Working in the USA with H1B or L visa

Hey guys. Need some opinions.

I quit my Singapore job and went to Canada. Was jobless for few months but during that time
Engineering director from my ex customer offered me a job in Silicon Valley, USA.
He want my experience reconfigure/rebuilding their production machine as he having difficulties with cooperation from my previous company.
The company also in transition to a new product with a leap in technology and this is also will affect the company's future.

The catch is I need to work in Penang when they process my H1B visa. If I didn't get selected by the lottery,
I only can transfer to USA on L visa after a year working in Penang.

Now that I've started working and just filed my lottery application.

Questions:
1) Any of you guys applied H1B visa before?
2) I only have associate degree from a college in Japan. But I have 21 years of working experience and 18 years of that with the same group of company.
Do you guys think I can be selected from the lottery? I'm still clueless how it work.

What I can see the US director (which is now my boss) is really serious employing me and he made me join the week when all the VPs and directors are
having meeting in Penang. I also met him in person and have meetings for few days. Even joined him for team building activities.

I hope I didn't screw up when filling up the lottery application.

Selling car to Carlink (Another car bidding)

Hi,

I'm selling my car and placed my advertisement through different platform such as Carousell, FB groups and FB marketplace.

There is a guy from Mytukar contacted me and I've agreed to get it inspected by them. After that the guy gave me price RM118k
which is much lower than I've expected and I even need to topup then bank. I declined then he put my car on bidding with final price at RM134
without the processing fee.

Previously I saw another online car bidding company advertisement on instagram and contacted them. I didn't really managed to send my car
to them for inpection until Mytukar guy gave me their final price. So Carlink offered my car for RM140k, just 6k lower than I'm asking.

Did anybody have experience with company before? I liked them because they're quite frank and not pushy as Mytukar guy.
They can give me the deposit on the spot of I can come later time to finalize the deal.

Kingston valueram single channel or dual?

Hi.

Today I wanna buy 16GB Kingston ram from a seller. kvr26n19d8/16
He told me the readon he's selling is because he just found out
the ram cannot function as dual channel even in pairs.

He have 4 of the ram for sale. Just open for testing and found out about it. His setup is 10th intel cpu. He say 8th gen might work as dual channel.

Anybody know if this true? I didn't get any related answer from google.

Workshop for Audi in Penang

Anybody in Penang know which workshop to send Audi car for repair?

My friend recommended me 1 workshop in Juru but the workshop doesn't want to replace the parts for me.
He only can repair and cost a lot more. I already bought the component (GB TCU) so I just need a workshop who
can replace it and do adaptation.

Please advice anyone who know.

Career as a scammer

Do you think becoming a scammer is a good career choice?

Of course you need the know how to not get caught but if you get caught also you will be fined rm1000 only.

That's what the police IO told me when I reported my case. He said 1 businessman kenna scammed by his own
employee and the RM500k money is nowhere to be seen. The businessman just 'redha' only.

The IO said I can go to the bank and ask the account to be frozen. But when I went to the bank, the bank say they
simply froze the account because they might get sued by the account owner.

I reported to the app customer service also nothing happened.

I'm thinking like wow, must be good being a scammer in Malaysia because is protected by law. Like this I also can become a scammer.
Can upgrade slowly to scam for bigger rewards like big towkay or rich lonely women.

Lazada: Eit Store

Hello guys,

I have a problem with my Lazda online shopping, particularly from Eit Store.

I ordered numerous items for my new PC project from 4 stores in Lazada.
Items from other store was received without issue but I have a problem with one particular store.

I ordered PC case, PC monitor, CPU liquid cooler and SSD from Eit Store on 7 June 2019.
The store is located in Skudai, JB and I'm currently staying at Perai, Penang.

The store processed my order very slow, maybe due to Hari Raya holiday but I already received all
items from the other 3 stores but this store haven't even processed my items.

Below is the summary of my orders from Eit store:

1) CPU liquid cooler -> Packed on 12 June. Status delivered on 14 June but I didn't received the item.
2) SSD -> Packed on 12 June. Status delivered on 14 June but I didn't received the item.
3) PC case -> Packed on 12 June. I received the item on 14 June together with the monitor but delivery status still at packed.
The seller refunded the money on 19 June.
4) PC monitor -> Packed on 12 June and I received on 14 June. No issue.

I contacted the seller regarding the issue but the respond is very slow. I showed the pictures of PC case and out of a sudden
they refunded my purchase. I contacted Lazada customer service by phone about this issue and Lazada officer asked me to revert
the money to them and they will try to located the unreceive items with the courier. I told them please send my other 2 items first
before I can revert the money.

Can anyone advise me what to do next? This is my biggest issue with online shopping after many years without problems.

I'm planning to make a police report and submit to government body that handle this kind of case. But not sure is it enough.
Luckily I have another parts to finish my PC project otherwise I cannot test other items.

EMS envelope to send from 2nd country to 3rd count

Hi all,

I have a question here. I need to get my diploma to be assess by WES Canada (for immigration).
I was graduated from a college in Japan and when I call the school office, they asked me to buy an EMS
envelope and they will send back the cert to me.

To save money and time I was thinking to ask my school to send my cert copy directly to WES. Is it possible to do so?
Is it possible to buy EMS envelope in Malaysia and use that to send my documents to Canada?

