. (But i dun think is useful in other company anyway.)

Thirdly, career prospect. I'm not learning something that is directly benefit to my current career path. In fact, i'm not fully practicing what my profession should be. In the eye of oursider...

ps: I was previously in accounting, but now in system design (to be accurate, application design). Playing major role in defining business process.

So, how you guys overcome this kind of feeling? A comfort zone, isn't this is the company you looking for, for retirement? haha....
