PUTRAJAYA, Dec 7 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today praised all his Cabinet members, saying they performed exceptionally well in a spontaneous midterm review recently.

When responding to a question during a town-hall event here today, Anwar said his ministers’ performance could be assessed through an improvement in the general sense of well-being thanks to national policies that emphasise human values instead of just economic data.

“None of the ministers lagged behind. I analyse every single ministry in detail. So I agreed with the chief secretary’s suggestion to hold these events so we can communicate our achievements,” Anwar said at the Rancakkan Madani event held at Dataran Putrajaya.

“And you evaluate this yourself, and not just the data. Because data can be misleading, some countries record massive growth but poverty remains a problem; a country can be the riches in the world, yet homelessness there is everywhere,” he added.

“So evaluate (their policies) through the values of humanity, and the values of humanity means leaving nobody behind.”

To me, the ministers who TOTALLY FAILED are those from PKR. Period.

Aerotrain daly downtime improved from 5 hrs to 10

Came back last night at KLIA1 at 10pm and aerotrain was not working! Have to take bus transfers!

What the hell.... the last position was for MAHB is to shut aerotrain from midnight till 5am for checking and maintenance.

Last night was at 10pm and the aerotrain was not working!!!!

Dunno what else to not say about MAHB.

I hope there is no new invented excuse of contractors leaving planks on the aerotrain tracks by accident.

Update:
Just saw that they revised it further to 9pm till 7am,,,,,,,,

originally it was supposed to be from midnight till 5am

will we be expecting more upcoming revisions? from 5 hrs downtime to 10 hrs downtime. Next target 15 hours downtime?

So KLIA still not world class standard yet.....

KLIA aerotrain to halt operations from 12am to 5am daily

PETALING JAYA: KLIA Terminal 1’s aerotrain service will halt operations from midnight to 5am daily to allow for inspection and rectification works to be conducted, the airport said today.

In a Facebook post, KLIA said shuttle buses will be operating at full capacity during these time periods.

“These measures are part of our ongoing commitment to maintain safe, efficient, and comfortable airport connectivity,” it added.

The new aerotrain service began operations on July 1 but has seen multiple disruptions since then.

What a joke.
You only have such scheduled shutdown processes 20 years ago. Even then it was not due to maintenance but no people to man and supervise during witching hours. Now with automated systems, that condition no longer applies.
So this daily shutdown will go on in perpetuity??
Also a lot of long haul flights lands on those witching hours. Really leaves good first impression for our international visitors.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's highly anticipated announcement, which he described as an "extraordinary tribute" to Malaysians, will be made tomorrow (July 23).

Communications Minister and government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the matter on his Facebook post today.

He said, the Prime Minister will make an announcement to express appreciation to all Malaysians at 10.30am on Wednesday.

Yesterday, Anwar said he needed more time to look into the announcement following the unity government retreat in Port Dickson on Sunday.

Some truth to Malays feeling sidelined, says Umno veteran

PETALING JAYA: An Umno veteran says the unity government must look to regain the confidence of the Malays, following former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s latest effort to unite the Malays and “restore their political power”.

Former minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the government cannot avoid or ignore this movement as there was truth to the notion that the Malay community feels sidelined under the unity government.

He added that Mahathir recognised this and was seeking to exploit it for his own political gain.

“Maybe it’s merely a matter of perception or imagination (to some parties), but I think that there’s truth to it (at the grassroots level). And something needs to be done to regain the confidence of the Malays.

Indonesia pledges more US imports as part of tariffs talks

JAKARTA: Indonesia said on Friday (Apr 18) it would boost oil and gas imports from the United States as part of a deal to ease stiff tariffs threatened by Washington, adding that talks would be completed within 60 days.

Chief Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto made the comments after he and other delegates met US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"Indonesia will increase the purchase of energy from the US, including LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), crude oil and gasoline," Airlangga told an online news briefing in Washington.

"Indonesia also plans to keep buying agricultural products from the US, such as wheat, soybeans, and soybean milk."

He said the team hoped to meet Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent next week, adding that Indonesia was one of the first countries the US government accepted to negotiate.

He also said that Indonesia promised it would help American companies operating in Indonesia with easier permits and incentives.