If anyone have this experience I appreciate if you can share.

Dual screen phones: Yotaphone 3 & Hisense A2 Pro

Both phones have been launch in August or September this year and both are only available in China.
Both have similar specs but Yotaphone 3 is more expensive than Hisense albeit only using Snapdragon 625.

I really want to buy this phone due to the dual screen capabilities. Design and specs also not bad.
Anybody know is these phones are available in Malaysia? I only saw the phone on sale on JD.com website.

Mid range smartphone dilemma

Hi guys. I'm in dilemma here to choose which mid range smartphone I want to buy.
I was using Note 7 but returned it to get full refund and now use back my beaten up Redmi Note 2.
I like Honor 8 for the design, A5 for the Ip68 spec, 1+3 and Axon 7 for the OIS + SD820 processor.

Which phone do you guys prefer to buy and what reason?

Start a hotel business from scratch or buy

Hi all.

I've been planning to start my own business due to my mundane job and further improve my life with goal to achieve my dream of having own business.
So far financial wise, I've managed to save some money and also have properties like lands and houses.

One of the business I have studied is the hotel business, backpackers/budget hotel type precisely due to lower capital needed.
I have been thinking this for the last few years to start it in JB due to lack of backpackers hostel and the budget hotel in JB (near Larkin bus station) is starting to
mushrooming. Last time I see Gahzrin budget hotel is popular there but now there are many others budget hotel there due to completion of newly built shoplots in front of Larkin bus station.

Why I didn't just jump to this business because my current job provide me security in income and I'm already in late 30s. So if the business failed,
I need to start to find a job again and not sure I can get good pay or good position when I nearly 40 unless I'm already a manager now. I'm a Field Service Engineer btw.

About 2 years ago I got married and my wife worked in a hotel industry when I met her. Now she's working in other industry but still she's going to help me if I'm going to start my own hotel business now.

But of course I need a lot of capital and time if I'm going to start a hotel business from scratch and most probably I need to quit my current job to concentrate on the hotel project. Suddenly I saw there is a budget hotel for sale and the price is only 280 thousands ringgit. The seller say it have 33 rooms and it's located on the corner shoplot with 3 storey. So I saw this as an opportunity to start my business immediately without spending time to start building from scratch.

These are the pros and cons of buying this business.

Cons:
1) Possibility it have big debt.
2) Although it's located beside main road, it's far from attractions like Malls, bus stations etc. Noise from the traffic also.
3) Need to refurbish or replace most of the stuff there. I read the review of people staying there is not good. Most complains is about facility not working well and cleanliness.
4) I always take the road where the hotel is located at and I think 1 time it have stopped business due to the sign board missing and gate locked. After that it become operational again and now already up for sale.
5) Possibility of haunted??

Pros:
1) If it have complete license etc I just can buy it using my savings and start business immediately. Or can I buy the business using loan from the bank?
2) Already have staff which save headache of recruiting and training. My wife can use her experience to manage daily operation.
3) I still can keep my current job until the hotel business is stable.
4) Already have cashflow.

So this is the things that came out from my mind now. What else do I need to find out before consider this project seriously?

A local director in a company owned by foreigner

Hello all,

I would like to seek advice regarding an offer to become a local director.

He is a relative of my wife (who is also a foreign national) and he's doing some businesses in Singapore.
He is planning to start a company in Malaysia and offering me to become a local director (non-active).

As I'm a salaryman until now, this is a new thing for me as I don't know much about how a company works.
What is the duty of a director and how much salary can I ask from him?

I'm abit clueless here and I hope /Serious k member here can give some advice.

Hi all,

Currently I'm working in Singapore and working in JB. So I have phone numbers from both countries.
Now I have a phone with dual sim card (Honor 3C) and I need to swap the sim card everytime I want to use
3G in either country. I'm trying to get the correct term for this but didn't got it. Is it dual sim card dual 3g?

Anyone can suggest me any phone that have dual 3G capability or at least can switch the 3G on the setting?
My friend is using Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8" which he can choose which sim card to use 3G in the setting.
Do you think the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos also can do the same?

I hope some of the members here can give some advice.

Question regarding investment opportunity (F&B)

Hi guys,

There is a group of Japanese businessman will come to JB this week and I will be their part time interpreter/guide in JB.

I got contact with them through my friend's ex-lecturer who's working in Japan. This lecturer will come to JB with those businessman and I will bring them around.

He said he bring those guy for studying business opportunity here. Those businessman are in food trading and F&B business in Japan. In my communication e-mail with him, he also asking questions like:
1) How much to setup a cafe in Malaysia, probably a Japanese cafe (Interior decoration etc)
2) Salary range for the staff
3) Local labour laws like staff retention, legal limit etc

As I'm from different industry background (manufacturing, semiconductor equipment business) I don't have idea how much to setup a cafe. I did have some interest in F&B but lack of experience and knowledge makes me abandon the idea. And now this opportunity arise and I hope to prepare with as much information as I can get regarding F&B business.

I've talked to some of my friends about foreign investor and a friend at Miti asked me to consult Mida (Malaysian Investment Development Authority). I'm not sure whether setting up a cafe will need to go through government agency but I will ask them to find out.

So I'm asking whether any of you guys have this kind of experience? Can anybody suggest roughly how much money needed to setup a cafe here? This is a good opportunity and I hope to benefits from it.
