Buy altis, then demand Camry as compensation

ANDREW of Sentul feels uncomfortable sitting in his new Toyota Altis and wants a Camry in return.

"I bought the Altis on July 9, confident that the car would perform well and suit me comfortably. Due to the electronic mechanism for the seat, I am unable to push it back sufficiently to fit my legs well. I am a six-footer and kidney donor, and the cramped seat is discomforting to me, especially during long trips."

ANDREW says his job entails a lot of travel and he faces severe backaches and spinal pain after a prolonged time in the car.

"I contacted Toyota's customer service on July 12 about it but they could not help. They told me there was nothing that they could do about the limited leg room," he says, adding he tried contacting UMW Toyota Motor's general manager and their executive director, but to no avail.

"On July 12, the salesperson who sold me the Altis informed me that Toyota was looking for a settlement.

"I want Toyota to replace my driver's seat either with an improved electronic seat or a manual one. As a last resort, I want Toyota to give me a new Camry in return at the same price as my month-old Altis."

ANDREW says UMW Toyota's assistant manager of customer relations told him the manually adjusted seats were shorter than the electronic ones.

"On Aug 12, the assistant manager told me there was no solution to the problem, so he arranged a technical briefing for me on the electronic seat," he says.

"I requested a high-ranking Japanese official from UMW Toyota to attend the meeting and listen to my problems. But at the meeting on Aug 17, those present were only executives from UMW Toyota's technical, after-sales service and sales departments."

● A SPOKESMAN for UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd says they are looking for the best settlement with ANDREW.

"As part of customer satisfaction, we will always listen to our customers. We would like to meet up with ANDREW again to discuss further what the best option is."

When contacted by Hotline, ANDREW says he is considering taking legal action.

I came across the ad on the star this morning....www.selfsat.com.my....they finally brought in satellite receivers for automobiles in malaysia....I contacted the dealers and the price is a cool RM2990.....basically, u just need an astro decoder and fix it in the car.

Help needed with Toyota Navigation Double DIN

Hi, I just got a recon car which comes with a Toyota DVD player model NDCN-W55. The problem is that it asks for the "Please insert correct map disk". Can anyone help because I can only use the radio and CD player only....

Selling your car personally

This is a guide for you people who wants to sell your car personally instead of trade-in/sell to second hand dealer.

1. Firstly, check with your bank on the remaining balance of your loan. Remember, if your loan amount is higher than the car selling price, you might need to settle the balance before proceeding.

For eg. Your car 2nd hand value = RM60000. Loan balance RM50000. Then after deducting all their fees, u might get back less than RM10k.

If your car 2nd hand value =RM60000. Loan balance RM65000. Then u still have to pay more than 5k including their fees before u can sell of
the car.

2. Once u know ur loan balance, proceed to obtain registration card. Those who have been paying consistently for 1 years without late will easily get it with a batal hakmilik on it so that the vehicle is still under Hire Purchase.

3. As you know, people will always ask how high loan can go, how many years and interest rate. Just ask your loan officer for a ballpark figure.

4. Once all this is done, proceed to advertise your vehicle and wait for the potential buyers to come in. Don't reserve the vehicle for anyone. 2nd hand salesman usually say don't sell, reserve for me and all sorts of crap to prevent you from selling. What they try to do is to wear you down mentally and thus the used car people can buy from you at a much lower price.

5. Genuine sellers will come immediately to see the vehicle. Arrange to meet them at some bright/public area and don't go alone. Many cars are stolen during viewing sessions. Never give them the car with the engine still running. Genuine sellers must pay at least RM500 deposit in cash to book
your car.

6. Once you have a gentlemans agreement, provide a copy of your photostat I/C and car registration card and give the buyer 1 week to prepare his financial arrangements. Best buyers pay in cold hard cash/bank draft instantly. This is especially true for cars older than 10 years old.

If the buyer requires financing, wait for him to get his Letter of Undertaking. Once his loan amount is known, calculate the balance payable to you.

For eg. Agreed selling price RM60000. His loan RM50000. Pay a balance of RM10000-(RM500 deposit already collected) = RM9500.

Collect the balance and letter of undertaking and proceed to your bank so that the bank can proceed to settle your loan and refund any balance. The bank will give you the letter "Notice of ownership claim" to show that you have settle the loan and the vehicle is yours now.

7. The next part would be transferring the ownership of the vehicle. Proceed to puspakom for mandatory inspection for 2nd hand vehicles. Get the approval letter and head to JPJ.

8. The last part is the transfer of ownership in JPJ. This is categorized as voluntary transfer. Further details can be obtained here

Fill up and bring the following documents

* Original and copy of registration certificate (JPJK2)
* Borang JPJ K3 Borang JPJ K3(dua salinan)
* Copies of identity cards of registered owner/buyer/witnesses/business registration certificate (Forms 9, 44 and 49)
* Insurance cover note/certificate of new owner
* Notice of release of ownership claim (registered owner and notice of ownership claim (new owner) if applicable
* Original vehicle inspection report (B2) (imported vehicle)
* Original and copy of Commercial Vehicle Licence for new owner (except decontrolled vehicles) and
* Prescribed fees

Addition by utellme "Both buyer and seller have to sign on the TM-AB form either infront of JPJ office/ Hakim/ JP / Persuruhan sumpah"

Both owners must be present and finally, u can release the registration card to the new owner. Also, prepare a simple letter stating the vehicle has been sold in such condition as agreed and the buyer cannot make further claims from the seller after handing over the keys.

As the title suggests, im starting a topic on helping people to start small businesses and ensure their compliance with our local IRB (Inland Revenue Board).