The 32 per cent tariffs imposed on Indonesia in Donald Trump's Apr 2 "Liberation Day" announcement were among Asia's highest. But like most other countries, it was given a 90-day pause to allow time for negotiations.

"Indonesia and the US have agreed to complete the negotiations within 60 days, and the reference framework or framework has been agreed," Airlangga said.

Data from the US Trade Representative Office shows Washington's goods trade deficit with Jakarta stood at US$17.9 billion in 2024, up 5.4 per cent on-year.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said this month that Indonesia would adjust import taxes on some commodities from 2.5 per cent to 0.5 per cent, including mobile phones and laptops.

Other products, including US steel and medical equipment, would be granted lower import duties of 0 to 5 per cent, down from 5 to 10 per cent, she said.

Malaysia, China Sign MoUs For Emerging Technologies, SATNAV Systems

Malaysia and China penned several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) while the latter’s President Xi Jinping was down for a whirlwind 3-day visit of our country. Among the MoUs signed were those that focused on the development of emerging technologies.

“Both leaders agreed to maintain close high-level interaction and strengthen strategic communication and mutual trust so as to provide strategic guidance for longterm and stable development of bilateral relations. Both sides reiterated their firm mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns of each other. China reaffirmed its commitment to the Principle of Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit and Inclusiveness in Neighbourhood Diplomacy as well as its policy of building friendships and partnerships with neighbouring countries.”

One MoU focuses on the establishment of Join Laboratories in the Field of Emerging Technologies, while another focuses on the development of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), which will be done through cooperation between Malaysia’s MOSTI and China’s NAtional Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

What’s Going On In Kelantan?

Kelantan authorities have expressed concerns over rape and incest cases that have been increasing annually in the east coast state. This includes cases that are considered statutory rape.

Sex with a minor, whether consensual or not, is considered statutory rape.;

On revealing the matter, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said on Wednesday (9 April) that 252 cases were recorded in 2024, and 206 cases in 2023, MStar reported.

According to Mohd Yusoff, cases from January to March this year rose 15.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

“There was a case where an 11-year-old child had relations with his 15-year-old cousin and got her pregnant.

“The incest cases in Kelantan is very concerning, when every year rape incidents involving minors are reported to be consensual and not by force,” he said.

Police investigations found 98% of rape cases in Kelantan involve underage children
Mohd Yusoff stressed that the exposure of rape cases in Kelantan was intended to highlight the social problems currently happening in the state.

He said police research found family conflict, romance, lack of religious education and peer pressure are the cause of such lewd behaviour.

This includes exposure to pornography and drug abuse, which are also factors that cause the cases.

In relation to the matter, Mohd Yusoff advised parents to monitor their children’s mobile phone usage, as well as excessive socialising.

People are concerned that rape culture is causing minors to seek sexual partners
Some on social media have expressed their worry that the rampant rape cases are causing social and perhaps even psychological issues in underage children to seek intimate relations with the opposite sex.

Facebook user Iesya Toh brought up the recent news about Kelantan’s rising rape cases involving minors and highlighted how children have been reported seeking sexual relations because it has become some sort of twisted “trend” to do so.

In Malaysia, the age of consent is 16 years old for girls. If a girl is below the age of 16, she cannot legally consent to sex, according to the Women’s Aid Organisation.

In other situations related to consent, if a person is intoxicated or unconscious, they cannot give consent. A mental disability or incapacitation can also affect a person’s ability to understand and communicate consent.

The same is true if you are in a position of authority. For example, if you are the boss at work, the power imbalance can affect the person’s ability to freely consent. Link

Independent preacher Zamri Vinoth is said to have been released from police custody "less than 24 hours" after police obtained a two-day remand order against him.

According to Port Dickson Bersatu chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, Zamri was released following "extraordinary pressure" from the public.

In a Facebook post today, Badrul said Zamri was allowed to leave before Friday afternoon prayers, and informed that nine lawyers were present pro bono (free) during the remand application made by the police in court.

When contacted by Malaysiakini, Zamri declined to comment. link

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating claims that a traffic policeman took a bribe from a motorist stopped at a roadblock in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, today.

A video clip has been circulating showing three traffic policemen conducting checks near The Mines shopping mall. One policeman appears to have received something from the driver of a car, putting it in his pocket before walking away to join the other policemen.
